The art of chanting is a form of praying - Fr. Cherubim Tsinoglou

  • The liturgical life of our Church is beautifully accompanied by chant music, which began with the emergence of the Christian faith from the "underground" worship, the hidden worship of the catacombs, to the glorious liturgies of the impressive temples that we know today. But Byzantine music is not only an atmospheric art, which is simply present to accompany the worship.
Byzantine music is now an integral part of the worship life of our Church, and through it all, the Church's fullness prays in common and participates in common in the sacrament. The Byzantine music of our churches is not, therefore, a mere manifestation of musical aesthetics, but a real moment of prayer, of the cantors and the listeners at that moment.
With Fr. Cherubim Tsinoglou, preacher of the Holy Metropolis of Edessa, Pella and Almopia.
