    I’m glad that picture books are optional and not required!!! This looks like fun!!! I chose TGTB as it’s fun but we still have gaps!!! The workbook looks awesome!!! I love it when the year is less as we can take our time or finish earlier!!!

      Yes, the picture books are a great addition, but thankful they're not required.

    We love MWC! I have a second grader that just finished the grade 1 book and started the 2nd grade book. And a kinder who is in the K level. We *love* it! We occasionally do the .5 lessons but mostly not. But some people have made CZcams playlists of people reading the enrichment books and sometimes we watch those. I hope you love it, we do!

    We just started on first grade MWC. My little girl is 6 and will be starting first grade CLE this fall. She’s a strong reader so I wanted to make sure she’ll enjoy learning math too. I don’t want her to hate it like I did. So far she’s loving MWC.

    Thank you so much! Really helpful. I love TG&TB math, but this might be a better fit for one of my boys.

    We switched from TGTB to MWC, and I’m so happy with the change! My oldest (emerging 5th grader) has always done Singapore math, and his number sense is amazing, but I didn’t want to use it with my younger boys because it’s so teacher intensive. We tried TGTB, and while it was lovely and engaging, the number sense just wasn’t happening.
    We are so happy with the switch! The games, the deep understanding of manipulating numbers mentally without the intensity of Singapore. This is our Goldilocks math curriculum.
    Thanks for the video!

    Hello ❤ I’m Michelle. So happy to have found your CZcams. I will be taking my 6 year old son out of public school here in the US, specifically the state of New Mexico. Your videos have been so helpful now that I will be going on this journey. He will be starting 1st grade and I am thinking of using All About Reading and Math With Confidence. Thank You again for the great videos ❤️

    I'm actually in the process of switching away from math with confidence for next year. I used levels k & 1 this year with my 2 sons . It's a great program but it did not work for my oldest. It's very big on visualizing numbers and strategies for mental math and none of it was clicking for son and it was so incredibly frustrating for him and me. It is a fantastic and solid program and my second son would probably have been fine sticking with it but I had to change for the sake of my oldest. I hope it's a great fit for you because it really is so well done! -Sarah

      Oh, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you guys! I totally understand needing to find something that does fit well for your kiddos, though.

    Hello, thank you for the video! So helpful! We are wanting to switch from Saxon math to MWC. Do you know where to purchase the printable version?

    Coming from TGTB, do you feel like this was too slow moving? My daughter just finished TGTB math kinder and I already felt that the addition and subtraction were moving slow for her and she was ready to handle bigger numbers ..but they do seem all over the place and she loves games so I thought MWC may work… it’s just that I wish they did half books like some other curriculums so I can skip to where she is, so I wouldn’t have to but the whole thing that she already knows half of…do you think in the 2nd grade book there is enough review to skip the grade 1 if my daughter knows the 1st half of the book already? At the same time I don’t want to skip to high and mess her up lol

      Not for us, but I'm also not afraid to move past lessons if I feel we've covered them enough. :)

    We just started MWC after almost completing k and 1st TGTB and I've been anxious about whether I made the right decision or not. Your series has been super helpful in reassuring me that we made the right switch. (I agree with your observations regarding the two math programs!) So now here's a weird question.... I bought the physical workbooks because it looked like the pdf would be an ink guzzler when printing.... but after watching your flip-through it looks like the pages are white and not the tan colour on the preview pages via the Well Trained Mind site. Is that the case?

    Doesn't look good to me after doing TGTB every other curriculum look plain and boring.

    • @ThisHomeschoolHouse
      @ThisHomeschoolHouse  Před rokem +3

      It's actually super fun. Perhaps a good option for kiddos who don't care for all the storytelling and visuals in TGTB. :)

      TGATB was so exciting to my youngest child at first but it quickly became repetitive and boring to her. Even parts she just loved it was so long and the same thing she just didn't enjoy it any longer. I don't necessarily think you should change a curriculum just because your child doesn't like it but once it gets to a point where they are not engaged and learning is no longer happening then it may be time to supplement or even change up the curriculum you already own. Learning is the goal. I could definitely see TGATB working for many kids. I have kids ranging from 6 to 18 and only some of our maths have worked for multiple kids. Each seemed to have their own math path at some point at least. My 2 oldest did Saxon and Abeka math and then Life of Fred. One of the oldest also used Beast Academy as a supplement. When he was in elementary he tried Right Start but it was long and tedious. However he did very well with the 2 geometry levels that are not parent intensive courses. Then both went to different maths at the higher middle school and high school levels. My youngest also did very well with CLE and Mathematical Reasoning as her fun math. If emergencies and things have happened to stop your regular math this math does seem to bring back their confidence. Aptly titled.
