I am very caught up on what I do/do not have. I just have a keyboard, guitars & mostly fuzz pedals, and an octave pedal. It would be a dream to make this kind of music, but creatively & organically, it just doesn't sprout. I don't even know where to begin. I'm just tired of having musical envy over the genre I wish I could create myself😭. I personally think it's a skill to sound stylised & to figure out a vibe one wants to achieve.

Honestly if I were you, I would; a) listen to and study the bands and music that interest you in the genre… then b) emulate those bands and music, but in your style. I would also start out just experimenting too with different things and sounds… just play… no commitments or anything… there are a lot of tutorials for music production online in whatever Digital Audio Workstation you choose to use to create the music, they may not be industrial music tutorials… but they are a great starting place! If you’re really just beginning… and are not familiar with Digital Audio Workstations… I would suggest looking up that on the internet… and then watching CZcams videos about them and their features… and to kind of get the idea of what their workflow is like… and then finding demo versions and trying them out… I would say all of the above is a starting place.

I'm curious about that contest, were you supposed to make some purely atonal track with that white noise sample?

The contest was to actually take the white noise sample create all your instruments out of it (bass, synth lines, bassdrum, hihats, snares, etc), using high pass/low pass/etc filters (although there was a limit to how much you could actually filter it), You could map those pieces into different keys and such, so you could get the different notes and such... and kind of create a song out of it, but if I'm not mistaken... one of the rules was that you couldn't truncate the white noise sample, you actually had to keep it intact in it's full form... so you had to figure out very creative ways of manipulating it, and using it.
When I had done the contest, it was well past the time that it actually ran... like many years later... but I wanted to do it, cause I wanted the challenge to see what I could do! Was still fun, and a great learning experience!!

@@kittavares4334 Yeah, you had to use a specific white noise sample that they provided, but I mean... you can literally use any white noise sample and do it that way, if you are interested in the process!
