    Very interesting. My dentist has always tried to get me to use electric brush. He won't have it any other way. I don't particularly like electric.

      My periodontist pushed an electric brush after my gum graft surgeries. Years later my regular dentist and hygienist said I was brushing too aggressively and it could lead to further recession. I switched to manual and got much better results. I like the extra soft nimbus the best. So far no comments from my regular visits besides keep doing what you're doing.

    As a hygienist, I totally agree with all of this! LOVE my Nimbus, and I never push an electric on my patients; I always go over TECHNIQUE first. You can do a worse job with an electric if you don't have the right technique down!

    Hey Dr. Nejad. What are your thoughts on fluoride vs nano hydroxyapatite?

    • @BiomimeticDentistry
      @BiomimeticDentistry  Před 8 měsíci +3

      Fluoride is more effective at protecting against demineralization but nano hydroxyapatite is more natural. If you brush and floss regularly and don’t have a high risk of cavities, I would go with nano HA

    Doc, regarding flossing: How should it be removed after you're done cleaning an area? Some dentists have told me to take it out by pulling it buccally (avoiding flossing the contact) but that just feels wrong.

    Can you recommend other manual toothbrushes? I tried the nimbus toothbrush and it irritated my gums.

    • @BiomimeticDentistry
      @BiomimeticDentistry  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I would make sure you try it for 5-days. If your gums weren’t being brushed, it will take a few days to adjust but that’s normal. Otherwise I would use electric then, there is no other manual brush with the design that cleans under the gums this way that I have tried.

      @@BiomimeticDentistryi am having a similar problem with the gum irritation for the nimbus. But i am also worried because i recently have had gum recession that isnt from periodontitis apparently. Is it possible the nimbus is a cause?

I've obviously found Nimbus buried in this selection but just thought I'd point it out.❤👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

    The Nimbus is both the softest and sharpest toothbrush I have ever tried. It feels incredibly soft but then feels like glass under the gums.

      I have only heard that once or twice before from patients that weren’t getting under the gums previously. Both report that it was for the first few days only then never again. How about you? Did you go a few days?

    • @joya424
      @joya424 Před 8 měsíci +5

      Can I chime in here and say I agree with the original poster's statement.
      I have periodontal disease and saw a new periodontist who brushed my teeth with this toothbrush. He didn't go into too much detail on technique, only that you can't brush too softly, you need to use some amount of force to get the plaque out from under the gums. It was actually kind of painful. That's the first time I've ever heard any dental professional recommend using a toothbrush so hard.
      Afterwards, I saw his wife, who worked up my procedure details. I used it in front of her to try to understand the technique better, and she kept telling me to use the brush so that the long bristles were kind of splayed out on top of my gums and I guess using the shorter bristles to get underneath the gums, which required what I thought was a lot of pressure.
      I tried it at home, and the bristles stabbed my gums like an ice pick at times. A few days later it looked like I was getting more recession, while at the same time, it seemed to reduce the amount of plaque I have. I stopped using it so forcefully but after another day or so, the gum on one tooth was very sensitive and red. Maybe one of the longer bristles stabbed it too hard or something. I'm glad you made this video because it's not at all the way the brush was demonstrated to be used at that periodontist's office. @@BiomimeticDentistry

    I literally have 3 missing upper front teeth. The dentist keeps changing what he wants to do. The issue is I’m obviously not a dentist so the technical language isn’t something I’m familiar with nor techniques. So he could be saying anything to me. I have spent so much money.
