    Thank you for videos, I’m rebuilding a 5.3, first motor for me. Very helpful, when I start doubting myself

    Been watching a few of your videos and you, describe, by far the best on this type of build. Thanks!

    Hey Matt, If you want to be more accurate with your angle measurements you can just use the torque wrench in reverse. You should be able to find out from the manufacturer how many degrees the wrench turns per click. So just grab a reference point then rotate the wrench counterclockwise the prescribed number of clicks you need to get the total degrees you want, then pull it back to your reference point.

    Good video for my task today. Start putting rods in holes for my ls 6.0 build! (Yes I'm trying to make it sound dirty) :D

    My book says 15 ft pnd then 75 degrees on the connecting rods

    where can i
    I find torque specs for my rod bearing bolts?
    jetta 2.0 8 Valve 2003. mk4. avh engine. I have no new bolts. I'm going reused old bolts.
    I dont like 90 degree method.

    5/360= 1/72 or 1.3% +/- what happens when you go that next 5 degrees to 90 (aka one quarter turn)

    do these pistons have oil holes in the oil ring grooves?

    Picking up an LQ9 for my swap project, pretty high mileage (200k +)motor I got for cheap. Would you recommend doing crank and rod bearings?

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  Před 2 lety

      My main and rod bearings looked great for a supposedly 150k motor. Cam bearings will probably need replacing.

    Great video man
    if the tolerances of the bearings were not as it should be- what would you do? can you modify?

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  Před rokem +1

      They make thicker/thinner bearing shells.

      so you need to install the bearings, make your measures, and if it not fit- you need to buy another one, until you find the " sweet spot" ?
      you can find yourself buying many bearings until then... what am I missing?

    • @HTMR
      @HTMR  Před rokem +1

      @@johndoe2022 Well it all starts with having a shop measure the crank to see if it is in spec. Mine was checked and polished, therefore stock bearings should be fine. Plastigauge was just to verify.

      Oh thank you man for explaining... I'm in a different situation, my car smoking and I think it's the piston rings, so I thought to change those bearings after seeing your vid... But I'm not going to move the engine out of the car so I think I will leave it as is 😅

    What kind of oil were you putting on the rings? was it conventional or was in breaking oil?
