This is one of the best versions on youtube of the INTERMEZZO from the Italian Opera CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA by Pietro MASCAGNI (1863-1945). It was composed in 1890 and universally recognized as one of the most beautiful compositions for Orchestra (transcripted to Piano) of the 2nd. half of Century XIX.

However, we were able to send her off to the wonderful strains of Cavalleria Rusticana eight years later. Consequently it's very difficult to hear this without becoming tearful.

On my first few weeks there, I attended a cultural orientation about Italy and one of the topics discussed was Italian operas. The presenter discussed this opera with played music and description. I enjoyed it and became more educated about operas. Also discussed were Neopolitan songs specialmente Torna a Surriento y Matinnata. What a wonderful experience per me.
