OMG the quality of your images!
The images you shared are incredible. Great review
Great content Magic...thanks for sharing.
This lens made me switch from Canon R to Sony E. I was doing research on the Canon RF 50L f1.2 and then came across some comparison videos. Then started to research this lens as well. I found through my research this lens is better. Then I went dow the rabbit hole of Sony gear and I liked what I saw. 1 year later, I am still happy I switched. Now I still do not have this lens but its definitely on my buy list when I can afford it.
As a Sony user im jealous of the Canon 70-200 2.8 it's so compact!
there is a rumor they will be replacing it with a non compact version like they used to be. @@duvalpenny100
Outside of that kickass lens, i cant appreciate enough how talented you are. I dont do weddings but these shots were insane 😅
Only camera and lens I have is A7RV and 50 1.2GM. I love them!! working on to get the 70-200GM now
Best lens I've ever used. I was never a big fan of 50 mm until I shot with that beauty. I considered to sell it for the 50 mm 1.4, but no. I just love the quality that this lens is capable to produce.
Can't wait to receive mine ! I've just ordered it with a Sony A1 and a 35mm 1.4
Oh DUDE! What a combo! You will freaking love it!
More content Magic, more content please!
Haha doing my best!
Brilliant video Magic. This lens is just the absolute bollocks, it never leaves my camera on a wedding. Thanks for all the amazing content on this channel dude ❤
Do you feel the weight of it after a wedding? Or is it light enough to not feel any exhaustion?
My favourite lens that never comes off my camera, paired with the A1 it is a truly phenomenal setup. Even look in through the viewfinder looks stunning with it. I sold my 85 GM as I never use it really since buying this
Had the 50 1.2, switched to the 50 1.4 and my arms were happy
HI MAGIC
HI TAY TAY
Thanks.
This is the main reason Im going for Sony Brand Lenses for the compatibility with something like the a9iii
My Sony 50 1.2 had a motor die and it would hold the camera on, but not register an F stop.
Wasn’t nearly as used as yours, never dropped or even used outside. I’ll probably go 1.4 to replace just for size… but still deciding. It’s a beautiful lens.
Hey Magic I bet you would love the 0.95 50mm Old canon dream lens comes in Emount and I shoot 0.95 open most times except studio sessions thou it’s a MF but I rock it very well I must tell you because with Sony focus magnifier you are 9/10 good. Well I just switched to Sony and your video has been very helpful and inspiring. Thank you
Your comparison between the GM 1.2 and the GM 1.4 really helped me in my decision to size down. The bokeh difference is almost imperceptible and I do appreciate the smaller size.
Great to hear that my friend. The difference is just soooo tiny, but it's there if you really want to see it haha! 50/1.4 is a beauty
I really struggled with this as well. The size difference is crazy. But 1.2 is something like 40% more light capture than 1.4. So for low light… 1.2 is still probably worth it over 1.4?
I got my 1.2 two weeks before the 1.4 came out. I'm still salty I don't have the smaller one
@@vb2303 The light gathering difference is marginal. It's only a 1/3 of a stop. Going from 1.4 to 1.2 it's the same than going from 1/250 to 1/200
Bought it over the 1.4 a week ago. Hope I don’t regret it!
I'm pretty sure you will not :)
Do you have a video about the Zeiss, or one showing your photos taken with that lens?
Thank you. Time to upgrade.
what do you have right now?
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer the first lens I bought with my A7iii 55 1.8 . I won’t sell this lens! Something magical about it. However, I have had several opportunities to use the 50 1.2 and can’t stop obsessing over its sharpness wide open! It is on another level!
Też nie mogę przestać opowiadać o tym obiektywie. Zanim jeszcze canon, nikon i sony pokazali swoje nowe wersje tych obiektywów chciałem kupić starą wersję L canona, ale mimo wieku i wątpliwej jakości optycznej ( w porównaniu z nowymi wersjami) mocno trzymały cenę.
It's an amazing lense. one of the best GM, unfortunately no GM85 at this level, and only rumors for a f1.4 :(
30k delivered out of 100k...that's a 30% hit rate....very impressive.
Your copy does not produce whirly bokeh? Almost similar to Helios. Mine does and I love it. 🤤
I can't stop using this though i have GM focal lengths.
Yup! That's what 50/1.2GM does to all of us!
For a vintage, fun lens, I'd get a Helios 44-2.
In previous 'reviews' you were talking about a clinical lenses that have no flare, no character, and they are like you are going to a doctor. But back then, didnt you propose any filters to make those clinical Ultra sharp and fantastic lenses from Zeiss - Sony alternative options for those do not like to be so clinical. That's why i'm also filtering the youtubers ;).
50 1.2 vs 50 1.4 difference becomes more apparent i guess when you go crop mode. 75 1.8 sounds a lot better than 75 F2.1 .lol.
Magic, I don't know if you covered this in another video, but when do switch from your 50 to your 35? I'm not a pro, but right now I just have a 50mm GM F/1.4. I want something wider, but I'm thinking 35mm is too close to a 50 and 24mm is too wide. There's the 28mm f/2, but I don't know if it's a good lens or not.
yeah, I'm 35 and 50 guy. It's close, but still produces different images. And for my style, I like being close so it's a great combo. 28/2 is sadly not even close to any of the current sony lenses, huge barrel distortion, loud af motors, very meh image. If Sony comes with a 28/1.4GM, I'd definitely consider going 28+50 combo
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer Ideally, I'd get a 24-70 gm version II for general walking around, family stuff..etc. and use my 50mm when I want to shoot portraits with that creamy bokeh. However the new GM is $2300 and the old version is a bit too heavy to carry around all day. Idk, maybe I'll just save up and get the 24-70 down the road. For you 35 and 50 makes sense because you carry two cameras on you for work. I'd probably do the same in your situation.
Just get 24mm and if you need just crop a very little bit and you get 28mm look. That's why you have all these megapixels use them :)
@@MagicWeddingPhotographerI also use those two the most. They produce very different looks and produce a great Image quality. 24 is a bit wide. I use it more in small indoor or for street/urban/landscape shots.
sony 50 1.2 is very light compared to canon or nikon, for all day shoot its the best!
Correct it is! I even had this part in the video where I talk about it, but decided to remove it, because it's just not relevant to Sony shooters :)
Could not agree more about the plastic Sony use. I own the Sigma 85 f1.4 which i love but the metal part of the lens has small chips all over it. You would think I've rolled it down a gravelled path. My GM glass which is treated the same still way looks like new.
Exactly that Nick! There's something about that material, that just looks good after years. And if you buys a lens for so much money and want to resell later, the value goes down when the lens is completely scratched, so there's value in that!
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer If / when Sony come out with a 85GM f1.4 MKII I will buy it. Just a shame my sigma is worth a fraction of what it should due to how the metal part of the lens has chipped. Only the plastic parts of the lens look like new.
1:11 Hey SONY, send this guy a new 24mm f/1.4.
new?! do you know something? :P
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer No, I mean that your copy is already taped and beat up. For all of the wonderful work you do showcasing the quality of their lenses...they should give you a replacement...imho.
@@Daniel_Ilyichhahah OMG I thought you meant like 24/1.4 GM II or something :) My 24GM is my party lens, so it gets covered with stuff like beer, glitter, confetti etc
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer I see.
13:57 "That's what she said"...........I hope.
I have a love hate relationship with the 50/1.2 GM. I love the Bokeh etc, but something about its colors and contrast doesn’t fit my taste.
I think the same, this is why I sold it and kept only the 50mm Zeiss and the S Pro 50mm (for Panasonic L mount).
CZcams deleted my subscription to your page....
hello, you are magic, but your name isn't magic :)) so just say "hello, i'm magic"
the "my name is" way of phrasing it is annoying :))
30k photos to clients, with this lens, each for at least 1€, u r rich man
anyway, thx for your experience with this lens
haha dude, why just 1eur?! AM I THAT CHEAP!? :P :P :P
