Jackson Chourio is starting to look like that guy in the middle of the batting order that opponents have to game plan or pitch around. Helps the whole lineup. The Brewers haven't had that since prime Yelich in 2018/2019.

Sale can’t be tired, snit has made sure only to pitch him once every two weeks. Sale actually looks rusty due to not pitching in a regular 5 day rotation.

Morton was 3-1 with a 1.01 ERA in his last 6 home starts before this. Not what I expected at all.

I can explain, it is blistering hot in Georgia, last games of the home-stand are usually less busy, the Governor and other businesses had rented out a lot of the seats and then left, and we were losing badly recently.

@@s.s.chapter2219 The battery outside of the stadium is where most people go after leaving the stadium. There are a good amount of people who were simply sitting out in shaded area watching on the big screen they have there.

First of all 2021 could easily repeat itself. It's hilarious that people ridicule them for not being able to pull it off twice. Before it is even confirmed. Yeah we attract haters it's cool. For the record though. With this rotation we are beyond fucked. Lost the core of our lineup and rotation.
@@mattkeller5913 in 2021, the Braves acquired swagger and bravado in one man who was able to convince the entire locker room to have the same attitude. That ain’t happening this year. This locker room is too full of really nice guys who can play baseball really well. But to win high stakes, you gotta have some arrogance. Braves don’t have it this year.

Was dominated the entire series, lost this one pretty early just like tuesday. 5 losses in a row, and on the brink of losing the playoff spot we hold. We have just had flat out bad stretches this season, wondering when we were going to get it together but that remains questionable. Now off to Colorado for a 10 game west coast trip. #ForTheA

That is not why. I work there and the reason has to do with the hot temperatures during the morning game, school just starting up, and a lot of seats being rented out by businesses. The braves are making more than enough money that rivals NFL teams.
I said this on yesterday's game as well but whoever the pitching coordinator is for Atlanta needs to be seriously reconsidering his strategy going into these games. Someone else said it almost looks like they are trying really hard to actively not win but I doubt that's the case, the optics of it are still awful though and this is how you make sure your team is demotivated and has no way of returning from a slump.

Week day noon and its been in the mid 90s here
Sadly the Braves are done and even though Acuna won’t be back this year, it’s unlikely (possible but I wouldn’t bet on it) Olson bounces back to what he was last year (4th in MVP voting, 54 homers, .993 OPS 163 OPS+ (meaning he’s better than 63% of the hitters in MLB), 139 RBIs, 127 runs, and 30 extra base hits that weren’t HRs.
Im not going to post Olson’s numbers but if you follow the Braves you know he’s on pace for like 24 HRs, a .418 slugging % compared to .604 last year. At the plate he’s been…. Unbelievably bad. But he’s having another great year with the glove and that’s been a part of how good the Braves’ rotation was before even more injuries (Fried, Reynaldo, Sale).
The aforementioned 3 starters were all CYA candidates at the all star break but they’ve all gotten banged up.
Also Alex Anthopolous has been an excellent GM during his tenure but he made 2 moves that made absolutely ZERO sense.
First, he didn’t claim James Paxton, who, while his advanced metrics are awful, his 1 year, prorated contract was absolutely worth claiming him (teams with the worst records in league of the team cutting the player then it goes to the AL starting with the worst record there.
Paxton became available when Fried got hurt, Reynaldo had gotten hurt a few days earlier and Sale not having this kind of workload in years has all come to pass.
The Braves didn’t want to pay Paxton $3M for the rest of the year but agreed to pay Solano $8M this season and $36M the next 2 seasons.
If you look at Soler’s numbers when he joined Atlanta they compare pretty favorably to 2021 Acuna. No steals from Soler and his RF defense will be bad (only a madman would move Ozuna off of DH). All of that’s fine if he hits like he did after becoming a Braves in 2021 and in the World Series that year.
But one thing Anthopolous forgot? Soler always produces…. WHEN HES IN A CONTRACT YEAR. Soler has $36M coming no matter what. He has no motivation to get after it.
Even if you look at his first year it was awful. He was much better in 2023 because why? It was a contract year which led to the Giants and now Braves foolishly giving and taking on a $54M contract.
Maybe the Braves winning mentality and friendship with Ozuna will help him prosper. But this is the problem with giving guys like this anything more than a 1-2 year deal even if it’s more AAV.
Unless Riley can keep up his hot streak, Olson gets hotter, Soler finds his rhythm, Ozuna keeps doing what he’s doing and the starters get healthy the Braves might have a chance to sneak into the final wild card. Super unlikely though at this point. You can’t have a 5 game home losing streak to the Marlins and Brewers Crew missing Yelich and their best pitchers

Heat index near 100 in Atl today, school is back in as of Monday for all Metro Atl schools, and it was a 12:20 game. I am an A-List partial season-ticket holder and these games, nicknamed the “business man’s special” have lower attendance anyway, even when we’re winning, but this losing streak I’m sure also didn’t help. 😕
