    What's it really like working as an engineer in a luxury car company? Is there big money to be made? And do engineers have work-life balance? To find out, I met up with my good pal, David, who works as an engineer for one of the world's biggest car brands 👌
    From Tesla and Elon Musk to Tim Cook and Apple, engineers are some of the richest, most powerful business leaders on the planet. But I wanted to know what it was like just starting out in a career at these innovative technology companies 🤔
    So yeh - this is what working for Mercedes or Porsche, Land Rover or Tesla is REALLY like. David explains everything from his daily routine as an engineer to how car companies go from having an idea for a new car to bringing that to market. I found this a crazily informative conversation and learnt so much about what engineers actually do day to day, so I'm super excited to share this with you 🙌

    About Me
    I'm a trainee lawyer, part-time CZcamsr, son, brother, startup founder, boyfriend, black coffee drinker and plant dad. I graduated from Cambridge University (where I studied French and Spanish), topped my law school class and now work for a corporate law firm in London as a trainee solicitor (which takes up a lot of my time)!
    Around that I'm a big fan of discovering new ways of thinking, of balancing work with life, and of performing to the very best of my ability. Ohh, and being happy. And I try to share all that on this CZcams channel 😀
    Fun fact: I believe we massively overplay the role of “natural talent” 😮 AND… I also believe that TOGETHER, WE ARE ALL CAPABLE OF POSITIVITY, PRODUCTIVITY AND SUCCESS.

    Hey, Great video! I'm an electronics and communication engineer myself, and I think, no matter the work you do (Engineering, or law)... there is always a balance between personal productivity, team building, social interactions, general productivity. And I really look up to you guys and how you balance all of it! Kudos! :)

    Very interesting insights. From my perspective, it seems like this salary for engineers is pretty low in the UK. In Germany, for example, they start around €60-65k in big companies.

      Thank you! Yep - I think it is probably a little lower than much of the world, at least at the very start of your career, but also better hours 😝

    Do lawyers actually earn more than engineers? There was no mention of how much a lawyer makes as reference to an engineer in the video. I would really like to know.

    • @liam.porritt
      @liam.porritt  Před 2 lety

      In the UK, generally, yes - work-life balance is likely to be worse than an engineer, but after 3 years, an engineer probably expects to earn £35,000-£60,000 and a lawyer £50,000-£140,000
