Building professional relationships is a skill like any other. Nobody should approach anything with the mindset of “because I’m this and that way I can’t do it”. Screw that, just go for it. Practice makes perfect and they’re called social skills for a reason. They’re skills like any other.

As a mechanical engineer looking into starting a weekend drone business, specifically mapping and modeling, this was a great video. Thank You.

I’m a surveyor in the same situation.

@@73Goodfellow my situation changed, I had my first kid! I was the type to never want kids but after holding the little thing I no longer wanted to be traveling during my only time I could enjoy family time. Instead, I started a small 3D printing shop which allows me to operate from my home. So far I'm doing okay for weekend printing and I enjoy designing stuff. I still dream of having a drone business, it's not for me right now. I know there's lots of money in the industry, I hope you get something going.

Kevin is awesome! Such a great guy. I did a one on one course with him when I first started with Drone U. He's been a mentor ever since. I was also fortunate enough to accompany him one day at Amazon NW ABQ. In March I got a 95% on my Part 107 through the DronenU courses. I have since worked a handful of commercial jobs through Dronebase. Hungry for more work so glad I saw this video. Thanks guys!!!

Pretty good advice….Ill keep my day job as I navigate this drone business stuff. Just trying to wrap my head around the 3-5 years to get established…we all want it to jump right to busy. Plus with winter setting in North Idaho makes it a bit tough as well. But great videos guys!! Love these.

New client probably doesn't have any idea of the value added by your business. Give then a first go for free. If it adds value and they can see it you have a client for life. Build relationships. Spread out and find your niche. Keep your job and take a day off if you nedd too. Fly every day. Fly as many types as you can from Autonomous to racing. Moat of all enjoy it. The business is new and growing.

Bald guy has a point. I'm an engineer level student that fkd up at varsity and have been hit hard by life as a result. Ppl don't care what you bring to the table... only what they can take from you and having bad social skills really sucks when it comes to defending yourself in that manner let alone just being liked

Looking forward to enter this realm. I live in the DC Virginia Maryland area and work for DC Water. There is great opportunity if you are determined to jump through red tape and use connections made.
Love my day job working for in DC has its patriotic feelings.
Figures cross 3 weeks and i take my part 107.

So if I was to get into the business and I was looking for a a drone job.. and my skills I was sharpening them and I think I’m ready to start making money!! What would you recommend for Job and what kind of drone should I get where I can get a lot of jobs would you recommend for me????

  • @cmdrefstathiusplacidus9003

I successfully passed 107. My parrot Anafi T is down as the camera gimble arm broke and having trouble finding any information on repair. do you have any information on leasing companies, as I need to look at other drones and don't have the cash to just buy one and even if I did not sure that would be the best way to go.

On real ID. Don't Tread on me? I don't think the police have the time, or interest to divert resources to something like this. Now extreme cases, where personal injury or significant property damage occurs, I could see something happening after the fact possibly. is it great I honestly don't think most people who have taken their part 107 would commit gross reckless endangerment scenarios. if that were the case they would be better off never even touching a FAA website with their real names and addresses. if the real ID system was tied into a mission filing system so if someone were to look you up on one of these apps they would clearly see briefs information about why you are flying a drone there, could be a solution? just like I believe airplane flight plans can be looked up.

  • @VerticalVictoryGarden

The way to answer if this is part time or full, is not the asking persons true intent. Answer the underlying concern. Are you legit. Interject you are new but insured, NIST drone standards accomplished and have sample work of the very output you need to provide (fill in why they are in need of to meet their needs). As an example.

He’s NOT thinking about price. If someone does it part time, they should have a lower price which IS ATTRACTIVE. Not everything boils down to “part time”… everybody starts part time in the beginning duh. No one can afford that
