    The first in the mix sound comparison has a low pass and high pass filter on guitar tracks. The comparison you hear after that doesn't have anything else involved. It's the dry tone coming out of the microphone.

    The Lynchback sounded the best to me in this test. I like speakers that not only cut through the mix, but cut through with authority, and that's why I liked the Lynchback. It has muscle and thickness to lend authority to the guitar tone, but at the same time it has a complex harmonically rich mid-range that not only cuts through the ix better than the Vintage 30 but also lends a nice clarity to the notes.

    Great comparison. I like the way you did in a mix and on its on. That way we can hear how it sounds in all situations. Also using a short but dynamic riff was perfect. Allows us to actually hear the properties of the speaker. I hate when some people just shred to show their chops. That does nothing for a comparison. A+ video. Thank you for taking the time. Still don't know which my favorite is. The only one I didn't like was the A Type.

      @@jaycee30865 T75s are 3 dbs lower than V30s and both H speakers. "Although an increase of 3 dB represents a doubling of the sound pressure, an increase of about 10 dB is required before the sound subjectively appears to be twice as loud. The smallest change we can hear is about 3 dB." Pulled straight from google and I get what they mean. It is definitely possible to hear a difference at 1 or 2 dbs difference but 3 is when it kind of jumps out. That being said, a V30 is not twice as loud.

    after having hours upon hours put in with my marshall DSL through an EVH 2x12 with the G12H30's and having become somewhat tired of what I percieve anyway as an overly fizzy character and unrefined low end, this is very much helping me make up my mind for the replacements and I am leaning towards either the V types or the creamback 75s

    • @ThevonMusic
      @ThevonMusic  Před 3 lety +3

      I think you'll dig the Creamback's the most if you want nice treble. Actually the best treble that I've experienced comes from the Celestion Cream, but unfortunately I don't have one anymore, so it didn't end up in the video. It's an alnico speaker so quite expensive, but has such a nice fizz to it without being harsh. I think this speaker is mostly used for cleans, but damn... it sounded super awesome with high gain too, especially in the room.

    • @metalinsights9664
      @metalinsights9664 Před 2 lety

      The DSLs are quite scooped. I recommend running mids on 10, treble no more than 4, preferably 3, presence wide open on 10, bass and resonance around 5. That will get it into useable territory, regardless of the speaker used.

      I have a dsl40cr that came with the V-Type and it's really fizzy and lacks bottom end...it sounds thin and brittle...not so bad for blues and country...terrible for metal though.
      I use an extension cab loaded with a Vintage 30 8ohm for high gain and it fixes the fizz issue and has tons of bottom end...it thumps and has searing creamy leads...so much better than the v-type for that application.

      @@TheAxe4Ever a speaker like the v30 slays in taming the woofiness of something like a dual rectifier and bringing out its mids amongst all the low end, where they can get harsh with somethings thats crunchier like a 5150 which is too much high end paired with v30s.

    • @TheAxe4Ever
      @TheAxe4Ever Před 4 lety +2

      borutos dad I guess that’s why I hated them so much. I got my first Peavey 5150 head (Block letter) when they first came out. I was playing it through a Marshall cab with V30’s and hated it. I had been through a few cabinets through the years and they all came loaded with V30’s for some reason. Probably because they were a popular speaker and I really wanted to try to like them. Recently I went with the EVH 5150 III and the same thing. V30’s were awful with that too. Finally broke down and bought the matching cab with the EVH G12. They are actually the G12M Heritage speakers with the EVH badge on the back. MUCH better. So yeah, you are correct. Depends on the amp they’re paired with.

    Would the G12T-75 work well when mixed with the V-Type ? I love the T-75 but I prefer mixing it , V30 is the classic choice but I can't afford it for the moment ,would the V-Type be a good and cheaper alternative to the V30 ? I'm asking just for advice here

    My issue with this one is the v30 sounds nothing like the v30's I've got, far clearer on the top end here. Most of these sound great too, makes me want to reconsider the v-type and g12-65.

    • @ReddenDoom
      @ReddenDoom Před 2 lety

      @@vicferrari89 I had some long talks with various V30 nerds about this and the consensus was that the initial differences are the most apparent. After years of burn in, apparently the V30s from China sound similar to the UK. As far as I know they moved all their manufacturing equipment to China to get them set up too, and after some setbacks early on, should be pretty close. That said, I think the original equipment is in the UK again with the Chinese stuff calibrated off of it. There is a whole thing about the cones too. I've also realized how massively cab construction affects tone from my own testing, probably more than China vs UK ever would. Since getting my H&K V30 4x12, I'm perfectly happy with the tone I'm getting from well used China V30s.
