Letitia Kiu thanks, just bumped into this problem just now, haha!
Thanks for this ☺️
But please be careful when you are reusing the soap bottle because it is said that if you don wash it and dry it in the sun, it can cause skin irritations, if worse, bad things can happen. So please be careful!!
The DIY mesh bags tho, GENIUS 😄😄
Yessss! Go get you one, or DIY!
Letitia Kiu that would be a great thing for you to make to trade or sell!
Can you make some for me? I don’t have a sewing machine ...
See how much you can make selling shopping kits
www.etsy.com/listing/498449849/vegan-zero-waste-shopping-kit-with?ref=shop_home_feat_1&bes=1
@@ms1295 you can make some with plain thread and needle ! It may take a bit longer but it works the same !
Letitia, you are such a breath of fresh air! This marie-kondo craze is great and all but people are just deciding to throw everything out, but the ultimate solution is to be more resourceful with what we have and stop impulse buying everything! lol
😭😭 Thank you Alexa! Just trying my best
Marie kondo method is not that bad if they donate stuff they want to throw, but as you said, it's important to buy only the things you need.
@@moonsakuragarden donating is great and all but 84% of donated items end up in a landfills when they are not bought!!
@@2002stargirl exactly! The problem is people donate and forget that second hand/thrift stores end up throwing out a lot of things they are given. the best way is to trade or sell what is actually usable, get your things in the hands of people who will actually use what you are letting go of. Be more concious of what you are purchasing to break the cycle more often.... etc.
thats so true, instead of chucking out all my normal toothbrushes and produce bags, I reused them for other purposes! also I just uploaded a 'living plastic free for a week' challenge and I actually really loved it and learnt heaps. If you ever get the chance it would mean so much if u could check it out, I really hope I can inspire u with some tips or something new to try x
we should ALL be living like this!! it would benefit everyone & the environment, I'm not sure why this type of lifestyle isn't seriously enforced.
Cla Lyrics I also wish more people in America lived this lifestyle. I’m studying ecology and sustainability is very important to me. Sadly, our society (mostly companies) has thrived on the use of plastics because of their cost and availability. A lot of companies will resist using other materials because they are more expensive, and a lot of citizens will resist using other materials because it’s less convenient. The biggest thing that will help the environment is a massive mindset change. We’re on our way but we’re not there yet 😞.
Can this be a series please? Would love to follow along your low-impact living journey! I'm in the process of transitioning to a more sustainable lifestyle as well heheh
@@n.o.4552 I started a plant-based diet in mid-October. It's not as hard as I thought it would be. I'm also trying to stay away from processed vegan foods
LOLOLOL "not.. that they know that we share..."
Honestly so relatable lol. Stealing items you have bulk from home instead of buying more shit is saving the environment!
A bubble tea straw! I was just talking about them the other day. I've never seen a reusable bubble tea straw before. I just decided to keep and wash one out last time I bought bubble tea.
The Cara Company sells bubble tea straws!
You can get them on Amazon too! I got 5 of them for 10€ just two weeks ago. This way I have one in each backbag/purse and I never leave without one. You never know when you'll stop for bubble tea 😄
Also, changing your search engine to Ecosia is more sustainable!
Allison -yes! I started using this one recently and live knowing that I’m planting trees just by searching internet!
Doesn’t that one cause viruses
@@lydia9186 nope.
Ah yeah! I had seen an ad for it at school, and I looked it up on Google and went onto it, and it made me very happy that I could help the environment even just searching up stuff!!
Thanks for this! I remember looking into that a few years ago but forgot about it. Just got it installed after reading your comment.
My latina mum has been doing the first hack whenever we’re almost out of soap for my entire lifetime
Couldn’t relate to a comment any more haha
after the folding of the curtain, i had a lightbulb moment because it registered that it was mesh. brilliant! you can even use it as a laundry bag for delicates (which is what i immediately thought)
Ooooh! Yes! These would perfectly double as laundry bags
@@letitiakiu maybe you'll need to install a zipper or buttons in case a drawstring is not secure enough.. hmm hmm hmm
I had to get rid of my sewing machine and when I found out about re usable produce bags, I got a couple delicates laundry bags. I just weight my produce first, then put them back in the bag, but the 2 cent differents shouldn't really hurt.
love this, most "living sustainably" videos are just someone talking to the camera, it is really nice to see what you do and also love the DIY stuff! I will for sure implement this in my own life.
I love the idea with produce bags! Such a great way to repurpose nets
I love the idea of using those curtains for produce bags. Totally gonna make some.
Dani Xoxo you can also buy them on Etsy ( or make a cheaper version to sell! )
www.etsy.com/listing/498449849/vegan-zero-waste-shopping-kit-with?ref=shop_home_feat_1&bes=1
Love the diy produce bag!
Lia Nguyen Same! The ones they sell at the grocery store are terribly overprices
Yes! And so easy to make 😀
A nice but pricey kit available on Etsy www.etsy.com/listing/498449849/vegan-zero-waste-shopping-kit-with?ref=shop_home_feat_1&bes=1
It is really cool.
Love the tip of making the sheer curtains into produce bags. I have a bunch of these curtains (I used them as a canopy/curtains around my bed until I saw a HUGE spider hanging out on them).
Nice work! I'm in Toronto as well, happy to find yoir channel. You have a very calm manner, not preachy, boring or in my face. Thx for all your tips.
Love when people making these kind of videos! This year I started with plastic free shopping and less waste. Thank you so much for your video. I really appreciate it 🙏
I LOOOOOOOVE the curtain produce bag idea! That's so creative!
So many ideas I never thought of, I’m truly inspired.
Thank you so much for sharing.
ah so obsessed with your lighting and quality in general!! plus also your videos!
I am so glad I found you!!!!!!!!! Your advice and DIYs are amazing and I have been implementing them into everyday life. Thank you for being real and insightfully pleasant! Much love ❤️
The thing about turning old mesh curtains into produce bags is genius. I even have an old curtain already I could use. Was originally planning to use some cheesecloth from my stash but that is a much better idea. Thank you!
Love the produce bag you made! That gave me an idea to do the same. I was going to buy some myself the ones I wanted had a plastic thing attached to string to help lock it in place. I like your mesh bag so much more.
I was just thinking about how many produce bags I was using this morning!! So excited to try out your reusable ones, thank you 💕✨
Excellent info again! High production value and fun to watch. You rock!!
Wow, the foam soap dispensers are such a great tip that I've never even thought of! Definitely need to print out one of those recycle charts!
Me too. She had some really great tips.
I love these ideas! They are so creative, and it inspires me.❤️
the diy produce bag is so smart!
This is best CZcams video I have watched in a long time,so much meaning content ...I feel inspired all over again
Love the foam dispensers!!!
I love this video you were so honest in everything and you handcrafted so many of your swaps which I admire so much! It’s very tempting to buy reusable bags even when it comes to zero waste. And I’m so excited to try this app!
Thanks for the tip with getting a fabric for the produce bags from a thrift store!! I've been wanting to make some produce bags so thanks.
that is soooo smart making your own mesh bags! definitely going to do that, and basically everything else you recommended in this video! 😍
I loooove the diy produce bag!!!
I love the mesh bag idea!!!
I've been watching a lot of sustainable videos lately, and what I really enjoyed of yours is the DIYs you made. Starting a more sustainable life doesn't mean throwing everything out to buy plastic free, reusable items, but by using what you already have to move forward. Love the cotton rounds and mesh bag hack! What a great simple way to refuse fabrics.
You should look into DIY wax food wrap! I've seen videos floating around on youtube and they don't seem difficult
thats so true, I wish I did more of this! I just uploaded a 'living plastic free for a week' challenge and I actually really loved it and learnt heaps. If you ever get the chance it would mean so much if u could check it out, I really hope I can inspire u with some tips or something new to try x
Gonna try these hacks out myself! And thank you for being the one introducing me to BUNZ!!! 🙏
HAPPY TRADING MY DEAR FRENDDDDD
I’ve been doing the soap hack for many, many years now! Liquid soap lasts so long!
Just found your channel by trying out channel names for one I’m starting soon! So glad I found yours!
Many blessings to you and your family!
Many bedsheet sets come with a drawstring cotton bag. It can be used for produce shopping.
These are genuinely great tips!
How have I never heard of this app?! These tips were awesome and thanks so much for showcasing a way to save money & the environment!
This was such a wonderful video!! I love the ideas and the visuals
this video was perfect for inspo!
Just found your channel. Thank u for bringing awareness to this ❤️ loved the video. I especially loved the DIYs. I’m going to try it out!
Wow! Actually found tips i haven’t seen before. The diy product bag is genius!!
Deanna Ross you can also buy some on Etsy
www.etsy.com/listing/498449849/vegan-zero-waste-shopping-kit-with?ref=shop_home_feat_1&bes=1
Love the mesh bag diy!
That soap idea was great
Love the reusable produce bags!
same, I just brought some for my recent challenge video! I went plastic free for a week!
Thank you for this, and I really appreciate the community you've made.. taking steps to save the environment sometimes feels so overwhelming when you feel as if you're all alone
seeing these videos and knowing that others are watching really quiets some anxiety i feel towards the subject
I know that pressure! These are just small steps that can be taken, and I hope to continue improving!
This is wonderful! I love the idea of using old curtains to make produce bags. I feel like all the sustainable youtubers tell you to buy brand new produce bags even though the pollution from production means that you have to use it for years before it has a positive effect on the environment. Your idea is also way cheaper! Please keep making videos like this!
love all of these! cant wait to add some of these to my own eco-friendly tips videos
This is a really useful video. It's so practical and well made. Awesome!
If I hadn't just bought my produce bags I would be racing to the thrift store tomorrow to find drapes! So disappointed I didn't think of that first! What a great idea :) Thanks for all the great tips!
The produce bag idea blew my mind! I been looking for them online and they are so expensive. I am definitely putting this in mind at my next trip to my thrift store.
We need more videos like these!
Thanks for the tips!
I’ve heard a few people commenting about a reusable bubble tea straw and just wanted to recommend The Cara Company! They have a few types and all straws have a pointy bottom to poke through lids.
Really love the idea of turning curtains into produce bags.
What a freaking amazing video, so much work has been put in this video, i wish you the best and hope you get noticed more
i love my reusable straws they r so cute and travel friendly
Thanks for the great eco friendly tips! Please keep spreading the positivity!
I just uploaded a 'living plastic free for a week' challenge and I actually really loved it and learnt heaps. If you ever get the chance it would mean so much if u could check it out, I really hope I can inspire u with some tips or something new to try x

Very useful and realistic, love it !💕

Wow what an amazing idea I'm def. Going to the thrift store and making bags out of curtains!!!!

Ok, this was the best video that I've seen on sustainable hacks! Awesome job!
ikr! I just uploaded a 'living plastic free for a week' challenge and I actually really loved it and learnt heaps. If you ever get the chance it would mean so much if u could check it out, I really hope I can inspire u with some tips or something new to try x
Your hack for the produce bag is genius! I am so going to do that, because I have been wanting some of those bags but I am too cheap.
I got a completely new polaroid instax on bunz for a few bags of coffee! We had both gotten them as birthday gifts and weren't gonna use them. Glad you're bringing some attention to trading :)
Pela phone cases are amazing!
I'm so glad I found your channel!! It's awesome to have an asian canadian role model for me, as I'm trying to live a more sustainable life :))
this is a really great video. I always have these types of videos in my subscriptions, but feel like I know all the tricks already, and they usually don't teach me much. but this video did!! (i never even comment on videos and I had to let u know)!! love it
Loved the ideas! Especially the curtains! Such a good idea! But sad to see BUNZ is Toronto only😔
The curtain hack is 💯💯💯💯💯
I love this so much!
This was such a great video, Letitia!!
Thank you Lindsey!!
Some great ideas letitia thank you
Thank you Tony!
I love the idea of Bunz, I actually downloaded it a few weeks ago! I live in San Jose, CA and no one uses it around me... makes me sad! Hopefully it will become popular in my area soon!
Same just tried to use it I am in Los Angeles but sadly no one around me was on the app. 💔
I love these kinds of videos so much!
I'm so glad you do!
I’ve recently been trying to reduce my carbon footprint. It’s so hard and stressful when everyone around you does the opposite. Knowingly or not, it stresses me out :(. Your video was so motivating. And taught me a few tricks! Thank you!
I love the app referral!!
Hangdry your clothes 😊 uses less energy and produces no emissions♻️🌍👌
Clothes will look brand new for almost ever...no more fading, either!
I like to do this. I don’t hang fry everything but if there’s less in my dryer it will shut off when the stuff in there is dry
I always hang dry my clothes in summer, spring, or just when it’s not raining lol
And you get a workout in
@@fiestyfox2207 Hanging clothes to dry is NOT a workout, lmao. This is why the world is getting fatter every year, smh
I love this video, please could you share the link to your recycle list x
amazing video. just downloaded the app
I hang dry my laundry instead of using a machine dryer. Since I live in a small apartment, I have a foldable drying rack. On the rare occasions that I do use the dryer, I don't use sheets or dryer balls at all. Just the clothes. I never seem to have a problem with it.
Girl I just got my boba straw cause I know the exact obsession - they are amazing! I am an English teacher in Seoul, so I am actually doing a 'Save the Earth' themed camp and will be giving away low waste items as part of the prizes for good behaviour. I was actually surprised by how much styrophome was used here for delivery items as it isn't used as much elsewhere, but it's great that it's so well recycled.
Those food wraps you can also easily make out of left over cotton cloths from your sewing. Just iron some bee wax in which you can get on the internet or just ask local beekeeper if you know one. To iron it in just use baking paper.
Love the DIYs and app suggestions! 💚 Not consuming animal products (wool, Dove, etc) is also a huge environmental thing we can toward a more sustainable life 💚
Great hacks! Instead of buying huge containers every time for your house products and bathroom products, refill stations are also great! Not sure about the price comparison with supermarket goods though.
