  • amzn.to/3Ge2qa2 I've got another trip ahead so what better reason then to explore another Mini Travel Toolkit. In this version, I am starting with the zipper pouch and filling it up. This is not my main toolkit, but rather one that is always in reach. Am I missing anything?

Great Idea to start from the cocoon pouch. Bought one some time ago when it was on sale and planned or use it with some special instrument, but that didn’t fit in. A lot of my other pouches are either too short or way too big. This elongated one lets one use longer tools but doesn’t become too bulky... and helps to stay disciplined and not take too much with.

Great vid. I agree with others' comments that any bolt/nut head size bigger than 15mm usually require the torque not suited for 1/4" drive. I think if you are to include lug nut type of application tools but still wanting to make the package compact, 3/8" ratchet and sockets maybe more adequate. Or just have a separate system just for the hight torque application (but then again it won't be as 'mini' tool kit. I also have mixed feelings about the flip socket for being not as versatile in small spaces. Plus if you need so much adapters to use them, I'm not sure if that's saving any space or weight, compared to using simple sockets.

The only glaring omission I see is a full size breaker bar to go with that 17/19mm flip socket, purty sure that 1/4’ ratchet isn’t going to cut it. That being said, if your actually going to carry it, consider switching to the 19/21mm flip, it will fit the majority of lug nuts out there. You can keep the breaker bar in the back and I won’t tell anybody.

A flashlight would be good. Perhaps a lighter. And a needle nose plier. And... I tell you what, I'm no good at these things😜
But most likely you carry these tools either on your person or in the other set.
I would probably move that large socket to the other toolset (unless you have a flat tire every other day). Can't think of what else I would use a 17mm/19mm socket for...what else would you use it for besides lug nuts?
Love the inclusion of the 1/4" hex adapter! I have the VIM version of it. When you need that extra bit of torque, a bit adapter and 1/4" ratchet usually do the trick!

Guessing you don't see yourself needing 1/4" hex-drive bits, and admittedly the included ratchet is diminutive, but have you considered the ICON 35pc ratchet set? I've paired mine with a set of 1/4" hex-drive sockets from Tekton. May or may not offer your more versatility than those flip sockets, but it would probably take up slightly more space.

I’m excited to see the tool kit 3.0, hopefully it’s between a fatty pocket and a mechanics box. I have been trying to build up a general purpose kit for a few years. I have several Maxpedition fatty pockets and slings, but cramming everything into a pocket isn’t ideal because in use it sucks getting things out and putting them back when everything is tightly packed in and won’t zip if not put back the same way it came out. I have packouts for specific jobs, if I’m going to do a plumbing job I fill it from my shop, etc. My goal is a great all around general purpose kit, I get that it’s not an easy task because of the trade offs but the 2.0 was really getting there.

A hundred dollar bill is essential. It opens doors, makes parts appear and grumpy mechanics help you.
    Don't leave hone without it.

I used to keep a $20 stashed away under the dash in a spot. In the 2000's, I switched to a $50. I find it hard to go to a Hundred, but you are 100% spot on... Maybe a $50, two $20's and a $10.... That way you can pay the least as possible.

Here the mechanics are pirates. All that is missing is a parrot on the shoulder.

You don't say what you do 🤷‍♂
Like...that would be a pretty lousy toolkit for an electrician or a motorcycle mechanic...

I'm pretty sure he states he will break the lugs loose with another heavy socket/lug tool. This is just to spin them on/off faster.
