Hey guys, I would love to know if any of you are interested in attending Middlebury, or are fellow Middlebury students/alumni from any of the programs I mentioned. I think it would be cool if you could comment a lil 🤏🏼 bit about your experiences at MIDD, so that people get a better idea of what it is like to go to middlebury + you could mention some things I missed 😁
Yoooo quiero. Me gustaría saber que carreras hay soy de Perú
I would love to go
Also, I forgot to mention, if you are extra extra extra serious about languages, you can also check out Midd's graduate/phd language programs and if you are interested in translation, education or localization degrees, you can check out Midd's master degree offerings at it's Monterey Campus 🧐🧐
I'm truly a hundred times EXTRA serious about inter alia translation and interpreting studies, but the thing is that I'm preparing for my master's in international law and all the other things need to be put off LOL
@@MrPolyglotGeo wow international law. That sounds amazing. Congrats!
@@KarenVanessaBuitrago THX :d
In languages they have DML, not PHD, but Masters is a wonderful program offering a year abroad or 4 summers . I did 4 summers in French, honestly best decision I ever made.
This is just the kind of Middlebury insider information that I've been wanting for a long time. I attended the Monterey Institute of International Studies (now called the Middlebury Institute} and have long been interested in the summer session. This video was not cheesy. I'm hoping to go some summer.
it's wonderful and people at midd are so incredibly welcoming. You'll have a great time if you go. I am interested in going to Monterey, so if you don't mind telling me, how did you like? and do you think it was worth it? :D
This was an excellent video. Thank you!
You're fascinating and inspiring, thank u
sounds tough but educational! thanks for making the video
no problem! Glad you found it useful
I wish I knew this existed when I was applying for colleges!
It's okay. You can apply to summer school. It's for all ages 😁 they also have scholarships and financial aid if you need that as well
I just got into the French summer immersion program! I'm nervous but really excited. I enjoyed your video. Cheers from St. Olaf College!
Dane, I think we played ping-pong one night this past summer 😂
Hi! i was wondering if you knew what the acceptance rate for the summer immersion program is? Like is it really competitive? thanks so much:)
how did it go
@@christopherbowen9123 I'll be going back for my third summer this July. I would say it was a success! Changed my life forever :)
Definitely want to take advantage of the summer program 👍🏾
There is indeed a lot of work, but so fun cuz everyone is so motivated to learn the same language as you. You will build awesome friendships :D
thank you!!!
Yeah I liked your rant.
Thank you
I would absolutely love to go there for a summer. I’m not sure how expensive it is. It would take a lot of planning as I’m 29, married and have a job that’s hard to get away from for 8 weeks. But man if I could go, I would in a heartbeat
I believe it used to cost $10k, but now I think it's around $14k. Its expensive but pretty worth it imo, if you can stick to it that is. Experience is worth a million bucks, and jobs love to see second languages
@@mercya.4492 I need to look more into it! It would be cool if I could somehow convince my job to sponsor it 😂 pipe dream but man this experience would be amazing
Seems like language houses are really nice, we can study both languages and their culture.
Yes, and people are so happy to have the opportunity to learn the language and participate in activities. It's wholesome :)
Good video. Not so cheesy. You can forget words in your native language, I know as I have experience learning two languages.
Thank you very much! 👍😎😉
No prob! Glad you found the video useful!
Could you make a video all about your experience doing the German 18+ summer language school specifically?
Here you go: LEARNING GERMAN FOR 2 YEARS 🌟 2 YEAR TIME-LAPSE 🌟 FROM BEGINNER TO ADVANCED IN A LANGUAGE
such a pretty and bright woman, good ambassador for Midd
Bom dia, eu já estava com saudade.
+1 brasileiro por aqui, boa, man! i’m learning english too
Thank you very much
No problem. Glad you liked the video!
It sounds interesting ,fun an interactive at Middlebury. I took languages in high school and college in the 80's , but never got to hear the language spoken by anyone other than the teacher. That was one sentence at a time. Students should definitely take advantage of programs like this. Do you have to be proficient in a language before enrolling?
No, not at all! the college programs along with the summer school go from beginner to phd. I started learning German, Italian and Portuguese all at the beginner level. However, I will say that the beginner classes go really fast and are very intense. The good thing is that although they require you to go to a lot of language events, most events are fun and you get to bond with the people in your 101 class. Actually, I made great friends in my German 101 class because we were together for about 1-3 hours a day and there were only about 15 of us, so after a few months we knew each other very well 😊
Also, one of my friends started French and by her second year her French was almost as good as mine although I had studied for 10 years. It's crazy the progress peeps make
Got accepted to Midd and wanted to see an alumni’s opinion
Overall, was Midd worth it?
Thanks for your attention!
Congrats!! Yeah, it was worth it for me because of the languages. If you want to learn foreign languages, it is an incredible place. Aside from that, I think it’s a good university, but I think that’s the most special component if I’m being honest
I need a scholarship to go there!
There are so many scholarships for all the programs + they also offer financial aid based on need
Can you take it online
What languages do you specialize in?
I wanted to attend the summer program many years ago, but time and money didn't agree. A few years later, I had a classmate who had studied there. My Chinese was more advanced, but she could speak much more easily, and I'm sure that it was because of her experience there.
Now I'm hoping to send my daughter there next summer for the high school program. The school couldn't offer it this year (or last) due to Covid.
