When I bought my first home I was given the best advice....live in it for awhile and get to know it. See how each room, door, window, etc is while you are there before making major financial changes. Who knows, things may work out better than you thought. It helped me out.

I would rather watch an authentic house tour like this than some fake having it all together you tuber. Stop comparing yourself to other people. This house is so beautiful, and I like the idea of a lighter area rug and sliding doors in your office.

May I offer some advice being someone who's cleaned homes that have been sold? Buy yourself a power washer. You'd be surprised at how much you'll actually use it. You can get one at Walmart that isn't too expensive. Since your new house has different flooring I recommend getting a steam mop that has the attachment to do carpets. It'll help with any stains you get from spills and using it a couple times a month keeps it nice and fresh so you don't have to shampoo quite as often. And since that is brand new carpet you should have it cleaned or shampoo it yourself. The adhesive installers use can leave residue on the fibers that aren't good for dogs or kids. For the surfaces in the home I recommend something like the Bissell Powe Shot steamer. It's a small yet powerful steam cleaner. And it disinfects like nobody's business. It also greatly reduces the need for so many chemicals.

Whewwwww this is GORGEOUS!!! The hardwood floors on the upper level? GAH!!! The master bathroom, *chef's kiss* The space where you mentioned possibly putting a chair or table - right before you walked into the master bedroom - a nice console table would be gorgeous in that space. I love all of the nooks throughout the house as well as the storage space. Everything is just beautiful. Congratulations again! And I'm with you. I don't do snakes! I would've panicked too.

Most glass replacement places, can cut you a mirror to fit that area. You have a beautiful new home!
I would paint or resurface that outside area - probably would be cheaper than replacing it. Maybe the pebble stone resurfacing. Love those upstairs floors!

I was in the pool business and this product is cool to your feet and has many colors to choose from. And soft to your feet rock or aggregate is hot and rough.
I thing is for sure, there's a ton of options than to dig up & redesign your outside patio. I'll watch you do your magic 🪄

Such a gorgeous home! Take your time, live in your space and then make changes. Sometimes you have feel the vibe of the house before making changes. It’s not a marathon - you have plenty of time.😉 One thing I would suggest about the changes - make sure they’re not so exclusive that it will affect the resale value. I know you had said its not your forever home, so you have to keep in mind if your changes will be pleasing to others. But for the most part it’s your home - HOORAY! No more landlords and you can do whatever you want!🥳

You can always buy paint for stone/cement and repaint/refinish it which will cost you a lot less. Just an option until you are ready to do a complete redo back there which will cost you a pretty penny.

Wow - you sound like me years ago. Purchased a home and put so much into it changing it to realize how much money I wasted. When you get older - it becomes less important and you realize more important things to focus on. You are very lucky to have a BEAUTIFUL home. Enjoy your children before they are grown and on their own. Place your children your priority - you will have time later to spend changing and already beautiful home. OR With the changes/cost you should upgrade in a home later that fits you more and save yourself headaches now.

Just remember...every time you THINK about moving a wall/door...it's nothing but $$$, time...wait-wait-wait for the workers to "show-up", do the work..then keep your fingers crossed that they don't have to come back to "get it right" etc. It's worse than you can imagine. Been there...done that...no more remodeling for me. TFS :D
