  • The government has unveiled its action plan for the next three months, giving itself a mark of 35 out of 36 for its April through June efforts.
    The second-quarter plan followed the government's initial 100-day agenda, which Prime Minister Christopher Luxon boasted about having completed - but RNZ's closer analysis revealed the completion of 15 of the 49 actions was up for debate.

    Building costs increases by 41%. You won’t find any tradies who have had a pay rise greater than 10% if that.
    The costs are material ones. Break all the monopolies in materials which are so ludicrously expensive that there is little money left for the people that actually turn those materials into buildings

    • @adsdft585
      @adsdft585 Před 29 dny

      Across the world building materials jumped in 2021 by high %.
      The costs on the farm increased due to fertilizer costs jumping from the overseas country that is the large supplier in the world .
      If one looked at the USA President of the 1920s to 1940s, what economic measures did they put in place they out thought this government.

      Best decision made in cancelling the over engineered ferries. You do realise they could not travel the same route due to their draft which meant they had to go the longer way around the Marlborough heads. And an initial cost of $750million blowing out to $3.2billion and growing is why it should have been scrapped.

      Not sure you understood my point about the effects of putting a profit mode on health care. Your view seems myopic and centered on what the government told you last, I'm old enough to have experienced the difference between health care today and health care before Rogernomics. It isn't even a health system issue, its a systematic failure that encompasses the whole economy, it's not just hospitals that don't have the money they require.
      In a healthy economy worker's earn a living wage instead of a minimum wage. Ipsofacto they can afford all of life's necessities, instead we're underpaid and overworked, and as a direct consequence govt is forced to subsidize living costs i.e working for families, dental care, accommodation supplements, and on and on and on.
      The system is bought off by lobbyists, and your average Joe lives in ignorance of how this world works globally in an economic sense. And well in terms to improving education outcomes, that's a whole bigger issue on its own that needs a massive overhaul. More teachers to reduce class sizes is proven to give better results whereby teachers can get more one on one time with students that need more intensive help. So many student needs that are skipping through the cracks

    People in nz the last 6 years have been living so comfortable that they’re scared of change and the thought of adapting terrifies them. Thus they attack current coalition government.

      What change? Most of the policies being passed by this government are the same as those that were in place before Labour came to power, there is no change, it's just back to the status quo that hasn't worked.
