Keyless Ford Locked Out With a Key!

  • If you have a Ford Fiesta with a proximity key, you need to know about this. There's a chance that at some point you'll be locked out even though you have a key.
There are several reasons that your key won't open the car
    1. The key battery is flat. This is the obvious reason and you can watch out video showing you how to change the key battery here
    2. There is a major problem with the car, such as a faulty module. This needs looking at by a Ford specialist
    3. The one no-one thinks off, a flat battery on the car. When this happens, it won't respond to the key so you need to know how to open the car with the emergency key. This is shown in the video.

Thank you soo much. After purchasing a Ford Focus ST, I thought that the seller didn't give me the physical key. I thought I would either need to buy a complete lock unit with keys from Ford which would cost me a fortune. This is life-saving!

I completely thought the same as you did. Bought my Fiesta ST3, 2016 a couple of weeks back & was concerned I'd have to approach Ford on this supposed problem. Just looked in me key fob & there was the key blade. Even if I'd have found it by chance I wouldn't have known how to use it without watching this video. Brilliant!

Really helpful thanks! Not having used my car for at least four weeks due to the Covid Lockdown, I went to my 2016 Focus to find neither fob would work. With the help of this video, I got straight in and the car started first time - I suspect the keys had some sort of problem as a result of not being used... Thank you so much!

so I took off the under tray to access the live side of the starter motor, I saw that I could see the bonnet release cable ,bingo ! released bonnet, set off alarm then the remote worked ,there was a good emount of charge, deep joy all fixed, I have attached some nylon string to the latch for emergency release.

Hi Steve. Can you help with this...
Mondeo Mk 4, 2l diesel 2010. Recent flat battery (during lockdown) and keyfob(s) have never operated since then. Car has been driven and operated several times since (using the emergency start 'secret' key) and the vehicle battery is now reading 12v+. I've tried several combinations of rear fog lights/hazards to try to reprogramme the things, but they steadfastly refuse to come to life.
The standard warnings appear ('key outside vehicle', 'low battery', etc.). Everything else in the electrics seems to be working fine.
She fires up first time everytime so I'm reluctant to go to the expense of a new vehicle battery if there is a 'simple' programming solution.
ps...fob batteries in right way (!) and reading 3v.

Hi bud. My Mrs car wouldn't open this morning with the fob and I had a fiddle and discovered the back up key, it still wouldn't unlock using the key, however turning it to the right did make the lights flash and it lock again. After this the fob started working again and the car was fine. I am just wondering does this point to the locking computer being faulty? Thanks

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  Před 4 lety

Hi, so I think there are two different problems here. The key blade should turn both ways in the lock freely, if it only turns locked then there is an old fashioned issue with the key blade and lock that needs looking at by an Auto Locksmith.
As far as the buttons not opening the car, it sounds like the car went to sleep and couldn't hear the key. Had it been sat for a while?
We see this on cars that haven't been used for a month or so, as soon as something is operated on the car, like the lock, then the car comes back to life!
