I’m a master’s student in Birmingham. My monthly grocery is around £100-150. This doesn’t include eating out. I don’t know how he managed in £18 per week. You just can’t eat daal chawal every week. I don’t see any other items like flour, vegetables or any frozen parathas/wrap to eat with. Incase if you want to just survive, it is good then but not for long term.

Yeah that's because he had done a very basic shopping just as you said that just to survive then it's fine...and also he said that it matters person to person like if you buy things which isn't much a necessity or just for your taste then that could raise your budget...

I recently (3 weeks ago) helped a student from Sialkot to settle in Birmingham. The cheapest room I found was £400 a month including bills. He goes to Uni by bus on a monthly bus pass costing £45 a month. In order to save money he only eats one meal a day (dinner) and morning just a cup of tea with a few slice of toast. He can only work officially 20 hours a week on a minimum wage and is currently waiting for NI number and bank account in order to start applying for proper job. A few local shops has offered him part time job on £5 an hour but working full 10 hours a day. His Uni tuition is £12,000 per year which he borrowed for first year and now has to work and pay for second year and all the cost above. Life is not easy as a student, you need a huge pocket to even start off

Hoooooly shittt damn man that's some knowledge which we couldn't get in our universities also if we want to overcome this situation instead of relying on government we must start doing a part time job which isn't a shame because early start is always a good thing.

I live in South Korea with family of 3 kids. Our weekly grocery shopping exceeds 150 USD.
When i was a student in uk back in 2017 my monthly grocery bill use to be around £170-200 I used to live in Coventry. Btw farooq bhai I’m following you from samma TV days. Best of luck with your degree in uk 👍🏼

I think the comparison would be a lot different if you throw in the family expenses.Renting a 3 bedroom apartment and adding tuition fees will make the difference.

Back in 2015 I was in the UK as a student.. Junaid bhai Believe me these prices are same then what it was that time iIl share you the invoice of 2015 of Tesco.
UK mai Mehangai barhti nai saalon mai bhi aur yaha Pakistan main roz ka naya rate hota hai. Thanks to Imran Khan for giving us Naya Pakistan.
Jaha log income tax nahi dete waha indirect taxes jyada hote hai. Isiliye inflation badhti rehti hai.
UK has 35% income tax payers
This will excite more young to somehow reach UK, as our youngsters don't think as you are describing the fact and not everyone can earn in the same capacity.

It is very difficult to survive on minimum wage in London. Even if someone get a £30-40K salary, long term they will struggle.
Farooq bhai is frugal and is sensible in the way he shops but realistically I would say a weekly shopping tends to cost around £25-30 for a single person.
Also rents in London are astronomical, and sharing a room with someone is classed as sub-letting which in most cases is illegal.
Overall the video showcased situation not far from reality, with a pinch of salt.
100% agreed, for a family of 4, the grocery cost on average per month is around £350 to £400.
minimum wage can not live in london. you need to earn in 6 figure to have a life in mega cities with a family of 4.
