My hubby's parents are lifelong conservatives and were avid Trump supporters, which was really difficult for the rest of the family. Around the time that COVID hit, they decided to get a TV antenna and stop using cable. So, my hubby found what they needed and set it up for them. During the set-up, he noticed that he could not get FOX for them. They weren't happy, but there was nothing we could do. Fast-forward about a year, and they were absolutely DONE with Trump and the whole gang. It was amazing and most welcome. Media matters. Thank you for everything you do. I love your wisdom and compassion, and I also love your humor. Blessed be.

I am blessed with children and grandchildren who see the truth about Trump. They want equality for all. I do have a niece that supports Trump and is part of QAnon. That saddens all of us, but she lives in another state so we can ignore it. I am grateful for my family.

At a certain point politics is not just politics. When people support separating children from their parents and putting them in cages and stoking racial hatred and division, and so on, these are not political differences. These are differences of values and morality.

I lost a best friend of 40 years & several family members. At this point I’m beginning to believe they just can’t admit they were wrong. I just can’t fathom that they are still all ignorant to this con man! I keep praying for their enlightenment but it seems futile at this point. Thanks Maryann 💙💙

Thank you Marianne for talking about this. My issue is not with family members but with a friend and spiritual mentor who is a Trump supporter. She also believes DeSantis is “a good governor.” I’ve decided that she can no longer be my channeling mentor. How can someone teach classes as she does about loving kindness but support cruel, racist, bigoted, sadistic politicians who lack morals, ethics and basic human decency.? Yet I still struggle with keeping her as a friend as people are more than just their political beliefs. And people are entitled to their beliefs, as long as they don’t harm others. It’s a huge internal struggle for me that I’ve yet to solve.

Thank you for addressing the elephant in the room. Because of the horrifying abuse of power exhibited by the GOP primarily since the pandemic started, I’ve leaned away from an independent ideology to a more liberal viewpoint. My son (a marine corp veteran) and his wife, however, are republican and 45 supporters. Because I love them so much, and because I want to have a relationship with my grandkids, I avoid political conversations and restrain my responses to their little digs related to their perceived failures of the left politically. Somehow, we’ve been able to salvage and grow our relationships. This has happened with patient, abiding love and respect on both sides and has been difficult. I can’t imagine how this would have gone if either side had been unwilling to bend. Maryanne, your wisdom, love, and readings have been a beacon to me personally as I navigated this terrible time period. Much love to you.❤

My friend is retiring and must live with her daughter who are trumpets. The awful part is she pretends to like trump to keep the peace. My family is also mostly trumpets however I stand for democracy and I’d rather be true to myself then live a lie. . For several years now I no longer confide with my aunt who before I looked up to and respected - however i can no longer tolerate her strict Catholicism and trumpism telling me that on jan 6th the “ capital police just opened the doors and let them in.” She is completely brainwashed and sadly will die a trumpet even though most of her children are democrats. 😢

I’ve lost several friends including the one I was with on election night 2016 who comforted me as I cried about the election results. His libertarian friends turned him into someone I don’t recognize. I’ve lost a cousin who turned into a rabid dog over 45. My sister watches Fox, so I limit political speak with her. It’s astounding how people have revered the very scum that we were all warned about when we were little, or at least somehow I learned that people must have integrity to earn my trust.
My family member is a GB News watcher (British Fox) and sometimes I feel like he just wants to be angry and uses it to fuel that internal discontent. His life ostensibly is fine but he feels it could be better without immigrants and his 'way of life' changing.... Whatever that means.
@@catethornton3270 You hit it on the head with one word - "angry". My sister, who is extremely intelligent, has been pulled into the cult. I saw it happening and couldn't do anything about it. But she has always been a very negative person. One of the sweetest people I have ever known with a big heart, but negative. As she has gotten older she has only gotten more so, and this is coupled with anger and hatred. It's "their" fault that she is unhappy. And yet, she is gay (married her wife in 2015 after 42 years) and she worked hard and planned everything so that they have absolutely NO money worries (we are in our early 70s). Their house has been paid off for years and there is plenty of money in the bank. I went with her in 2015 to buy a car as her van had died, and when the lady started to talk about financing my sister said, no way, and wrote a check for over $30,000. I, on the other hand, live month to month. I am the little pig who built my house of straw. But I have always been a very positive person and I got rid of everything I owned and in 2018 I moved to Florence, Italy, and I am HAPPY. I had to make a rule with my sister that we can NEVER discuss politics, and so, we rarely speak because this cult and all the conspiracy theories consume her. She slips in some of those conspiracy theories in emails and I leave it alone now because I have always adored my big sister and I don't want to lose her entirely. I lost two people last year, two weeks apart, my cousin and the only man I ever loved and she is all that is left of my family. I can only hope that she eventually sees the light, but I am not holding my breath, and I can't, I WON'T let it bring me down. Not even one iota. Happiness is a choice and it is my choice. I can't make that choice for anyone else - no one can.
It’s disturbing to hear friends language change. I have a trump supporting friend who teaches channeling. She teaches about loving self and others but her language and her energy slowly changed and she began using hate filled words -talking about enemies, immigrants, people who have “vendettas,” all democrats are stupid” etc. very strange how deeply this political cult has changed people .
I feel that a lot of Trump diehards are addicted to the chaos that allows them to rage. They’ve been angry for a long time ABOUT MANY THINGS IN THEIR LIVES and don’t know how to let go of the addiction to expressing rage and hatred since it’s now been normalized by Trump and MAGA. They are really full of fear

I'm so sad that politics has divided my family. I've had conversations with conservative relatives and even found common ground. The difference now is the hate. I don't do hate, so I have had to cut some toxic family members. The sadness and grief have been profound.

This is a tough one! When you realize someone you love, whether family or friend, is a Trump supporter! I decided to just not engage with any discussion around politics, and have had to ask that we agree to keep politics out of our discussions. This agreement allows us to share the things that bind us and allows the love for one another to flow.

The fear mongering and the hate of anyone who is different from themselves. Racists and guns have become increasingly popular in our lives.
I have to believe that this will not be sustainable. Cruelty and corruption are not the process that is going to satisfy their desires for revenge and inflicting painful loss for the world . It is easier to make peace and to get along and to enjoy life.
Crazy and insane as it is now, I have faith that we will learn from this problem and we will vote and elect the people who are not going to continue with this game of Cruelty and hatred.
There are many more people who want peace and love in life. The process is very hard to endure but we all have to continue to work hard to keep our lives safe and be able to get out of this place of hostilities and greed with the rampant criminal activities that are happening in this country and the world.
Respect, dignity, integrity, kindness, compassion, peace, love, and the clarity of our responsibilities in this matter of evolutionary reimagination of our lives. Peace is a verb and needs to be remade over and over again.
Make peace and be present in life with a strong heart and mind. Every single person is important for the best version of ourselves to be the dominant and the ability for our lives to be fulfilled and celebrated.

I actually feel this started long before tRump. When John Kerry ran for president, the GOP made everything French an ugly word because Kerry is married to a French woman, and began their derisive rhetoric against teachers; the GOP pushed the christian (small c) sentiment that W Bush was divinely appointed, so that pastors and priests were telling their parishioners not to vote Democratic; Dick Cheney made Fox News the government sanctioned media and promoted his hateful rhetoric; and Mitch McConnell ramped up his Senate strict control to override Obama's constitutional rights. All this has been the GOP plan long before tRumpus, who gave them the right person to go full bore.

As we know the veil is getting thinner ; a shift is taking place now due to collective consciousness mirroring what we need to learn, and mostly evolve from. In America we still Protest and March for Peace ☮️ sign petitions etc. I value our legal system more now. You are right, we are coming together. People in general are more interested in politics; I am 75 years young and ready to March for Equality and Freedom.💙🇺🇸
My parents live in another province and they are elderly. They are visiting me for my wedding. My mom and I got in a fight yesterday because she says Zelenskyy is a horrible person and Putin is trying to free Ukraine. She says Trump won’t get convicted and won’t go to prison and oh, Hunter Bidens laptop, and Joe Biden should go to prison. She watches a “Christian channel” called Flashpoint. We decided to agree to disagree. Her truth is not my truth. She says that all the books I’ve read are biased to the left so she doesn’t put any weight in it . I felt extremely sad yesterday. I agree it’s a matter of maturity. I’m an American and I’ve seen and experienced enough of this division. My personal opinion is that many of us are using survival strategies to navigate our relationships. The trauma responses of fight, flight,freeze… The issue is that survival strategies are about me, myself and I, not us, we. It’s you or me not you and me. There can never be resolutions, repairs or solutions. Especially people who default to fight. It’s winner take all, might makes right, divide and conquer, winning by numbers… Ironically these tactics are also known as patterns of abuse. I’m very sad to hear about the viewer who had a gun pulled on her. And people can’t see the nose on their face because they are not in the part of the brain that accesses logic and reasoning. You absolutely have to evolve enough to recognize what part of your brain you’re in. You absolutely need to develop the skills necessary to self regulate. It’s very difficult. I struggle myself. I have complex ptsd. I totally get it. But we aren’t talking about people who have bad moments. We are talking about people stuck in their trauma responses as a way of life. That’s the main mental health issue here. Not just the people living this way, but the effects of it on the people around them. Most of the trauma I have to heal from came from other people’s unhealed trauma they took out on me. Anyway, love these chats. So happy you’re here. Sending love and gratitude 🙏🏽

I can relate to the talk of divisions in families. My cousins in West Virginia all support trump and it’s really sad. I ditched my fb account around 4 years ago, mainly because I couldn’t take it any longer. I had one cousin that I used to feel close to that would follow me around on all of my comments on fb and then inject his views in the comments. It was like he had an obsession with my political views and he didn’t agree. When my mom passed away, not one of them offered condolences. I’m done with them forever as I can’t be friendly with people who are so obviously full of hatred. It really does sadden me that this is the way it will be forever. I will never get an apology so I’m just done with them. And while it makes me sad, I’m ok with it. I only associate with loving people who want the best for humanity. Thanks Maryann, have a good day.
The universe is changing for the better, even though it might not seem like that, and the people who are still resonate on a lower level are fighting against this evolvement of consiousness and Trump and his supporters are fighting this change, they are all running around in the same energy circle. we have to keep up our own high energy level by not getting upset, frustrated or angry. Let us pray that Trump's supporters see the light and realise that they can change and be a better person. There are no coincidences in life and there is a reason for everything and we all have to walk our own path and do the things we feel are right.

I'm from Canada and I would never put politics before family. I look at Americans and this I just can't understand how politics tear up family's. When I talk politics I say what I feel. If you don't vote well you have no say in anything. Lots of people say voting won't change anything they are all corrupted but I say if one day they take away your right to vote you will not fight for it ? When your rights are taken away it will be to late ! Be well Maryann and always love to listen to you !

Thank you Maryann. Always a pleasure to visit with you. My mother died last year and my father moved in with me and my husband soon thereafter. They were both supporters of 45. They only watched Faux News, even after me suggesting strongly that they would do well to ALSO watch other channels. Nope. Now, after several months of my father being passively exposed to MSNBC and other news sources that we watch (he does have a TV in his own room and can watch what he wants in there), my father is no longer a supporter of 45. He says he's disgusted with him. He still supports the Republican party, but I'm starting to see some cracks in that wall as well. It's only because he had no other choice but to move in with us that he is finally starting to see and hear Truth. Faux News HAS TO GO OR CHANGE.

As we move out of 3D and completely let go of duality, lower forms of power, capitalism as monitory power, WE need to see what WE are loosing. It is loss of the familiar & a fear of change that we see in those who keep trying to hang onto the PAST.
This is different. This is deeper. Supporting a character that wants to hurt our country, our constitution. Not seeing the evil focus has me questioning who my family is. Even after 4 indictments! I cannot be around people supporting a scammer, conman, a lier. He did nothing but divide the country and families still today. Its heartbreaking.

Its sad politics has hit at a more personal level, I had to stay away from my folks for 8 monthes was very vile I was baffled scratching my head asking who my folks are, I've never seen this side of them, its so sad this menace destroyed family's at a local level 😢
On family.
My father's parents were Danish and French. They taught never soeak on politics, relegion or marriage. They spoke French at the dinner table, Danske for politics and English with friends and neighbors. Look at the dust coming off their graves.

Thank you, Maryann. I’m really enjoying these podcasts. The hardest thing we ever had to go through was having a MAGA daughter. Her marriage started spinning completely out of control during Trump’s presidency and they even separated. Nothing was working. They went to counseling and pulled it together. In the end, they decided they are done with politics. My Son-in-Law claims he will never vote for a Republican again because he gets that they not friendly to his small business. They actually deny ever voting for him and for the most part we don’t talk about it. I don’t watch cable news anymore so I’m not mad all the time. It’s a compromise.
Thank you as always Maryann and good morning to you from Middletown, Ohio. I wanted to share my view of the religious MEGA CHURCHES. I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and we had our share of them. The pastors (if you want to call them that) have so much power over their congregations. The Cathedral of Tomorrow (Rex Humbard) eventually was closed and was sold when he relocated to Florida , never to hear about him again. Another pastor whose church was not from where I lived Ernest Angely was and still is a nut job. When his wife passed away he was able to obtain approval from the Township to bury her on the church property. He buried her in front of the huge water fountain with a phone in her casket for her to call him anytime. This is a fact as he did a TV interview stating the same. There is a reason I stated this information is that there is a MEGA CHURCH here in town. My neighbors who moved in a yr & a half ago attend this church. They moved to Ohio from Texas as her son and grandbabies now live here. The church had them both convinced them to vote and put a sign in their yard to VOTE YES. The special election on Aug 8th was to change the percentage of votes from 51% to 60% to add bills to the State Constitution. I voted NO. The church had told them by voting YES it would not allow school nurses the authority to give all children a vaccine to prevent the children from becoming TRANS SEXUAL. This totally blew my mind and had them repeat the same. I then explained what the Republicans tried to do and I also advised them to google it and it will confirm this. I am a Christian and believe in God, but the wacked out pastors of the MEGA Churches and not to forget the smaller ones also. I did not mean to give such a dissertation, but once a pastor develops his cult it is not something that can be changed easily. :)

45 has split my family. My nephews - brother‘s sons - made abusive comments to me on FB. It was so bad that I had to unfriend them. I don’t go to the family events with them anymore. Thankfully my sisters and my other nephews never supported 45.

This family/friends/colleagues is the saddest aspect of this American Tragedy. Tho nowhere near the myopia we are currently living thru, I was recently made aware of the Kennedy cult. Now on 60 plus years some simply will not listen to anything negative against this evil family. Yes, excuses, no matter what facts are presented. I have had family and friends turn their backs on me in both cases. And, it might as well be racked up as permanent. 60 years is a very long time to hold onto lies, I have little to no hope MAGA will ever see clearly in the future.
My little sister, who I used to be close with, having grown up sharing a room, is a QANON follower and a Covid denier. My relationship with her is all but gone. The rest of my family are Republicans so I have just stopped having any communication with any of them.
My large southern family are all extreme right wing people. I am the sole progressive, and I have been treated vey unkindly by various family members although I never bring up politics and am very polite when someone says something political. But my silence and positive regard for them has not changed it. I have a serious neurodegenerative disease and had no supplement for my Medicare on disability and had to pay 20% of all bills. My mother told me to get out of her country if I don’t like it. She was out protesting Obama care with her Tea Party pals numerous times. Interestingly, she was a moderate republican among our clan until she became demented. I traveled to visit cousins and discovered my mother had told them all I am progressive, so on a vacation at their house, they treated me pretty badly. Lots of anger over wanting Wyoming to start fracking to pull in state money. Thanks Mom.
I am sorry to hear this. What I didn’t talk about is how when beliefs are so extreme how they can target people in the room who they perceive as different to them. A lot of cruelty results. We see this magnified in the way people speak about minorities and LGBTQ son social media. Unfair, bigoted and cruel. However there is a spiritual ledger remember and while not wishing ill, I do know we all have to answer for ourselves when we transition.
