Beautiful small copper butterfly - I've only seen one this year! And yes, you're right on the cats, they're small torts. :)
Aha! I didn't know what it was - you saved me the job of looking it up!
@@BrimwoodFarm I'm a butterfly nerd. 😆 You seem to be pretty good on your species so I wasn't sure if you knew or not.
@@emmer82 I'm pretty good with the common ones, but the meadow brown like species I still get confused with. Just had a hummingbird moth in the poly; wonderful things!
@@BrimwoodFarm Ah lovely! My favourite moth. I had a clearwing moth in my greenhouse and I'd never seen one of those before so that was exciting.
I saw some hummingbird moths last year for the first time and I was so excited! It was like I’d seen a dragon or something 😂. Haven’t seen one this year, sadly. But we do get absolutely loads of Scarlet Tiger Moths thanks to all the comfrey.
Absolutely beautiful! It is a credit to you Geoff and your vision for a rewilding of the land...
Thank you!
many beautiful butterflies = successful rewilding....congratulations
Thanks!
It's all looking lovely - the pond and land and animals. Agree that small rewilding projects dotted across the UK would be a great thing to do.
It's all so lush! :D
Joyful video. Thank you for sharing your lovely dream with us.
Thank you for watching!
Hey Geoff. Thank you for this vid, reminding us of your rewinding endeavour. It was good to see the new turkey hens and go bug spotting with you. We loved it. 🤓 🐶 🧔
Thanks Johnny!

What a lovely video that was, living in the centre of town we don't see much in the way of wildlife, but the bugs are going for it this year!
Bugs everywhere!!
Love seeing the nature that all around. I’m the same in my garden always getting distracted by insects and movement. I’ve left a lot more wild patches this year and I’ve noticed more bugs and butterflies. Thistles are great.
They really are. Glad I'm not the only one getting distracted. lol
I love nature too, with a couple of exceptions. I don't do snakes or rats! They creep me out!
Those hedges, larger trees might be your answer to improving the fields with cuttings. Just go around cut green branches and just stick them in the ground. The ashes could be spread out further.
Are weeping willow trees native to your area? They're great to keep the deer fed and grow so quickly they'll shade out some of the land for shrubs, bushes to take hold.
Willows are native and I planted quite a few but our region is just too dry (certainly for the past couple of years) for them to survive. I've got some near the barn that I wanted to grow on for tree hay but I have to water them everyday just to keep them alive!
Love your farm and your ideals! I am doing something similar letting my back pasture turn wild while keeping chickens and a garden
Sounds fantastic!
Keeping with your theme of rewilding and natural species, have you thought about farming fallow deer for venison when you get your perimeter fence in place? Very niche could be a good income for the farm.
I have considered it but need to look in more detail. Deer can be so destructive it might be that the stocking density I'd have to have would be so low it wouldn't make it worthwhile
Are stag turkeys noisy?
Not at all. Much quieter than chickens etc
I don't like sheep they ruin the land.
