  • In this time lapse video with real time narration and captions, Doris Ettlinger uses pure pigment and strong contrasts to turn an already lovely lacecap hydrangea into a dramatic watercolor painting. Her techniques include pressure strokes to create hard and soft edges, dropping strong color into wet washes, negative painting, spattering, and glazing. Originally recorded for the Musconetcong Watercolor Group of northwestern New Jersey.
Pigments: Permanent Rose, Hansa Yellow Light, Cobalt, Sap Green, Cerulean, Ultramarine. And probably Black for the bee.
Brushes: Silver Black Velvet (various sizes), DaVinci sable no.12, Loew Cornell Ultra Round no. 10, rigger brush.
Paper: Fabriano 140 lb. cold press

Your painting style is lovely! Very much appreciate these videos and particularly where you share the reasons for the decisions you have made for accomplishing particular effects over the course of the tutorial ( eg, colors selection in the background , the bee and so much more)! Thank you.

@@ElnazAshouri I’m afraid videos from Zoom recordings are subject to moments of poor WiFi connections. I wish that were not the case.
