- In 2 years LEGO has released their best LEGO Star Wars AT-AT sets ever! The 75288 AT-AT Playset & 75313 UCS AT-AT! While the Minifigures for each set are strikingly similar given the price difference, the MASSIVE build of the nearly $1000 UCS AT-AT cannot be questioned. While the $160 playset AT-AT is nice, if you have the money for the $1000 set... why not?

Conclusion: I can definitely afford the third best AT-AT in this video.
Dang, I can't shell out $800 on a lego set.
It’s so painful watching these videos as a broke college student…still keep watching tho lol
Same dude
Right i was thinking of getting this last month. Since i already have the 3 collector Batman sets but wanted to see someone review this 1st before i got it.
😂
I still think the UCS atat is a perfect example of what Lego is capable of when they put their mind to doing something right. Amazing display ability and accuracy
its much much better than the UCS star destroyer thats for sure. There is so much less detail that it should have for a set that is 700$
Ehm ehm.....Republic Gunship........mmhm mmmh......mhmm ehm.....
It has such a strong mass, especially on the main body, whoever designed the structure for the whole set truly is a genius
@@fenyx044 is that comment good or bad
@@callummcneill6266 that is comment to say that yes, when Lego fully put it mind into something, they can do really good things. When fans tell them they can do really good things.
This just if it’s original trilogy.
If it’s prequel trilogy......
Lego then messes up everything thy could mess up.
I love how all of a sudden the $800 AT-AT is now $1000 because of battle packs
It's $1000 itself for some people
Tax alone makes it almost $900
@@DarthRakdos0805 true ,it's only $3-$4 away from being $1K
In my country because of rising cost + GST its worth 1.3 to 1.5 k depending if theres discounts
950 dollars in Canada. Plus taxes that's gonna be 10 grand
I've got all three. I displayed them the following way: the small one stands between the legs of the middle one, who stands behind the legs of the big one. It's like russian dolls, and creates a little bit of fake depth.
And I don't remember how long it took me to build the middle and small ones, but the UCS took me a little over 21 hours to build. It did have the best building experience of the three.
кто-то что-то сказал про матрешки????
Nice
i don't like you
Flexing much?
stop!
I have the $160 one, and I'm very happy with it. I have made some of my own improvements - adding two clear red 1x2's to create a more accurate front viewport. Also, I replaced the horrible (to me) orange slope pieces in the cockpit with black ones, which I think, also make it look not quite as small inside. I added a couple of gray plates inside the side doors, to make them more sturdy. Lastly, it looks possible to maybe squeeze in a couple more of the blue trooper seats, so I'm going to try this too.
Thanks, Ryan! Love the channel!
Does the red line in the cockpit look alot better? because I have one that i managed to order for £90 (that hasn't arrived yet) and if it looks ALOT better i could do that too.
I also have the 160 one and I love it! Definitely worth the money.
@@bitbybrick4993 same definitely worth it
Its not fantastic i build this and ... IT is so...
@@Marvel_pleb22 It does. I added 2 rows of red clear stud pieces from the stud shooters and it looks so good.
I think the 160 dollar one is the best cause it's really good looking and accurate while still being reasonably affordable
But my lord the empire must give enough to taxes to buy it
You could also buy 5 of them for the price of the collectors edition
@@torinjones3221 Or you could buy 50 of the smallest one
Agreed
Fr to i get it today but I will definitely do some improvements on the legs and head
To be honest, the 1000 dollar one is really cool but quite hefty, and as it's name suggests it's more like a collectible, and it's cool to keep for display while the $160 one is better for play and battling and just imaginative play in general.
The UCS is definitely much too unwieldy to play with. It's very much a display piece that you can adjust.
Ummmmm…
Obviously
Man just wrote the textbook explanations of play set amd UCS 😂
I mean you could play with the ucs atat but to move it for 6 year olds it’s gonna be heavy it’s head it’s butt it’s body is way to heavy for little kids but I guess kids could do imaginary play but it’s actually made for display though
The 160 one is it for me. It looks really good (apart from some ugly coloured technic pins), the figures are great and actually use the right faces, you can put everything it comes with in it and its easy to display in different poses. You can already get it for a lot cheaper so its definetly a great set.
UCS AT-AT is just the peak of LSW, we've peaked, this is the perfect one, this is the definitive article, we won't ever need a UCS AT-AT 2.0 again
I disagree, the hinges that connect the side walls to the main wall are sometimes weak and can break off when you take off the middle to reveal the interior.
As a Gen Xer, I feel privileged that Lego took the time to make the best, most accurate UCS model based on an OT vehicle like the AT-AT. ESB is my favorite movie of all time, and the selection of Lego sets based on it are immense.
That said, I truly feel sorry for the younger generation that grew up with the prequels and don't have near the same opportunity to enjoy sets from that era. I feel the AT-AT is the new undisputed king of SW sets, but I'd welcome a quality challenger from the prequels so that the next gen can feel as lucky.
I think a UCS Sebulba’s Podracer could be a crazy addition
As a late millennial, who prefers the OT. I 100% agree.
The movie itself is just awful, which is probably why it won't be done, but I would love a UCS Anakin Pod Racer.
We did get the Gunship. But yeah, Prequels dont get nearly as much as the OT. Would love a Venator or more Separarist ships.
I grew up around the prequels, but have an old Dad who luckily made me love the original trilogy the most
14:42 My only issue I've had with the UCS AT-AT is the legs leaning forward like there.... I still love it though.
The only issue I have is the price
@@user-dx5fw7qn4r lol same
I'm also a proud owner of all 3 of them and I'd say that the buildtimes mentioned are probably shorter than they are for most people. Love your channel though. Keep it up!
who...
I built the gunship (UCS) in 3 hours, so if someone really sat down and tanked this out they could be done in a good 5 hours
It honestly took me like 6 to 8 hours to build the $160 AT AT. Though, I did spent a whole hour on that damn knot. I guess I do work slow.
@@dr.boring7022 It took me days with my ADHD
@@Glurbschnurb I feel you. I haven't done these sets, but I take almost double the time others seem to for any given set. I just like to enjoy the process, and I'm usually watching a movie or show at the same time.
I'm tempted to get the 10$ version just to stack it on top of the 800$ one just because it would be cute.
The 100 dollar is the best if you intend on playing with minifigures. The ucs stuff is basically a standalone thing, they are meant to be set pieces, they are priced as such.
I am also an owner of 130$ AT-AT and what I wanna say is that the build time feels instant and quickly. Building this set was the best 5 hours of my Xmas holidays 😁
The best AT AT : 100$
@@Aresgaming000 wish you could get two of the battle pack speeders in it though ahaha
I had the motorized one as a kid (which is slightly shorter and wider than the modern play scale one) so I can compare the modern play scale one pretty closely to my childhood experience with the Lego AT AT. It was a big set for me back then.
Just seeing the UCS towering over the play scale like that, something as a kid I would have seen as a big set, is awe-inspiring. It’s so huge. Like I can’t imagine having that thing in person, I’ve never seen anything Lego that big with my own eyes.
The $160 version does have a crank inside the upper-front hatch of the body to raise and lower Luke too. It's a great set at the right size and price for most people. Def recommend.
IMO the UCS is perfect for a Hoth display MOCs due to its massive scale to everything else, it'll round the entire thing up perfectly. It's much closer to the movies with its vehicle-to-minifig scale, and since it was made to pose but not to play, its drawbacks don't come out as much.
Meanwhile, the play scale is, as the name implies, much better for casual play. Especially as a gift for your own kids or relatives, where dropping a bit more money doesn't come off as weird.
I love how when he’s comparing them the at-ats look like a mother and they’re child
On one level I’m envious of the sheer amount of Lego in your collection but on another level I
think do I want to live like a hoarder where I have rooms or storage units just filled with Lego. It’s the great conundrum of being a collector. I hate clutter but I love Lego…
Yeah it's an eternal struggle. On one hand you don't want to deal with the sheer volume of plastic, but there are so many cool sets out there every year...
Fun fact: In Russia we didn’t get ANY of the 2022 Lego Star Wars sets, thought 14 days passed since they supposed to be released.
first time? (turkey)
In Russia, AT-AT gets you.
The Snowtrooper battle packs are like the DLC for video games…
I have the UCS AT-AT that I haven't built yet because I'm saving it for a family trip around Christmas where we all get together and build a Lego set. The setup for this one is perfect. We could have 4 separate people build their parts and then combine them at the end. It's like Lego figured out how to make team building a thing.
I like that both the playset and ucs were available at the same time so it doesn't matter if you have a lot of money or just some you can get your at-at fix. And I only have the player version but I still love it.
The coolest part about the $800 star destroyer is that it had a metal bound spiral direction book, that thing was hefty and very cool
The UCS AT-AT is just over the top amazing. If only they had put a fraction of that effort into the Republic Gunship UCS.
The gunship isn’t a bad set, In fact it’s a great set. It’s just the way lego presented it to us that sucked
They did. You're comparing a $350 set to $800 set, but keep bringing up the gunship just to shit on it for more internet points.
Awesome! I’ve always loved these comparison videos!
I remember getting my first lego at at when i was 7 or 8 and building it with my dad it makes me so happy
It’s oddly satisfying to watch him open the boxes
I think the stud shooters on the microfighter make so much sense, since microfighters are more oriented to kids and are obviously not acurate, just a funny gimmick.
It's like those old Napoleonic cavalry, I love the idea of that
To be honest, I love microfighters. I think that if you modify them just a bit to fill in the character slot, they tend to all be really great models.
great models to put on table at work to remind u giant 1k bux piece of plastic at home
When you realize the micro fighter has the red window thing at the front of the atat and e play scale doesn’t 😟
I think that's a sticker though, but not sure. Honestly, I love building sets that don't have stickers. They're a pain to apply and the play scale one has exactly zero.
@@dr.boring7022 ya I’m not sure either. I’m just glad they have that detail. I’m with you. I hateee stickers. They kinda ruin the experience with lego building at times
@@ethan.H2007 Good new for you mate, my brother has it and guess what, it's not a sticker.
The speeder bikes are different because the megaphone positioned in the middle fits into the slot in the "speeder bike bay" but the new one is just more accurate
Best lego set ever. I had to buy this, the AT-AT and the Battle of Hoth is what got me into Star Wars. It's a shame you had some issues with yours, like to side door not staying open and the panels falling apart when removing, mine seems to not do that.
Mine stays open, as well.
Got the 160 version as a gift at Christmas and I couldn’t be happier with it…but good lord does that behemoth put it to shame.
Loved the video, first time actually seeing a walk through of the completed set…whata beauty, easily my second favorite set behind the Falcon… maybe one day lol
I like how the way you have to adjust the UCS AT-AT’s legs makes it walk the same speed as a real AT-AT
Im very happy with the 2020 playscale at-at, i bought it with my little brother and he loves to play with it. It just fits with the more downsized ships from 2021.
I can’t imagine what it would be like making a stop motion with the biggest one… that would be an interesting process!
Something tells me it would be much like how it was actually doen for the film but a bit more finnicky given the nature of LEGO.
Though trying to recreate the scene of the walker going down from a towcable then being blown up would be amazing.
That’s why inn thinking of buying the medium one
This is giving me nostalgia. I remember I had built the I believe 2014 model on my birthday the year it came out. I still remember the trapdoor that took an hour to put in, you could pull a piece on a back to drop the trapdoor. Just good memories, few years later I replaced all the grey plates with black plates so I still have it it’s not the same as it should be though.
I feel like I'd be more inclined to collect the UCS sets instead of the playsets if they were always available to buy. I know the new lego sub etc. but I feel like you're most likely correct about what the buying old sets will actually be. But ya there's a much higher chance of a medium scale playset coming out again (if I miss one) than a UCS set and they're all pretty expensive at MSRP. So can't really get myself to drop a bunch of money on the AT-AT + MF when getting all of the rest of the sets to go with them will cost me a ridiculous amount per piece second hand. Not to mention the risk that comes with buying second hand. Imagine dropping close to 1k on the shuttle and they make a new one thats better? ouch.
You should have compared how the new Hoth AT-ST looks next to each of them ;-) Great video!
Ahhhh I’ll have to do something in February then
I'd be interested in seeing a comparison between the various AT-STs released over the years.
I recently bought the current Hoth AT-ST to go with my play scale AT-AT: Along with the 20th anniversary Snow Speeder it makes a great display... but I can't wait to get my hands on that UCS walker.
I would love to see every single Lego at-at next to eachother
He’s already done that
I turned my microfighter At-At and tauntaun into a really cool microfighter AT-ST
I modified my 2020 AT AT. I made the main battery cannons longer which is accurate. I added a secondary blaster on the side cannons. I made a more accurate canopy and added a top and back panel for the head.
I just realized the microfighter was the first at -at to have the red visor.
Nice video Ryan! I have the 160 dollar one, have not built yet. Haven't built my falcon either 😂 I'm hesitant to open the 1000+ piece sets because I don't have a whole free day ever.
Such a helpful video! Thank you!
Awesome comparison video MandR Productions.
100$ is my favourite. It’s affordable for most people and it fulfils its purpose
I bought mine for some 120 Euros. If i had to choose 7 or 1 big one, i'd almost always would take the 7 AT-AT's
I miss the old legos
Would love to see this but the UCS Falcon and the 2019 one
As much as I genuinely love the UCS AT-AT, I ended up getting the $160 set. It just doesn't feel right to throw 800 dollars on a Lego set right now. I will definitely buy it in the future, I just hope the market doesn't skyrocket too much after it's discontinued, given how many people are buying this thing. I also found a use for the small snow speeder they released a couple of years ago. Since it fits the scale of the AT-AT playset very well, I think it would look perfect in a moderately sized Hoth battle diorama. I'm a few months late, but this review was very helpful to me, thank you!
That collector edition AT AT is absolutely nuts. Ill take the $10 one though haha.
Your previous video helped me decide to buy the 160$ version and it was one of my best decisions. The set is amazing, the build was very enjoyable and it looks great in my display.
Unfortunately UCS sets are out of ny price range and I can probably only ever buy one of those, so it's gonna have to be the Millennium Falcon, because the AT-AT is not my favorite vehicle, so I'd rather try and get what I love.
Either way - great vid and thanks!
UCS Millennium Falcon...great choice! I have it, it's fragile but amazing, probably the greatest Lego Star Wars set ever. I am planning to get the UCS AT-AT eventually.
I think this is the way to go. One UCS set as a centrepiece, whichever is your favourite. For me it might be a star destroyer. Everything else get the mid range.
Ayy congratulations bro your almost at 500k subs, love seeing well deserved channels grow
Ucs at at is definitely my favorite not just because of the price and amazing detail but that I got it as a gift from my older brother for me and him to build together best Lego building experience I've ever had hands down
Playability: 2020
Design: UCS
The micro fighter doesn’t really have anything special. I would know, I have 2
That 160 dollar at at may not have the detail of the 800 dollar one, but it still looks great on my shelf.
1 160 dollar might not look as good, but I guarantee you 4 of them in formation looks better then 1 800 dollar
@@calebbarnhouse496 Good idea.
I have the middle one and enjoy looking at it all the time. It’s a wonderful set.
I made a steam punk mod on the little, as you called it, desk piece at at and it came out really well. I replaced the gray with rust red and tan and put a ship crows nest and mast on it with fitting steam punk decor. My wife liked it so I gave it to her for her work desk.
AskMandR: Do you see Lego ever re-releasing or redoing the UCS Super Star Destroyer? I am considering buying one but its currently 3x the cost of the original mrsp. Should I hold out and hope they give me a new one in the future? Or bite the bullet and buy one on the secondary market?
I ended up buying one built no box no instructions for 700$ cad so about 200$ more than when they were still on the shelves, very pleased with my purchase! No light damage just some dust which i cleaned off no problem!
@@jae19864x4 Awesome!
Wish I had somewhere in my house to put that UCS monster.
Has anyone else had problems with the $160 At-At having its legs give out?
No. You may want to check if you’ve built it wrong
Do you have a floor? Because this is probably the one UCS set that can be easily displayed standing on the floor next to a desk or tv stand.
@@colesullivan9659 nah I’ve double checked it. It’s built right. The hinges don’t have enough clutch power so if it’s in a walking position display it topples over extremely easily. If I have it standing with the legs perfectly straight it’s a bit more stable.
@@sethallison5682 I had an issue, had it posed, and randomly fell off my shelf the next day. So I just keep its legs straight and it's fine
Great video. The UCS set is the best to me, not because I can afford it or have the room to display - I can't and don't - but just, honestly, for piece count. I'm a simple man. Longer, bigger builds are just more fun. Greater complexity brings more satisfaction in completing the build and viewing the completed build. It's... I don't know, just some instinctual, base feeling.
I've re-bricked every At-AT ever released from used Lego parts. That includes the motorized AT-AT, which is awesome.
I just finished the motorized one this past weekend, fantastic build
I’m predicting that this video will go semi-viral just because of the title alone
Never thought of it that way lol
Yeah “$160 vs $800” doesn’t sound as catchy
I would love that UCS AT-AT but I can't justify spending that kind of money. I'm looking forward to adding the $160 version to my collection though
Yeah, The first set that i bought after coming back to LEGO was the AT-AT, i bought it for 117 Euros and damn, it looks great.
I already have the new AT-ST with the Snowtrooper and plan to buy another AT-AT later this year.
@@hmrdev-billnye8166 I just picked up the Hoth AT-ST and enjoyed the build. Nice piece for the price.
the big one looks sick as just a display. I never got into lego's but i love OT star wars and specifically the AT-AT's and AT-ST's and boba fetts slave-1. Star Wars was just amazing overall l.ove it.
Great video, love the content
It actually seems to be only a small difference in size, but the weight, the minifig scale and the details make the UCS AT-AT really play in quite another league.
The UCS one makes it look weird!
15:10 i think this mechanism is there cause biggest model is too heavy and it wont hold just by joints like medium one does. Joints need to be firmly fixed.
Tysm you inspired me to build my
lego set that I got on christmas 6 years ago.
If the USC was remote control also I would maybe see more value. But 1000 dollars for something to sit on a shelf is too much for me 🙁
Don’t get me wrong it looks awesome
My gf got me the ucs at at for my birthday!
Nice! 👌
Bro has a girlfriend AND the UCS atat 😔
You a lucky men, bro. Needed your gf some time for her self😁
@@Rcap23 hahahahahha
I really wish the UCS ATAT came with an instruction manual similar to the UCS MF. Being old(er) I appreciated the large print on that build. I know the instructions are available on the computer, but I’m already staring at a computer screen all day.
I have a feeling that the Snowtrooper Commander will be present in a Summer Set because:
"There can't be exclusive figures behind such a big paywall" - LEGO
Since I don't like the AT-AT as a vehicle, I'll stick with the mini one.
I find the play set overpriced already, so the UCS is extremely overpriced and absolutely not worth it for me.
Seeing the thumbnail reminds me of the Family Guy Star Wars part when the AT-AT was pregnant
I’m actually getting the 160$ AT-AT, for my birthday!🎉 thank you for reviewing all 3 AT-AT’s making my life easier for building the AT-AT!❤
I'm actually very happy with the 2020 AT-AT since I got it for Christmas last year. and best of all, we actually got a very good deal from a local store called Dallas Vintage Toys. who sold it to us for $75 plus tax instead of $159.99 plus tax. the only other AT-AT's I've been wanting to add to my collection are the POTF & 2010 Hasbro toys since I really don't need to obtain every single version nor do I need the biggest & most expensive version ever to be satisfied. the 2020 was a very fun build and easily the best Christmas gift I got in 2021.
Amazing, I just bought the clearly superior $160 at at
I own all 3 of those at at’s plus the 2014 one and the micro fighter from 2015, I love those walkers, the UCS one goes well with the UCS star destroyer and falcon I have also
i love this energy
Thanks for this video I was wanting a Walker but I could only find the UCS version so it is good to know there is a cheaper alternative not a $1000 or $10 alternative.
Jeez MandR you are giving me flashbacks of the At At, I took me 4 whole days. I love the set but was quite the task and not a lot of people are up for that 6000 pieces task.
My wife put that two pack in my stocking and was like, let's look in our stocking first this year and then I opened the ucs one last 😁
Great vid!
Courage is not about taking risks unknowingly, but putting your own being in front of challenges that others may not be able to.
Hey mate love your channel, keep up the good work 👌
I feel like people just forget that there are and have been sets with a lotta mini figures, the lego death star had what like 27? There is no reason besides greed as to why this set that cost double what the UCS deathstar costed at release only has 9 mini figures.
I love the Razor Crest Microfighter
The head on the biggest one can move too. I saw a video and there is some kind of level you use. When pushing it in it also locks it into place.
normally once I display a set I just leave it but adjusting the UCS at at legs every now and then has been fun for me
i actually bought the playset version (or at least ordered it) , love the scale of the UCS but its just to damn big & to expencive for me , the playset is also a very beautifull model & a bit more easy to display
The second AT-AT being a 40 years ESB set i was expecting it to come with something special maybe a 40 years plack or a vader hologram piece i was kinda surprised and disappointed it didn't
The fact they cheaped out on giving you the mini figs is kinda insane considering how much you’re paying
Microfighter is the best as you get another side to fight back 😂
What I do when looking for lego's for my room is make a list of all the cool sets and then pick and chose and this helped because funny enough both At-At's there on the list (the bigger ones) good to see them next to each other helps with that would look good :D
At the moment I have not idea which one I will get but the future will tell :) thanks for this help to see everything in a sense
Main perk of the microfighter AT-AT: it's the only one out of three that can stand on its hind legs even with a minifig inside!
To be honest, I quite enjoy the micro AT-AT. Now I'm considering getting the $160 since it perfectly fits on my 36cm height shelf. Ah, also, sorry, as much as I like Lego's offering and appreciate the UCS, it is really not practical for me as it's just way TOO big, as well as I can't justify the price; I'd need to absolutely love it and I prefer buying technic cars for the money as I enjoy those more :) Great vid! thanks a lot for the comparison!
