  • Welcome to my video. Here I explore an old abandoned derelict looking pub dwelling on the outskirts of Preston. The pub dates back to the 1820s and after many years of merriment closed its doors in 2014 and sold on in 2015. It was then sold again in 2019 and was on its way to becoming a riverside restaurant but that never materialised due to covid restrictions and the project was abandoned. An interesting thing here is that the pub is built on what was part of a two day battlefield in the 1600s as Oliver Cromwells New Model army forced the opposition out of Preston during the 2nd English civil war. I wasn't a regular visitor here to recall what it was like when a pub but imagine it's now looking very different to people who knew it! I can't really see it being anything now apart from being left to ruin, although there does appear to be proposals for a 10 bed townhouse but wouldn't be surprised if its demolished at some point, It looks pretty wrecked from the rear. I did look for listed status but can't seem to find anything, which isn't in it's favour. It was a sad sight to see the pub in such a sorry state and I did notice a lot of damp around the place, which is never a good thing, and is becoming open to the elements of nature which we all know can take hold very quickly. The only certainty about this place is that its served its last pint and is yet another pub gone forever. Enjoy.
