That must've been expensive! Did you have any fee waivers? I have 4 college app fee waivers because of the SAT. I only have 6 colleges that I absolutely know I want to apply to right now. I want to have WAYYYY more but I don't want to waste my money applying to a school that won't give me good financial aid.
Honestly, I didn't spend much to apply to the schools. If you qualify for a waiver a lot of schools will not even charge you a fee (on the common app). Most of my expenses came from sending the CSS profile and test scores to the different schools. Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss my upcoming videos that will give more of an insight on the cost of applying to school and hacks to pay less money.
I think you can get four more waivers for the act. Ask your counselor
Iâm in middle school so donât get mad.. *YOU HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO APPLY TO COLLEGE*
@@1ordmag Yup. My most expensive application was $75 I believe.
@@shmace I applied to over 20 schools and had no fee waivers. The most expensive application was $135.
im glad i'm not the only one who plans on applying to 15+ schools
I was right there in the same mindset. People really thought I was playing when I told them the amount of schools I applied to for college. Remember to start early because a lot of the applications are time consuming.
"there's no school I can't get into because I have the blessing of God over my life." I needed to hear that because I will be transferring from a community college into a university in 2019. I did not believe in myself and did not apply to enough schools my senior year. However, God has a plan, so I later received some scholarships and grants and now I don't have to worry about my first two years of college. You really inspired me to push myself further. I'll be applying to Towson University, University Of Maryland College Park, Old Dominion University (again even though I was already accepted. I decided not to go because I needed more money), Spelman College, Howard University, Hampton University, Clark Atlanta University, NCAT, and UMBC
Wow! You are awesome and thatâs an awesome testimony. I think community college is a great route to go in and I absolutely would suggest it to everyone. Thank you for you comment. You have made my day!! All of the schools you are planning to apply to are some really good universities and I know which everyone God places you in, you will love!!
Go odu monarchs
Girll literally you are goals
I hope when I finally start applying to colleges that I'll get a full ride to some cause med school is gonna be expensive
Thank you! I hope you get a full ride too. Subscribe because a scholarship video is coming soon.
You are VERY ambitious. I admire that. When I applied to college back in the early 1990's, I only applied to 10 schools I think. Grad school in the late 90's was even slimmer at 4 programs. I think nowadays you have to apply to more schools, because technology has revolutionized the college application process.
financial aid didn't play any part in you getting denied to those schools, they don't even see your financial information during the admissions process
Ja dk Financial aid information does not affect your admissions decision but documentation is required to be submitted with your application and I missed that deadline. Thank you for your comment and be sure to subscribe!
It actually does play a role, depending on if the school is need-blind or need-aware. The schools she were not accepted to were mostly need-aware on a sliding scale
Your positivity and confidence about college admissions is so inspiring đđœđđœđđœ
I'm in my senior year and prepping to apply to colleges and I get very down sometimes over my ACT score and lack of solid extracurriculars in 9-11 grade. I have to remember that, like you said, GOD reigns over my life and that His will will be done in the end.
It was so cool seeing the logos for all the schools you applied to on the screen!
Have a great first year đâš
Thank you! Congratulations on making it to your senior year. ACT/SAT scores and extracurricular do play a big part applying to college but I would not worry because what's done is done. I have a video coming soon about how to get a higher ACT/SAT score and it may help you. Regardless, I wish you the best of luck on you application journey and I'm confident that you will be okay.
O Williams vf
this is so cool. unc is lucky to have u ! happy to see ur hard work payed off
Financial aid had nothing to do with why you didn't get accepted. The admissions office doesn't even see that you've applied for financial aid, only the office of financial aid does. But congrats on the schools you did get into!
No you did not get denied because of financial aid. You chalk it up to that if it makes you feel better, but all of those super competitive schools don't look at your financial aid status when reading your application. In fact they all have a completely separate financial aid department that looks at what you should get based on your socio-economic status. Otherwise congrats on the other schools.
Thank you for your feedback! Also, thank you for the complement! Please be sure to subscribe.
The problem was not that she opted for financial aid but that she didnât know her financial aid documents and profile also had to be submitted around the admissions round deadline. If you donât submit those on time, they donât consider your application at all.
,.
You are literally goals! My dream school in Georgia Tech, but my SAT is not what it needs to be either. It was nice to see someone who got in who didn't have a crazy high ACT. Im sooo stressed about it. I'll be taking my SAT for the fourth time next week đ This was inspiring to hear! Thank you for sharing your story!
Thank you!! I am so glad I could be of help. College applications are stressful all in themselves so no need to stress about your SAT. Do your best, but regardless your going to end up in your right place. Best of luck to applying to Georgia Tech!
I wanna go to Georgia tech too good luck
Original_ Luffy if you do get it, welcome to hell
I love this video. Your personality is so refreshing. đ
"I can get into any school with God's blessing over me." AMEN SISTER!
Congrats on getting into you first choice and have a good time in college
Wow! It's so nice to see you succeed! Your an assets to your family, community and your country!
You are so impressive girl!!! I can only hope and pray Iâm able to get into that many schools with that much money!!!
This honestly inspires me so much! â€ïž *new subscriber
Thank you!
Thanks for this blessing. Currently in the marine corps and this video was very helpful â€ïž
All these videos about getting rejected worry me. I've never had straight A's, I'm not very smart, I'm not that involved, I do nothing outside of school, and seeing like the valedictorians getting rejected make me feel like I won't even get accepted to any college.
I don't want people to know who I am Check out my 2 part Personal Statement video. Your personal statement plays a huge role on your application. If you have a strong one it can be very helpful to give your application a competitive edge.
Being book smart aint all that. Colleges look for students who are more than a GPA. Community service and overall involvement makes you look unique. Take advantage of the opportunities you get in school. Ive walked miles and wake up at 5:30AM to take the bus and made it work. You have to put in the effort if you truly want something. If you feel like you wont get in then you wont get in. Be positive, thats one thing Im learning my senior year right now. And I feel pretty good lol....
Hi, I can see that there's stress, so I'll give some words of advice:
I've gotten a 2.6 and am going into an architecture program at a great school despite not meeting all of the requirements. I've seen people with less than a 2.5 GPA get into biomed programs and political science programs despite being /way/ below the requirements, and these are decent to top schools they're getting into.
There may be something that you put an effort into but aren't considering. Could be drawing, or make-up, or knitting, anything at all. Use that to your advantage. Maybe if you've had an epiphany after an event that changed your thought-process, good or bad, write about that. Maybe, if you have the physical or mental ability to, get a small part-time job as that can show work ethic. If you want to, community colleges are a great way at a fresh start, and there are ways to learn things and get jobs without even going to school.
You have more options than you believe. Just ignore what people want you to do, and do things for your own sake instead. If you can't do things for yourself, then spite works too.
Advice: donât stress. I have a friend who got Câs most of high school, and she got full ride scholarship offers from TWO colleges for criminal justice. It may seem really stressful now, but itâll be ok in the long haul
I don't want people to know who I am same
I LOVE YOU! Thank you for the encouraging words! Wish you the best too :)
Thank you!
Congrats on your acceptance to UNC! I'm a first year at UNC as well and I felt like when I clicked on this video I recognized you but I wasn't sure where. Anyway I hope to see you around and good luck here
I feel like your name is familiar. We must have crossed paths before. Thank you for your complement and I hope see you around too!
I loved your story ! đđâ€ïž
your skin is literally flawless đđ
Thank you!! đ©đ
You are awesome! I know you will be very successful in life!
this is really off topic but your eyebrows are so pleasing omg
Thank you!!
awesome young lady! Proud of you!
Thank you!
i feel this on a spiritual level. sista i applied to 37 schools lmfao. overachievers assemble!!
This is very helpful, thank you!
No problem!! đ
I'm applying to 12 schools, my top choices are Union,Georgetown,George Washington & Emerson. Praying I get into at least one if not all đđđ
mother abigail im sure you will get into all of them. But, do not forget to apply for scholarships. Whether you need them or not your parents will thank you. Lol
This is such a nice video :) and you seem like such lovely person ! all the very best for your further studies !!
_love from India
Thank you for your support!
Great video! đ€đŻ
Thank you!! đž
Ha! No offense but a 26 for Yale! Sometimes they don't even accept perfect scores, aiming high.
Adison Halbert yea if ur Asian u ainât going anywhere with 26 on ACT. That a fact.
Calypso Shen Omg please shut up
Thatâs so cool that you can apply to as many places as you want, in the uk we can only apply to 5
Thank you! I didn't know there is a limit in the UK. I just learned something new.
You are AMAZING!
Btw, my husband went to UNC Chapel Hill and loved it. Very good luck!
I'm a Junior in high school and I really needed to hear this.
Holy crap I don't even think there's 30 collages where I live
lol im from chapel hill. Have fun at UNC!
I will! Thank you!
Did you ever go on to do anything with QuestBridge? I am also turning in a QuestBridge Application.
I did do the National College Match but I did not get selected as a Finalist. Once I got the notification of my status I only used Questbridge to waive the application fees for the schools I ranked.
I also did not get selected as a finalist. How did you use QB to waive your application fees, the website says to request through your school? Also, it's really nice to know im not the only person who is applying to 20+ schools!
Many of the schools will send you emails saying that even though you were not named a finalist they still want you to apply to their school. Some emails will include the code others may require you to take other steps.
Can you make a video on the ACT. Studying tips and what to expect? Also, when is the best time to take it and how many times? Im in 11th grade and ive only ever taken the PSAT
A video is coming soon. I'm having some guests with very high scores speak on how to do well on the ACT and the SAT.
wait so you don't have to do your sat to make it to these pretentious colleges because I'm a freshman in high school so I'm just trying to get this all organized in my mind so ill be prepared furthermore I'm actually trying to make it to Georgia Tech and for right now I have 4.0 gpa and I'm in fccla and I'm playing basketball for the school. Should I do more community service or anything else to get me more competitive early on in my high school career?
Georgia Tech is a great school! The university does require you to take standardized testing but they do not have a minimal score for either of the test. Just keep in mind that though they have not defined a score for admissions the majority of their serious applicant have high scores. In addition, I definitely suggest completing as much meaningful community service as possible. It's also a good idea to seek out leadership opportunities in your school and community.
Very informative video,,thx
Tiara Wright No problem!
Why didn't you apply for Northwestern/Washu? My act is a 25 rn but I'm taking it in september after studying a lot. I'm hoping to get a 33/34 but will probably get a 31. I'm like 90% sure I'm going to apply ED to Washu. I didn't know you could get into schools like vandy with a 26. This vid gives me hope.
I'm glad this video gives you hope. Really an high ACT is great but most competitive school have holistic applications where they look at other parts of your application like community service, extracurricular activites, etc. Northwestern and Washu were definitely some choices I looked into. I decided not to apply because I had already applied to so many schools.
I have a 31 too and I'm applying to northwestern ED! wow we are so similar!
Bianca Delbusto I got 30 on September and Iâm taking it again next week. And Iâm not applying ed anywhere anymore cuz washu doesnât have nursing and I donât want to do cs anymore
You canât unless the school is trying to meet a diversity quota due to affirmative action.
You're hoping to go up 7-8 points what
I'm a QuestBridge finalist and a prospective student to Vanderbilt. I was wondering when you applied to Vanderbilt, were you invited to the MOSAIC program in February? Thanks, and congratulations on UNC.
Congratulations! You are hilarious and wonderful :) I am happy for you, you deserve all that success. Are you in state for UNC-CH? And why did you turn down Vanderbilt? Congrats again
I am an in-state student for UNC. I chose Chapel Hill over Vanderbilt because it was closer to home and I got into Honors Carolina which offered more benefits to their students. Also, thank you for your complement đ
What a helpful video! I do have one question though: if you didnât like your ACT score, why didnât you retake the test?
Thank you! Also, for my ACT score, I was so busy my senior with school and extracurricular activities, I waited too late in the year to have time to retake the test.
I thought i was crazy for applying to 18 schools! God damn. Best of luck in school!
Thank you!
Hey! Case western is my DREAMM school. I love how itâs very STEM oriented. Did you apply EA/ED or RD? Thank you. God bless!
Finally found someone with a list bigger than my 17 lmao thanks for the video â€ïž
No problem!
Great video! Do you have a video of the scholarships you applied to?
Absolutely! Here is a link to my playlist about the scholarships I applied to, how to to get a scholarship and more. Link: czcams.com/play/PLHGTGs_vALPyGrzkAy_lAastgP4Z1U8dX.html
I am applying to 29 schools. I am just going to trust and just see what happens. 3.5 uw GPA but I have a 35 ACT. At this point, all I can do is pray. Thanks for this video!
Are you active on CZcams? I'm considering subscribing. I love your personality! I love ucla but I don't recommend ucla for out of state applicants only because I don't feel it's worth that out of state tuition :(
UCLA is a very nice school. I wanted to go there but God had other plans. Thank you for the complement. And yes I am active on CZcams, so subscribe so you don't miss any upcoming videos!!!
How was the application process for U. Of Miami. That is my top choice and I also live in North Carolina
The application process to U. Miami included the basic application and a few supplement questions. I submitted at least two recommendations along with my test score. The only noticeable difference between U Miami's application and other college was that the financial aid information and the application were due at the same time instead of the financial aid being due a few weeks later.
where are you from, you have a very interesting accent
I can tell she from the south. Id say memphis or Louisiana
Probably North Carolina, since she applied to so many schools from / near that state
Hoooooww did she get into those schools with a 26?? I'm so confused.... what was gpa?
Isha Lodhawala no clue đđ definitely wasnât because of an interview tho cuz that would be an immediate rejection lmao
She achieved a 4.0 (not-weighted)
Melosivitch24 ur soooo mean đ©đ©

hey, should i consider grade inflation/deflation of a college as a factor when i pick where i am going to?by the way, congratulations on the acceptance.
Inflation/Delflation is something that I would consider but its only one piece of choosing the college you want to attend. Also, thank you!!
What were your stats? GPA? Extracurricular? Also what programs did you apply for?
I ask because some of my friends with 1540+ SATs, top 15%, national merit, and eagle scouts got rejected from Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt.
what was your gpa when you graduated high school? I am in a similar situation as yours where i got a not so high test score (1390 New SAT) and you got accepted into some pretty great schools--including some i really want to get in to-- and im just interested in what your gpa was when you graduated so i could compare.
I applied to like 22 colleges and when i told someone how many I applied to, I was like omgđ€Šđ»ââïž but I donât regret!!
Hey I'm wondering, what are some extracurriculars to do for a college application, thanksđbtw you are so pretty.
Thank you!! đFor my college application, I really emphasized my service learning experiences. I listed all of my leadership roles in various organizations spanning from youth council, student government, drama club, and etc. as extracurricular activities. I couldn't fit everything on my college app but I tried to list the ones that complemented each other to show a defined passion.
DymondStar ~ Thank you so much! đđ
Wow that's a lot of schools. Do you think you could have narrowed it down anymore before applying? You can find a lot of information online to find out if you're a good fit for a school. I've always though 3-10 is the most reasonable window.
I did a lot of research on the schools I wanted to apply to. I felt all of these schools were a good fit for me. This list is the narrowed down version. đ
yea I applied to 10 and I thought that I could've even narrowed down
What was your high school transcript? Ap, honors, or regular courses
All of my high school classes were honors. Also, I took actual college classes, not AP, to earn my college credit.
In the end, no matter how many schools you apply to, you won't succeed just from school alone. Life is about persistence. School is a business and it teaches people to be dependent on that and working for others. Some of the most successful people didn't need college. Life is about drive! That's how you succeed!
Do you think someone with a 3.7 gpa unweighted and a 26 act can get into Unc Chapel Hill
Im planning on applying to the QuestBridge College Prep Scholar Program as well! And did you have to pay to go to the national admissions conference at Yale or do they pay for it?
The conference is free but I had to find funding for transportation and lodging.
my dad went to UNC and we went to tour the campus. So happy for you. It's really cool there.
I love the chapel hill area too! And thank you!
Good for you. Unc chapel hill is my all time favorite school.Hopefully I will get accepted into UNC.Does anyone have pointers on how to get in UNC chapel hill?
Thank you!! I hope you get in too. Also, I have a video all about what I did to get into UNC if you want to check it out!
Any recommendation for scholarship sites especially for international students that have plans on attending college in USA, AUS or Europe? đđ
i applied to the one school i wanted to go to, asu (bc it is so close to home and i love the atmosphere), and got in a week later lol i didnât want to stress over deadlines and applying to so many different schools when i knew i was 100% getting into asu... instead i saved time and was able to apply for more scholarships instead
Mya Mya I agree the stress of applying to school is overrated. Getting a good education with little to no debt is most important.
My top school is Cornell and has been for 3 years now. Still a junior but I'm planning on applying ED when it's time. So freaking scared I won't get into it!!
Don't be scared! You have think positively. I promise you will end up where you are supposed to be! I have a video about GPA going live soon. I think it could be helpful when you are applying to Cornell and other universities. Subscribe so you don't miss it.
do you mind telling the program you did at duke over the summer:)
I did Duke Summer Science Sleuths! The program was amazing and I fell in love with Duke and the campus. Unfortunately, they discontinued the summer program, but I would definitely look into the programs offered through DukeTips if you or someone you know are interested in summer program at Duke.
I am also an Early College High School Student! Finally, someone with the same program as me. I will get my Associates Degree too and I really need your email to give me advice on college. I am also a Questbridge College Scholar and I will apply through Questbridge!!!
DymondStar Also, thank you! Did you get a Full Ride to UNC Chapel Hill with QuestBridge? Can you please do a video on the scholarships you got?
I did get a full ride to UNC, but it was not through they QuestBridge. Also, I will do a video talking about the scholarships I applied for.
I am also an early college student..... but my schools doesnât believe in early graduation
the only thing I can tell anyone who wants to go college go to the campus feel of it and I didn't want to stay in my home state so I chose to look at college's out state , at the time I was with my family and we was in Virginia Beach I like being up their and why we was in Virginia I look at a some of the college's and the people at Virginia State University made me feel like I was at home.
I completely understand! I had an similar idea that instead of staying in my home state for school I wanted to explore other options.
I live in Virginia and I love it! I plan on Virginia Tech
This is so inspiring to me and now I want to work hard and Iâm only 12
My dream school is Wesleyan of middle Georgia. I intend to apply once I graduate high school!
I should be dancing in the rain that u even got in Vanderbilt and Georgia tech with that ACT
Idk how she got accepted to Vanderbilt I live in Tennessee and I know a girl who was pretty smart, she got a 29 on her ACT and she had a 4.0 she applied to Vanderbilt not expecting to get in because usually the lowest ACT score accepted is 30, she ended up getting accepted and she said she thinks it's only because she went to a small town school ( it was a small town school) so I'm very surprised that Vanderbilt accepted her with a 26, Vanderbilt was my dream school but I never even thought about the idea of actually going because I knew I couldn't make that high of an act score plus Vanderbilt doesn't take Tennessee promise it's far too expensive lol and when I got my act score back it was a 23 and I 100% already knew I was gonna laugh and say " there goes vanderbilt" to all my friends it's almost like a joke about getting accepted there to me but yea I'm not even going to try there it'd be a waste of my time and money since they have an application fee
Hi dymond my name is Iyanna Iâm 17 years old and I live in the UK Iâve been signing up to a couple of colleges but I havenât start studying for the ACT yet I donât have classes and online classes that I can go to so are your independent study tips
I found the most helpful thing for me was to take online practice tests and time myself while do so. I searched key concepts tested on ACT and, after reviewing them, I kept track of how long I it took me to complete the online test with good accuracy. New video coming soon so please subscribe!
DymondStar would you also recommend me using the ACT study guide to prepare for the ACT test
Yes I would definitely suggest for you to use the study guide.
Hey! The closed captions for this video are not all correct, it would be great if you could take the time to change them for those with hearing problems! :)
I would rather not apply to 1 than apply to 30. I'm impressed!
Iâm just curious but why does she only have one band in her braces? Is it b/c her teeth need to be pulled down or what.. if this sounds insensitive Iâm sorry Iâm just curious.
WOOOOOW PRINCETON
Yes, Questie fam! Iâm a prep scholar 2019 and national match 2020
Madeline Kroner Congratulations đđŸđđŸ
i from Philippines so I had no idea about college app in the US. Were you interviewed by each of those 30 colleges?
I did not have to interview with every college but I had to interview for most of the universities I applied to for college. The majority of the private schools either required or offered interviews. The the public schools I applied to did not require interviews unless I applied to a scholarship or program through the school.
I'm afraid it was the ACT score. My daughter has a 31 and I know she doesn't stand a chance at the schools that rejected you. Yale etc are happy to give financial aid. However, i'm sure you're going to do extremely well at college.
A 31 can get you into an Ivy League though...you sleeping on your daughterâs score.
She can get into brown
UNC - full ride. Bravo!!!!
Thank you!!
How much is it for applications usually?
i would have gone to vanderbilt! that is one of my top schools i am going to apply to
You must be from NC if you know about Fayetteville state
Tabsy yess! NC born and raised!
DymondStar Ahahaha called it!! Iâm 20 minutes from FSU
Tabsy Wow going through these college videos I'm surprised how many people from NC I'm seeing. I waas born in Cali but moved to NC when I was 1. Soooo... ALMOST born and raised.
I was thinking that too lol....Iâm from Fayetteville!
DymondStar same
When should I start applying to college?? Iâm a junior in high school
The best time to apply for college is over the summer before your senior year. You will have time to focus on your personal statement and prepare to meet early admission deadlines which offers the highest acceptance rates. Also, it takes aways stress that some students experience during their senior year because they are trying to scramble to get the materials they need together to apply for college.
I'm a freshman and UNC is my dream school but in my school you aren't allowed to take AP's in freshmen year and I don't know how I'll get my gpa from 4.3 to 4.6
Its okay that you can't take AP during your freshman year. I would just take the time to focus on my regular high school classes to make sure I do really well. I don't want to say GPA doesn't matter, but I would get it as high as possible and just become involved in my school and community organizations.
DymondStar Why didnât you go to Spelman College?
I am in love w ur accent
Why didn't you go to Vanderbilt
It was the best one
I chose Chapel Hill over Vanderbilt because I was accepted Honors Carolina which offered more benefits to their students. Also I was able to travel abroad with them before coming to campus and that is something I've always wanted to do.
Vanderbilt is in the top 20 for hardest schools to get in.
UNC Chapel Hill is one of the BEST public universities in the entire country. And at a 26% acceptance rate, CERTAINLY in pretty much the same league as Vanderbilt at 10.7%.. I think Vanderbilt is ONLY harder to get into because it's private. And since they didn't give her the same benefits as UNC, it makes COMPLETE sense why she didn't go to Vanderbilt.
Would I be wrong to say that you live somewhere in the south? Alabama maybe? Just wondering
North Carolina born and raised
Amen you definitely have the blessings of God and so do I.
Amen!
Not a single school in South Carolina. Wow. A neighbor state too. Coldddddddd
Awww I love your accent!! Where is it from
Thank you!! I'm for NC.
Did you visit every college you applied too? How did you er there? How do you know when you have to visit the colleges? You are amazing and so beautiful.
I did not get the chance to visit all of the schools that I applied to, but I did speak to representatives from most of them. The colleges I did get to tour, I toured them the end of my junior year, over the summer, and the beginning of my senior year. Also, thank you for you complement!!
OMG I wanted to go to UCLA freshman year too
When is the best time to start applying ?
Its best to apply early but be sure to know if you are applying to schools with early action, early decision, or rolling admissions. Now is a great time to start to be on top of the game and to be eligible for more scholarships.
