  • Do Torah teachings and scientific findings really contradict, or can they be reconciled? In Part 1, we explore the Big Bang and the age of the universe through the lens of Torah and Judaism to discover that, in fact, there is no contradiction at all between ancient wisdom and modern discoveries.
Topics discussed include cosmology and Genesis, time dilation, the Lorentz transformation, cosmic microwave background radiation, cosmic cycles of time, the formation of Earth and the solar system, as well as the work of Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan and Dr. Gerald Schroeder.

I really like Brian Greene, who you mentioned. He did a great little series on PBS about Quantum Physics. I had read the book of Enoch but after watching that series i reread the book of Enoch and understood more of the book. I'm binge watching all of your classes Rabbi. I'm about to run out. I'm hoping you have more on your website. I will go back and watch them again. Your a Great teacher!! Thanks for all of your hard work!! 😇

Rabbi, Brian Greene's short PBS series (see PBS.Nova called "The Fabric of the Cosmos") might be something you want to show your science class. It could change up your format for them to see the videos vs. you explaining things. Just a thought. You do explain things so well. Bc Brian explained things so simply in the series, it made me excited about quantum physics in my 40's. I'm 56 now. 🤗. 💞 From Memphis Tennessee

Thank you for the feedback and the suggestion. I actually do show clips of Brian Greene explaining quantum physics in my science classes :)

    On expansion,
Acoording to ramban, the world started from a very small single point. He also claims the firmament(sky) was first thing to be come into existence. We can find similar information from midrash tanchuma that sky was initially smaller than a dot of an eye and it expanded to reach ends of the universe.

    יישר כוח עצום
There may be a different approach to the idea of מחריב בונה עולמות
Meaning,מחריב,=return to singularity and בונה=expansion and inflation from the singularity perhaps proving a cyclic progression up until this, the present universe

Adam was created on Tishrei 1. That was the Sixth Day, so Creation began on Elul 25.

There is nothing in the Bible which claims: "He first made a singular point."

Light means the singular point. From this unicity divided came darkness and light. Deut 6 G-d is One.
