Yeah, I feel about the same only because of the previous releases. The padawan version end up fitting in as well since we can say he's young enough before growing into his looks.
I had the older one and I have to agree. I may just rebuy him down the line. He gits better with the Kenobi, too
@@chriswilliams3110 I have to agree. It’s very specific to one point in the show that you’ll have to love it enough to commit, but I’d personally stay by the original TCW version.
@BostonCollectors Well said Boston. He's not meant for an action poses, as he comes off strange. All I think about is how well Obi Wan and Anakin looked in the promo pictures. Both in the midst of battle

I have the older one and like it a lot. Great for battle dioramas and photos. I like the new one too and will probably display it with Padme.
That's actually a great idea come to think of it. It made me question changing the chrome troopers helmets to phase 1 to accommodate his design... great thinking!
This is the Anakin I’ve been waiting for! I love the Clone Wars. I think the series is better than all the Prequel movies combined. I really like the sympathetic expression on this figure’s face. He looks like a teacher and a centered Jedi. I can’t wait to get this and the young Ahsoka!
I also really enjoyed the series! Granted, it took me a while to get through it on the first watch, but I appreciated it when it was over. So much so, I still playback the whole series. 😄
I did find it interesting he appeared a lot more centered representing a younger version of himself, because he was a bit chaotic in the animated series. If we think about it from his older perspective though, it makes sense why he is that way.
Young Ahsoka is going to be awesome! Definitely excited for that one!

You did a lot better than I did, so I concede. There's a lot to love about this one, but it puts me in a weird spot. Just as weird as this recent 2.0 Maul. 1st world problems, I suppose. 😅

Awesome preview! I’d love to see a video on the new Rex as well. I have similar views that you have on the figure and have been going back and forth on whether to PO him. I just don’t see him fitting well in my collection due to how different his armor looks from my other clones. I did however cop this Anakin 😎🤙

This one is pretty specific, so it's a tough sale for a collector like me, but I'll gladly compare them in a review. Not sure if I'll keep him though, but we'll see.

Personally, I didn't feel this one was necessary for my collection for both storytelling and space reasons. Results may vary.
I get it 100% and I'm with you. It's a bit too specific and limiting in terms of dynamic poses, but it does look good.
this one to me is a upgrade, i don’t love the blank expression of the first one and i do have a preference for live action, on screen suits. and yez pls do ahsoker rex reviw🙏🙏🗿
It’s definitely an upgrade. Even better for people who would like a scene specific to the series, but the older take is the only thing throwing me off. He can’t help it due to age, and they obviously didn’t de-age him.
Great work though regardless.
And maybe… so far that’s 1 person who’d like to see him. 🗿
Good review Jonathan. I don't have the older version. This one I think is more appealing. Might have ordered this one it if the Artisan version hadn't popped up first to suck my Anakin-fig-funds into that pre-order.
Thank you! I'm still surprised they didn't attempt the artisan version, but it's probably for the best since it's niche moment of his appearance. Speaking of Anakin figure funds, Padawan Anakin should be coming soon! Can't wait for that one.

Despite having two of the older clone wars Anakins (one on the STAP, one freestanding), I preordered this one because...why not? Big fan of the Anakin/Vader character. I wish they would issue an Episode I Anakin to complete the story arc.

Like you, I'd LOVE a Phantom Menace version of Anakin. preferably as a Jedi youngling, but I'd be grateful for any variation of him.

Can’t deny that the sculpt looks good. Just not a fan of the expression. Plus he definitely looks like a 40 year old Hayden in make-up. Guess you can commend Hot Toys for their accuracy lol. I love the one I already own I will not be upgrading.

It's a pass for me. I like the older one. I personally love having the cape, it's a fun early look of him becoming Darth Vader. The new one looks like he's about ready to do a GQ photo shoot. I will have to pick up a lightsaber at some point to upgrade the older one.

Yeah, I’m with you. The additional accessories also made it feel that much better. Swap out armor pieces too! Not to mention fitting in with the other versions I currently own.
Like you, I’ll also have to look for the LED light up saber, because that’s a massive upgrade across the board for quite a few pieces I own.
