Well if you listen to the Preview on iTunes it does have some similarities. But it seems to me that the version on the Cover with Friends album may be even more acoustic.
Saenliecnaa I think part of it is the atmosphere. I was there. It was unexplainable. He doesn't have to travel far either. I think that contributes to it.
What amazes me the most is how much he has improved. He has taken it more seriously now and knows that a bunch of people love his voice and Rob's too! I love that he just lets himself go now. He enjoys the moment. He used to be really shy about his voice and didn't really sing that much. You can tell that he is having the time of his life up there. That makes me absolutely happy and I wish that someday I can sing in front of people.
Gahhhhh! Speaking as a performer and singer myself, and as the wife of a professional Blues Man, Jensen has always had a great voice but now he's a great singer (two very different things). His confidence behind a mic has grow so much over the last few years, and his guitar skill gets better and better. It's so thrilling to watch him grow as a performer!
I don't know why, but every time I here Jensen sing this song, I break down in tears. He's got so much talent, emotion, and power in his voice. He can do no wrong in my eyes.
Rob and Jensen singing "Fare thee well" was cute. Then "Simple Man" with Jensen singing and playing guitar was just heart stoppingly amazing... His voice is beautiful!!! I want to go to A Con so bad!!!! Xxx ❤❤❤❤

I have been learning this song on electric. one of my favorite songs like ever. AND IT REALLY MAKES ME FANGIRL when Jensen sings it. He reinvented it to fit his vocal range and its beautiful. Oh my word. Not to mention how confident hes gotten. I've seen some of the earlier convention videos and hes just like "eh, i cant sing" and he was afraid to really get up there and sing it. Now, it's just incredible. Rob Benedict and the whole Louden Swain gang are hella talented. I've always loved Rob's voice, even though his style of music is not something i prefer. Yet, I still listen to louden swain because they are just that good. Jason Manns, I mean, wow. I know he didnt sing in this video, but seriously, he is soooo talented. So basically everyone on that stage was amazing
Rob's (God's) cover on supernatural of Fare thee well is tied as my favourite version of the song together with Oscar Isaac's version in the movie "Inside Llewyn Davis". Two beautiful and haunting performances. I've since tried listening to bands and "actual singers" perform that song, and have yet to find a version even close to those two.

This is by far the best version I've heard Jensen do of Simple Man. Lynyrd Skynyrd's version is a song I hold really dear to my heart after my trip to Vancouver in 2012 (doing Vancon while I was there), and something I've always wished I could hear Jensen sing live. Kind of given up on that pipe dream, because I haven't been able to attend cons since 2014, so this just made me cry something rotten. Thanks for uploading - I know it's a little old, but only just started watching con vids again recently.
Watching videos of the Saturday Night Special is one thing, actually seeing it live is another. After how ever many years of waiting, I myself got to go to Vancon as well and it was literally the best week of my life. After that I now understand why so many people keep going back, but I have one question, how do they afford it? I met someone who went five times just in this year!
