    Charlie Engle, I have to say that I completely echo the sentiments of Dominic Brown! Of your two running mates, he wrote: “One of their main attributes seemed to be their ability, despite huge physical and mental exhaustion everyday, to put up with your company and not quit just so they didn’t have to be near you.” Wow - perfect words. Your selfishness was unbelievable. I can’t imagine ANYONE from that production spending another minute with you after it was over.

    @Videogamefangirl The point of the film was to show three guys run across the entire Sahara. That didn't happen so I was disappointed. You seem like you're making excuses for them. Of course they were tired and in pain. I was hoping they would overcome this and reach their original goal. But they didnt.
    Dont get me wrong I'm thoroughly impressed and amazed by what they did, but the truth is they did not run across the entire Sahara.

    @ummmmmmmidontknow I think you're missing the point. Charlie was hurt and limping. Ray got this injury that they said if he kept running, it would worsen. Kevin was damn exhausted. They were running for 111 days, 70 KM a day. Unless you've run that distance yourself, you wouldn't know just how long of a distance that actually is. Keep in mind that this is a documentary, not a movie. If this was a movie and WANTED to make it dramatic, they would have ran.

    @Videogamefangirl Cairo is in the Sahara. The desert stretches all the way to the Red Sea. They did not run to the red sea. Hence my disappointment. I'm not sure how many ways i can say this.

    @Videogamefangirl Před 13 lety

    @ummmmmmmidontknow They did cross the entire damn Sahara. By the time they were walking they were in the city of Cairo. The point is, they overcame much more than expected. They were plagued by sickness and fatigue that could easily kill them of dehydration. I'm trying to sympathize and be realistic. If you didn't listen to the movie at all, rehear again their personal experiences and opinions throughout the movie. You could see it coming a mile away that they were going to stop at some point.

    Had Ray and Kevin caught up with Engle in the end and just kept right on running…. This film would’ve been Oscar worthy.
    Engle is a selfish piece of trash, he was definitely trying to finish by himself. Unbelievable

      @davidmoomoo Před rokem +1

      It's sad to say, but your right, it kind of sours the epic accomplishments of three great runner's, but Engle is a douchebag.

  • @Videogamefangirl
    @Videogamefangirl Před 13 lety

    @ummmmmmmidontknow But at that point you have to think of what they were thinking. They were tired and in pain. And who knows? They may have walked at some points too and we never noticed because the film didn't show us.
    Either way, this isn't Hollywood. The point of the film was to show what REALLY happened. Not to entertain people. I repeat, documentary. What's done is done, they still ran across the ENTIRE Sahara. Try to have the physical and mental capacity to do that...

    @Videogamefangirl Obviously it was a great feat that not many people could do. I'm just saying, in the beginning they made it very clear that the ultimate goal was to run the length of the sahara. If their original goal was to walk/run the sahara it wouldnt have been quite as intriguing an ambition. And from a cinematic perspective, the fact that they walked the very end made it seem anticlimactic to me.

  • @Videogamefangirl
    @Videogamefangirl Před 13 lety

    @ummmmmmmidontknow Who the hell cares if they walked to the finish? They MADE IT. They did the whole trajectory and LIVED. Instead of being critical about the fact that they were in pain near the finish, see that they did what nobody else did, one way or another. You try to run the Sahara without walking once. I'm amazed they ran the whole way except for the end to begin with. When you're in pain and have been running for 111 days, doing 70 KM A DAY, you'd want to walk too. Don't be so critical

    did anyone but me notice.....THEY DIDN'T DO IT!! they didn't make it across the whole sahara!
    somewhere in Egypt they started walking bc of charlies foot. he went on ahead, the other two caught up, and then they walked the rest of the way! the mission was to RUN across the sahara. not run MOST of the sahara and then walk the finish.
    totally disappointing.

    chris engle at the end is nothing but a disgrace... tells the other two to rest while he walks and then starts running to try claim the glory of first one there... the other two shud have ran on ahead of him when they caught him and let him finish a day later!!! that would have been the most satisfying end!!! i hear he is now in jail... oh well...

    • @zohanrock
      @zohanrock Před 6 lety +3

      I would say read his book as well. the last part was movie making to create drama and not the full story. Engle didn't mind as much because it did make it more compelling to watch and helped him to raise $6million dollars for the charity foundation he founded. So he didn't care if ppl thought he was as asshole as long as they were moved to help or donate.
