- Our motorhome trip to Europe on a tight budget starts here!
On 23rd March we left the UK in our motorhome to start a 3 month trip to Europe with the aim for driving from wales to Greece and only spending £2500 for the entire trip.
We have started on a full tank, and set the Budget, we will be recording our spends as we go and any great money saving tips we find.
In this video, we visit Ypres and experience the very moving last post, get blown away at a canal park up, and spend the night at a museum

We’ve done done adding up today as it’s been a week! It’s looking a promising, I’ve probably jinxed us now 😂
May I just add.. the names on the Menin Gate are for those men of the British Army who's bodies were never found 😢.. and have no known grave.. and that's just in the Ypres area.. We enjoyed the video and certainly gave us food for thought as we are heading to Belgium in September. We also like your use of /// W3W .
Yes of course you are right. We now can see we got confused by a plaque quoting numbers, next to the gate, which we took to be about the names. Thank you for putting us straight,

Great video and sticking to the budget well, the Ayres are great arnt they wish the UK would adopt a similar approach! 🤔 very sad when you see how many names were on that memorial 😢 we found that in France so many graveyards but they are all kept beautiful ❤ xx

we didn’t get to the gravesites as we weren’t sure the dogs could go in, but we’ve since heard it’s fine, so will be going on our way back mid June

Hi, great video of the area in Belgium , do you need any crit aires or anything else for travel through that area to Germany ? 👍
Hi Phil,
For Germany you need their LEZ sticker, I can send you a link if you need one at the best price (about €5ish)
For Belgium you need to check by the city, for example, Ghent you need to register your number plate with the city government. Brussels is the same. Bruges you don’t need anything for the moment. If you need any links for anything let me know

Belgium only has 3 low emission zones, Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent
Use the link below, it will take you to a page, if you scroll down you can click on the city name and it takes you to their LEZ page, where you input your vehicle details, it’s nice and easy. You will get notification by email that your car is then register, no need for stickers. We only did Ghent this time as we knew we would be visiting.
