A little over 2 years ago, my grandfather was hospitalized after a fall and I started living with my grandmother. My family had no idea she was suffering from Alzheimer’s until after my grandfather’s hospitalization. He passed October of ‘21 when his body just wouldn’t hold on. I took care of my grandmother for almost a year, all the while she would recognize me as someone she knew, but didn’t remember me as her granddaughter. She has now been gone for over a year after her own medical complications, resulting in her passing September of ‘22. For those of you who read this, thank you. If your grandparents are still around, take time to go see them and make some lasting memories. You never know when you’ll need them in times of sadness. May God bless!
