SNV Uganda: dairy farmer-to-farmer mentoring

  • Over the years, dairy farmers have participated in a number of training sessions aimed at improving their farming and management practices. However, less than 50% of the trained farmers have adopted improved practices while others have maintained their conventional practices. SNV’s Dairy Farmer-to-Farmer Mentoring programme targeting 75 farmers in eastern, western and south western Uganda is restoring farmers' confidence and addressing the poor adoption challenge through peer to peer learning.

    South African, brazilian, indian and Australian breeds are best suited for our climates. Or crossed with friesians. European ones are too rapacious and not disease resistant.
