Heads up, removing drywall instead of just rip it out, if you shimmy it pull it back and forth you can pull the screws/ nails out and get full sheets off the wall

not always. EG - older homes with heart pine framing can hold nails harder than vice grips.

@@jeffrichardson5880 not disagreeing at all lol. That and older drywall likes to come off in pieces but new construction drywall comes off nice if you shimmy it lol

I came to the comments hoping someone posted the correct way to remove to remove drywall. 👍😅
Ripping out like that is how you would remove really old drywall or plaster

Demoed an old bathroom this week. Removed a portion of a closet from the other room too. Giving the shower more room. Some came out nice in full pieces. There were about 20-30 nails on each stud. Very tough wire mesh in the angles of the ceiling and wall.
I don't mind my plumbing, Tiling and Carpentery work. I don't have the energy for demo and carrying all the shit out as a small two man team.
But I do it regardless of the exhaustion here and there. As it doesn't occur that much for my work.

The insulation behind his job is fiberglass which he disturbed and sent small glass shards floating through the air. If you have fiberglass batting behind your drywall, WEAR A RESPIRATOR! your lungs cannot get rid of fiberglass particles.

Is it difficult to locate the screws connecting the drywall and the wall studs? Removing the screws first seem to be much cleaner way to remove dry wall.

That’s the less mess, surgical way to do it.
Locate all screws with magnet and burrow out its hole.
Razor blade to the tape where drywall edges meet.
      Remove fasteners.
Remove entire pieces of dry wall.
      ….
You can also do it like a caveman and get mess everywhere. Then spend time cleaning this shit off everywhere.

NO! This video was helpful until 2:18. Please do not follow the advice after that point.
There's easier ways to remove larger pieces of the sheetrock without hammering holes.
There's fiberglass insulation to deal with and zero advice about proper health considerations.
Keep searching. There's better DIY videos out there. I'm actually shocked that HD allowed this to be published with their name on it.
