Excellent video!! I like watching the decision making of each player. Seriously, the perfect video for this. P.s. the music isn’t too loud, idc what anyone else says. You think it’s gonna be quiet at the BBQ?! 😂 Keep spreading love, man!!
I'm totally with you on the organization aspect. Keep reds and blacks separate. Because the situation you've described is exactly how I wound up reneging at one point when I was first starting out.
My question is when it gets to the scoring. What the overall score all the players are trying to be make? I was a little bit confused with the over bid and how that can cost you. I understand that the underbid is minus the books and makes a negative point.
Jamal Sisco I sincerely appreciate you! It’s fun and easy to grasp when you play with the right people lol. There’s also an app called Black Spades that replicates what I taught. Enjoy and thank you again!
Great Video! This taught me alot. Couple questions. In the Spades Phone App I'm playing. 2's are low cards. So I'm assuming 2's are house rules? Also, no Jokers on my App. So those must be house rules also. Thirdly, if Jokers are used as the highest cards. Should the game be now called "Jokers"...?? 😂. Thanks again. After watching this video I can show my face at the BBQ and not just slay everyone on Dominoes all day! Haha
I am grateful that you were able to learn a bit from this video! So to answer your questions, let me start by mentioning that the popular spades app on both iPhone and Android doesn’t acknowledge house rules at all, and that can be confusing especially when I went on and on about how the 2 of spades is a heavy hitter. In fact, there’s another house rule style that makes the top four order Big Joker, little joker, 2 of spades, and then 2 of diamonds... then follows the ace of spades, king, so on, so forth. There is an app that caters to the way I taught the game, and it’s called Black Spades. I can see the game being called Jokers because of the weight of those cards lol! Now you have to do a video on how to play dominos because I am clueless when it comes to that game lol! Thanks again and let me know if I can help!
@@ChefJase_wav I'm grateful for all the great info and time you put into this video and being available to answer mine and everyone else's questions. Much appreciated. I will look into that "Black Spades" App. And if and when I make that Dominos video. I will be sure to let you know.😂 Thanks Again 👍 Eric B.
i wasnt throwing that baby joker out right away and i have another spade sometimes you gotta duck to either find your partner or run a suit down your opponent throat but you have to be able to count cards
Aye bro I got a scenario for you lmk if this is legal.. Alright so it’s a 1v1 we started w 13 each and now we’re down to 1 card each. It’s my turn to deal since I won the book before. My last card is my only Big joker and I put it down first is that legal?.
Most “house rules” require that you don’t lead with spades off the rip. I personally don’t have a problem with that whenever I set a game up because I feel like if you want to come out going for the gusto, be my guest. Just remember that the objective isn’t to play smash mouth ball, but this is a game of strategy and it’d be a mess if (for example) your only spade was your big Joker and your partner’s only spade was the little joker, and now they have to throw it down just to keep from reneging, but now you’re out of a separate book (your partner was probably counting on that little Joker for a book) because of YOUR move. You always have to keep your partner in mind when making power moves 💪🏾 Good question though Milton Jr.! Keep on killing it in the game!
What if everyone has one card left.I won the last book.I throw down 6 of diamonds ♦️. Opponent to my left throws down 6 of clubs♣️.My partner throws down 6 of hearts ♥️. My opponent’s partner to my right throws down 5 of clubs♣️.Who wins the book?I suppose 🤔 that the opponent to my left will win the book.Am I right?
You win because you won the last hand, whatever you throw dwn leads, only way your 6 of ♦️ get's beat is with a higher numbered ♦️ or a ♠️... that's it!
Sorry for the delayed response but I'm just getting back to my comments. Yolanda Murray answered it right and I hope that you've been kicking butt ever since!
L T Hey! Spades never lead until you break your opponent’s suit. So let me set a scenario: Let’s say that this is the beginning of the game and your opponent to the left throws out their card first. They have a 10 of clubs. Your partner throws out their highest club which happens to be a 9 of club, automatically letting you know that so far, your opponent might’ve won this book. Now your opponent to the right throws out their card and it happens to be a Queen of club. It’s your turn and you see that you don’t have a club at all but you have diamonds, hearts, and spades. At this point, if you throw a diamond or heart down, your opponents win this book. However, the spade is the most powerful suit and can overpower even their highest thrown club. You decide to win the book by throwing your lowest spade which happens to be a 3. Where I’m from, we call that “breaking the suit” and that opens the door to spades being able to lead going forward. Once you break the suit, Spades are now eligible to lead. Spades cannot lead from the gate, only when they are introduced into the game by this method and this method only. Quick pro tip though: Whatever you do, don’t cut your partner just because you have spades. So let’s switch the scenario around: let’s say your opponent to the left had a 4 of clubs, your partner had an ace of clubs, and your other opponent threw down a 7 of clubs. Y’all have already won the book, but if you get antsy and throw down a spade, you are now cutting your partner because you threw a powerful card over a card that they already used to win the book. That’s a no-no. Instead, “throw off” by using one of your lower hearts or diamond cards instead if you don’t have the suit that your partner threw down. This lets your partner know that you don’t have the suit, but that you also value their win. Hope this helps!
So with reneging, it's typically brought to everyone's attention in a scenario like the following: Let's say that that your opponent to your left throws a 5 of hearts to start the suit. Your partner across from you throws down an 8 of hearts. Your opponent to your right throws down a 3 of clubs (or any other suit other than hearts). You throw down a 10 of hearts. You won the book, so you start off the next book with a Queen of hearts. Your opponent to the left throws a 4 of hearts, and your partner throws a 7 of hearts. Here is when reneging comes into play. Your opponent to the right throws a King of hearts. If you remember on the last book, the suit was hearts, but that opponent threw out that 3 of clubs giving the illusion that they were out of heart cards. Now they threw down a heart card and that is an automatic penalty of (typically) 3 books, or -30 points DEPENDING on the rules that y'all establish for reneging. Reneging happens when either someone is intentionally cheating or most likely just not paying attention to the board. People get away with it when everyone at the table is mostly inattentive to each player's moves. Every household is different. I hope this helps a bit

You are wrong and here's why. Once the Ace and King of hearts have been played the Queen is the boss. It might walk later but it's more likely to walk now. Leading the Queen is the right thing to do. He could have led his lowest heart and have his partner cut with a spade but why waste a spade if you don't have to? Additionally, by playing the Queen and his partner not trumping with a spade, he is now short suited on clubs. So the 2nd time clubs go around he can trump with a spade.
That is not how you play spades the 2 of Diamonds is the third highest card then the 2 of spades if you use the two of diamonds as a diamond you have to many diamonds to make a non spades suit have more cards then the other non spade suits essentially making it the lowest card in the deck that can't beat any card or even equal any card .so it should be Big joker Lil joker 2 of diamonds 2 of spades
