    MY STORY:
    In 2016 I had been in law enforcement for 7 years.
    I was not in control of my schedule, I was hardly making any money, and I was away from my family working nights and holidays. I was capable of more, and I was silently suffering. I knew I was selling myself and my family short.
    I started Florida Turf Pros as a side hustle in 2016 before going full time in 2017.
    My lawn business changed my life.
    I control my own schedule, control my own income, and I am proud of what I have built; a business that supports me, my family, and some employees.
    If you are a lawn care business owner, this channel will be a valuable resource for you.
    This really is a great industry to be in, and I hope that by documenting my journey it will help you.

    Great video and great way to get competition to understand why offering service for cheap hurts themselves more than other competion...which in turn helps us to bring pricing up to a standard that will not be shocking to potential customers.

    Good video.Another thing to add is variable cost and fixed cost per month.When you break that down, you can really start to see where you can save $. Whether it's shopping around for a better truck insurance company or trying out a new mechanic. Or start to order some supplies off the internet.I find most of my parts and tires For my mowers on the internet way cheaper, then local store's like 50% cheaper on average When you look at your variable cost, you will really start to see areas that you can chaange up.

    As a previous tree company owner, I can verify the costs were much higher. Expensive liability insurance, expensive equipment, expensive trucks, truck repairs that cost as much as a mower. Had to get out, the work is much harder on the body than lawn care and age caught up with me. But I have to admit, there is no lack of excitement in tree work.

    Good advice Jonathon. I do believe that overhead recovery should be done in an hourly basis though. If you're running full maintenance on one property and it takes 1.33 hours vs. A simple more and go that takes. .42 hours, you're going to cost yourself potential clients by doing recovery per job site only. Just my 0.02¢

      @@FloridaTurfPros yeah man , obviously I’m very aware of my expenses but my focus is on generating revenues getting jobs done. Our businesses are probably similarly size. Got a video idea for you buddy. I’m getting ready to put a big amount of $ fro my business account into a short term 10 month cd @ 4.88% I have significant personal stock investment already.Curious your thoughts on good investment ideas for growing your $ inside your business so to speak. Personally I think high rate cds are a good idea for $ sitting there

    • @FloridaTurfPros
      @FloridaTurfPros  Před měsícem

      @@CBeason There are checking accounts getting similar rates to that, so I personally wouldn’t lock my money up in a CD. 0:12 Banks are hedging bets right now until the election which is why most CD’s paying decent are short term only. I don’t know… I would ask what if you put those dollars back into your own business… if you run a streamlined/profitable business you made see a much better ROI by reinvesting back in your own business. You can bet the banks are investing in something else making more than the 5% they’re giving us on CD’s.

I’ve got a particular bank that I do business with so not looking to move $ over or to somewhere else.. it’s not all my savings just a portion so not tying it all up which I agree with you there for sure. You should look at yourself as an employee of your business AND and owner. Set your prices to where you can pay yourself a wage that you think is fair AND to make the owner a profit. If you don't look at it that way, you're treating your business as a job as opposed to being a business owner.
