Metal is the best thing that exists. The worst is people talking about it.

These early Greek bands (on the whole) had a quite different feel from the second-wave Norwegian bands who were their contemporaries. Slower tempos, vocals lower down in the mix, a more "occult" feel you might say.

I would say simply, they kept more the Bathory/Celtic influence present. And the riffs they could come up with were the distinctive touch. That's how I see it.

Are you familiar with the Italian band Mortuary Drape? They remind me a lot of the old-school Greek scene, but with the atmosphere of a classic Italian horror film like "Suspiria."

Simply our Hellenic Black metal scene.. is more true.. more occult..powerful..mystical..and with that glorious..ritual..pagan feeling over it, that was born here thousands of years ago! and yes also kept the roots of those first early Heavy , black , thrash call it as you want bands, like Venom, Bathory, Hellhammer, e.t.c

Both (norwegian and greek) are different interpretations of the first wave. I personally don’t consider one to be better than the other but imo the greek scene is the only true “third wave” and accurate evolution to the genre (considering the influence it had all over the world).

Hellenic black is also more melodic and original than Scandinavian scene (except finland) and Greek black metal melodies is very different compared to famous Sweden melodic black or melodic black/death metal scene.
