  • In this video we install an ECOVACS GOAT G1 Robot Lawn Mower for the first time.
This video is in real time so I appoligise for the length of the video.
We run through the basic details of the robotic mower, install the base station.
Then work our way through the intuitive ECOVAC app to set up the robot mower and schedule.
We also show the robot mower working and completing its first autonomous mow and border cut.

Do you think it is better suited to tropical climate than the landroid?

The GOAT will travel over and turn on thick grasses quite well. It does also have a better IP rating than most of the Landroids. So for humid climate the GOAT and the WR149E Worx will be very similar, but the other Worx models are more susceptible to getting moisture inside them due to the humid weather.

@@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 biggest issue I had with the WR149E is the rain sensor being on the mower. When parked it it's "garage" it doesn't know it's been raining all night and it goes out to mow a swamp.... Also when it starts raining it didn't make it back to the dock before being drowned. Only takes about 15min in a good storm to have the lawn covered by 2inches water.

@@andrefischer5025 if it still works after that then I would considder that a great test of its IP rating 👌. I have seen customers put a small hose around the garage cove so the rain is still able to fall on the rain sensor in the garage. This stops it from going out if it is raining. As for the robot getting home before it rains too much, all robots will be in the same boat (pardon the pun) as they all use very similar rain sensing devices.

@@robotlawnmowersaustralia7913 the WRE149E only survived 1 and half seasons up here….. was an expensive experiment. My conclusion is until they got external rain sensor / ground moisture/ online weather options, they are not suited for the top end of Australia. The disappointing thing is, whilst the required changes are technically simple and easy there’s not demand for it and so it won’t get implemented. You already got an internet connected app - takes no effort at all to add external rain sensor or online weather data, those things are publicly available for irrigation. Put an option in to just “stop & stay put” instead of return to base when it rains. It’s really not that hard.

    Is it water proof

The ECOVACS GOAT G1 is X6 and the base station is X4. So you can hose the robot from above and below, but the base staiton is ony water proof from above.
