I don't know if a 4" speaker should be sold as a subwoofer, i see that a lot on aliexpress and other sites... i guess with a few more inches in box size you could easily fit 2 8" in there and then it would be a subwoofer

A subwoofer doesn't depend on it's size, but on it's specifications. You can use a 15 inch woofer, but with the wrong parameters, it sounds like shit.
