- Hey friends! So recently we posted a video of a little side project arrangement, In between recording video game tunes the gang and I decided to have some fun and record an up-tempo swing arrangement of Beethoven's classic 3rd movement from the seminal "Moonlight Sonata"!

Here's a follow along score video for a behind the musical scenes look of whats going on under the hood (so to speak) of the arrangement, and a link to purchase the full score and parts for your own arranging/composing score study!
WARNING This arrangement is EXTREMELY difficult to play live for most members of the orchestra, and so I can't in good faith recommend that you attempt to play it live with your own band, but I can't stop you from trying, PERFORM AT YOUR OWN RISK! Here's a link:

No joke one of my favorite arrangements you've made. I use it as my 445am alarm for work.
Perfect for when you need to be 18 days and 4 hours late for work.
Get up and go
if you're anything like me, in 2 months this will be a song that you dread hearing, and it will instill a fight or flight response within you. I've burned many a song that I've used as an alarm.
@@golderado6740 quite right but then it gets moved to my gym playlist. Peace Sells, Angry Again went through that process. Great pieces of music used in multiple ways, alarms and then gym motivation
This is so impressive! Every member of this band is a virtuoso in their own right, but my heart goes out to... 😂 the pianist. She had to almost play the actual whole dang thing! Gee!
Wow, they did my absolute favorite classical piece (specifically the 3rd movement). I play this _all the time_ in Space Station 13, so it technically counts as videogame music, for anyone worried about that. (The piece perfectly fits with the pure chaos of a late SS13 round where the station is actively overrun by blobs, traitors, nukies, and cultists.)
I was worried, but no longer. Thank you
never has something so classy also been so cool!
I loved every second of this! So clearly the original piece while still being big band af. Y'all did such a good job.
i don't usually appreciate classical music arrangements but god this wins everything. it's just amazing
As someone who loved playing this years ago this is easily one of the most impressive renditions I've ever listen to. Bravo! 🎉
this sounds like a classy villain just stole from a casino and is on the run from the whole police force
this may be the most actual notes written in a jazz piano part
See Jim Run! Run, Jim, Run!
I wonder how many games a piece like this has shown up in. You could probably write a whole big long video essay about famous classical music being used in video games, when and how it tends to be used, etc
I vote this one "Highest Possibility of Being in a Ymfah Video Soon". Jokes aside, this has always been my favorite Beethoven song and to see it dressed up to the nines like this is truly spectacular. whatever you did to the beat starting at 2:34 is especially awesome, I love that kinda stuff! Also this still counts as video game music since MS 3rd movement played in one of the last levels of Earthworm Jim 2.
Hah, it's so true. I found 8BBB but was so tickled when I learned Ymfah enjoyed their work.
Ymfah ready to play this over a montage of him getting shit on
Moonlight Sonata 1st movement to 3rd movement is such a big swing in moods.
Please keep posting more of these. I don’t know what the criteria is for if they go up or not, but it’s truly mesmerizing to see the individual parts and how they come together.
This is such a massive flex for everybody in the band. Bravo Charlie
this slaps so much
And one day, Night on Bald Mountain. It's classic and, like the Moonlight Sonata, in Video Games.
Hey i just realized you have 100 videos, congrats!
Awesome work!!
I LOVE this arrangement! 🤩 Absolutely stellar work!
The funniest thing is that this was used in an actual video game. Earthworm Jim 2
I had so much trouble catching that door
I'd be really interested to see the sheet music for all your other videos too, especially the chrono trigger one that I really like. Awesome as always! 😊
You guys are so skilled.
Wow! Totally insane. Fantastic arrangement and performance.
This is so good!
Awesome work.
i can neither read music or play music, but since I can hear 'em, this is so nice
THANK YOU SO MUCH
art. this is epic.
I love this band, and I love this song!
I’ve been playing the Alto sax since i was in Middle School. 2022 was my 10 year HIGH school reunion. That being said I’ve never seen the Saxes have a lead part in a Beethoven piece! This is such a fun arrangement.
Incredible
Amazing
legit sick
this is INSANE
So, the 9:th next? Always wanted to hear a big band blast that lead melody to space!
Song is going to hit
I love the music of Earthworm Jim 2
Imagine writing a song about your latest heart break and lamenting the rapid declining of your health to the point of knowing that one day you aren't going to be able to continue working on your craft just to have it sillily covered centuries later, we're truly living in a unique timeline
I don’t think this is sillily covered at all. It’s very well arranged.
@@Jackson-ol5xt I mean, true. The cover is amazingly well made, I was only referring to the vibe switch of the cover
I love the word sillily
Good music is playable in any genre
@@gregorypapas9354 I didn't say it was wrong
Very successful 👌🏼
I love how the intro reminds me so much of "Song of Giga Rosa" from XC2 😂 Incredible playing though!!
Whatever you do, 8BBB, you turn it to gold; you have that magic touch. (The same is also true of Carlos Eiene, or insaneintherainmusic; you and him are now my two favorite performers, and your music really helped me cope with the pandemic.)
When it comes to music, I therefore wish thank you, 8BBB, Carlos, the J-Music Ensemble, and all others associated thereof (and on a separate note, Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox, or PMJ; check them out if you don't know them; they're amazing) for restoring my faith in humanity.
unexpected but so sickkk i hope you guys rearrange more classical pieces
Maravilloso
Big W
Oh hecc yeah
loving this pokemon battle BGM... wait.
Oh my god... the Giga Rosa intro.
This is pretty good. I was wondering if you had any idea what the next song you would make sheet music available for (if you are going to make sheet music available for another song), and if so, what would that song be. Also, what do you think your best piece for clarinet would be? I am considering senior solos, and I thought that maybe an 8BBB arrangement could work for mine. Thank you for your time.
Soo no one is bringing up shadow memes, guess I’ll do it. “I am Atomic!”
woag!
I would have loved to see the score in written transposition instead of concert pitch. (Finale, Display - uncheck "Display in Concert Pitch")
Lmao you really think he doesn't know how to switch it?
@@james_subosits of course he does. The point was that it was such a simple step that would have been better than concert pitch. It’s strange looking at a sax part that’s out of range.
If this doesn't get millions of views, I am boycotting CZcams.
Sugar Plum Fairy would sound real swell coming from you guys, that's for sure.
Some versions of Tetris have it included as "Song 2"
Isn't christmas just around the corner, too?
This reminds me of the arrangement from Catherine
Someone needs to show this to TwoSetViolin.
Can you do this but with Fantasie Impromptu from Chopin? It's beautiful!
Lead alto part be like 'buckle up'
BOSS FIGHT ! Mario vs. Bowser !
Concert pitch score... 😂 And that key...
I mean… that’s the original key.
@@JimmyOConnell87 Not played by brass and saxes in flat keys, though. And big band scores are almost always published as transposed, showing the parts the same way the players see them.
HOW IN THE WORLD DO SAXOPHONES MANAGE TO PLAY THIS?!?! I WAS CONVINCED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY YOU COULD PLAY THIS ON ANY INSTRUMENT OTHER THAN PIANO (I know it's spread out across 5 parts but still)
It's hard to read the notes.
What game is this from?
Beethoven
Well I didn't know it at the time but it IS in earthworm jim 3 haha
Not a game. It's Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata's 3rd movement.
@@Jantsenpr777 I was making a joke lol
@@The8BitBigBandwait, there's an Earthworm Jim 3?
sounds like family guy made it
Anyone ever thought of doing this as a solo piano piece?
That IS a solo piano piece originally, in fact! As are the other three movements.
