Today we are exploring things to see, do, and eat on a daytrip from Anchorage to Whittier. Scenic drives, hiking, wildlife viewing, exploring, shopping, eating, jet skiing, and more... Who knew you could pack so much into one day?! Alaska summers provide so much daylight that it can be done. We hope you enjoy these highlights and suggestions of what you could do on a Day Trip from Anchorage to Whittier, on your very own Land Tour of Alaska.
We also mention in the video a special website that has been created to highlight Alaskan businesses affected by the loss of tourism, Shop49th.com. You can check it out here: www.shop49th.com

So beautiful! Hope you have a great trip.
@@CarterChronicles yes looking forward to seeing Alaska
Very helpful video, certainly some great tips about where to visit.
I would appreciate it if you could reply with a few different places to eat for family with kids.
Seafood
(Are there any restaurants in Anchorage or Whittier or Sewerd that grill or cook fresh caught fish from the sea?)
Burger restaurants?
Chicken sandwich restaurants, etc.?
Pizzerias?
Glad you found the video helpful.
As far as restaurants go, there aren’t a ton to choose from in Whittier or Seward. You’ll have the most options in Anchorage.
For seafood, I’m not sure if you are wanting to find places that will cook fish that YOU have caught… That I don’t know about.
But if you are just wanting places that serve local, fresh seafood, I would say the majority do.
Here are some places in Anchorage to check out:
Seafood- Glacier Brewhouse
Burgers- Tommy’s Burgers
Chicken- Lucky Wishbone
Pizza- Moose’s Tooth
Breakfast- Snow City Cafe or Granny B’s
Bakery- Fire Island Bakery
@@CarterChronicles Thank you, that's helpful.
Alaska is certainly on my bucket list, to visit, but I am not traveling alone, I have a wife and 2 kids, and of course different tastes of food. While I can eat just about anything, my wife would love the Idea of going to a seafood restaurant that would serve fresh caught fish. No not one I caught. I don't fish at all, I was thinking more places like Swiftwater seafood from Whittier. Fresh fish, etc.
My son only really loves burgers and pizza.
We think Alaska should be on everyone’s bucket list. 😊
Best of luck with the rest of your travel planning.
Planning a trip to Alaska with my husband and dad in May 2023. The Sea Doo trip is one I am thinking about. We own PWC and this looks amazing. It's a 4.5 hour trip, are there any breaks?
There weren’t breaks as far as getting off the watercraft (like no bathroom breaks), but there were breaks from driving. We would go a ways, then stop to see something, take pictures, the guide would tell us information about what we were looking at, then go again. So in that respect, there were some “breaks” from driving, but you are in the dry suit, on the watercraft for a long time.
@@CarterChronicles Thank you so much for this information!
Are there boat cruises to see the sound? Do they operate in early May?
There are boat cruises that operate out of Whittier. I’m not sure when they run. You could search for “Whittier Boat Cruises” to see, or even try “Whittier glacier cruises.”
With the jet ski do you have to be in a group or.can you go alone as well ?
You don’t have to be in a group. You could certainly go alone. Now when we went they had to have at least two people signed up for a session for them to go. So as long as at least one other person has signed up for the day and time you want to go, you would be good. 😊
How you purchase the tunnel ticket?
There is a booth that you have to stop at before entering the line up to go in to the tunnel. It is at that booth that you pay the tunnel access fee, which covers you driving to Whittier and back.
@@CarterChronicles thank you, so I don’t need to make reservations online. Is it correct?
Correct. That being said, I would still check the website to make sure nothing has changed before you plan to go. Also, the booth accepts cash, local checks, traveler’s checks, visa, and MasterCard for the toll.
Did the personal watercraft tour company provide the wetsuits for the tour or did you bring them?
They provide everything you need: dry suits, footwear, helmet, and communication device. And their equipment was very well maintained!
When was this travel ?
This trip was in July of 2019.
Do you know if the train ride offers better views than the road trip from Anchorage to Whittier ?
I have not ridden the train from Anchorage to Whittier, but they take pretty much take the same route (including the tunnel), with the train tracks running parallel to the road most of the way.
I would rather listen to the narrator than a damn music what are you trying to sell the music or information make up your mind!!!!!
Not trying to sell anything, just sharing our experience. Thanks for the feedback.
Carter Chronicles, that's a very classy reply!
You could have expressed this feedback in a much nicer way. Pity you.
