- A fan’s hastily written analysis of the first episode of the new season of Don’t Hug Me I'm Scared. This was made in the middle of the night because I couldn’t sleep due to paranoia that common household objects were going to strangle me in my sleep.

How are you? How is your child?
The next analysis video is up:) Sooner or later everyone runs out of time.

Good thank you
Good thank you
@@MichaelDoesStuff420 you don’t have a child
I like my child, but not as much as I like ✨LASAGNA✨
I like my child, but not as much as I like- oh someone already commented that
You didn't mention that when the characters asked Duncan where the briefcase was at the beginning he showed them the green emergency briefcase, which ended up BEING the briefcase teacher from the beginning. So if they would have listened to Duncan, they wouldn't have experienced that job as much.
YESS THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED TO SAY
#JusticeforDuncan
To be fair, would **you** listen to anything **Duncan** says?
@@DantetheHegehog14 no, in absolutely any situation, no
@@DantetheHegehog14 he seems nice?
I love when Duck is screaming for Red to do something and he just says “you’re fired” in an almost confused way, I died laughing.
"Not that!"
I got the exact same vibe about the printer, every scene with her I just wanted to call HR
Red Guy gets the b***es, even if they're inanimate objects
@@Kyumifun But... But the fax machine IS animate....
Also, at the end of the work song, the briefcase sings "Or you could be the ones, who dig a whole for a funeral", which references the next episode
*hole
@@mweeee i agree
I figured that the coin given, was actually supposed to some kinda equivalent of Duck's crypto. Like, now that they've done their job, they get a single bit of respect from the briefcase.
I did not this of this, that makes a lot of sense.
I absolutely love the tonal shift in the show and the more realized personalities of the trio
i love how you referred to the trio as “our favorite couple and their adopted child”
I feel like the meal token is similar to a Family Guy joke where Cleveland dies and goes to heaven but he, being black in a long line of white people before him, suddenly is subject to an "ID check" that nobody had to do beforehand. "It's an extremely new policy." He's being shunned by conveniently being locked out right when he's about to get something.
I've seen Duck's shunning in the workplace as a commentary on neurodivergent people in the workplace as a whole. He is clearly poorly accommodated by his job, and instead of helping Duck with his situation and working with him to make his work more enjoyable and doable, they just pretend he doesn't exist, and when that fails, shove him into a hole of work that doesn't suit him, making him less and less resistant as he realizes that he won't be helped, that he has to repress his urges and put on a tolerant face.
I really like this reading of it a lot. He's so not willing to go along with the B.S. of working life, haha.
This could be far-fetched but I think the coin stabbing duck in the eye could have been foreshadowing his death in episode 2. I haven't heard anyone suggest this. But coins were commonly placed on the eyes of the deceased so the dead would have payment to cross the river styx. Commonly called corpse coins.
That makes so much sense
Also !! When one of the ducks are killed (hit by the shovel), his eye falls out.
Great points in general, but especially about Yellow Guy's accident being the result of his old age and rendering him defective. Red Guy's response being "You're fired" was a amazing touch as well.
Two things I loved about this episode. One was duck's complete arrogance, saying things like "I'm the best one" and "I've got the most valuable brain" and being a hilarious jerk to Duncan and the other workers.
The other thing was that Yellow Guy's wife was a spanner and their daughter was a yellow spanner. I just found that adorable.
I want every analysis to be this deranged and sleep deprived please
I think if I'm not careful, it might become my trademark lol
You can tell i've spent too long in the DHMIS rabbit hole when the second I first watched the new series I thought "I can't wait to see a video showcasing all the hidden easter eggs of the episode and analysing them."
:) I literally just finished editing the next one. Welcome.
I feel like everyone who's here has spent too long in the rabbot hole. But we cannot be saved. Not one.
Seen a lot of DHMIS tv show breakdowns recently (obviously) and this feels like the first one with actually new or well thought out and delivered information. Please keep going! You give me Lots to think about!
:) thank u
Loved it! Another great analysis. I hope you do more of these. I am not good at picking out little details myself so this helped out a lot.
Thanks for watching man (and for making the thumbnail, it looks freaking sick!!!!)
i also thought that the part with the stress song was referencing how companies often say they care about their workers mental health and that they have resources to help workers deal with the stress of their jobs when they themselves are inflicting said stress. like with how (assuming the uhh carehound ai? can control whats being shown to duck) they put him in a tight rope and then give him books to cope with the stress of being on said tight rope but then at the same time tug on it, causing him to fall.
I would totally publish Brandon’s book, that sounds awesome.
I’m getting addicted to your videos, man. I thought I left this fandom awhile ago. Thank you.
Also it’s ok, Common household objects ALWAYS strangle me in my sleep.
I’ll publish Brandon’s book if he publishes mine.
one of my favorite secrets from the whole show is when yellow guy makes a bit into a part, and andy says that its a quality product, then sends it into a pipe just to be made into a bit again. its just a loop of meaningless work
AAA IM SO GLAD YOU MADE THIS!!! you analyzed it so amazingly and brought up some great perspectives I hadn’t even thought about! like the MONEY BLINDING THE DUCK?! genius. also again, love the energy! Also also, totally agree with you about the printer wanting to f the red guy i was like 😭 girl pls chill wtf. Cant wait to see more if you’re up for it!
Hopefully it wasn't too hypocritical after I ranted about overanalysis of the series lol. I tried to make it more about themes than hidden puzzles and whatnot
Thanks for watching!! I said a video on "Death" was coming if this video got to 300 likes, which by the looks of it is likely going to happen. Excited to continue!
@@danielprofeta not at all! you talked more about the message of the actual episode and not the lore itself and the reality that the puppets live in. either way even if you did comment on it who cares? it’s your channel and personally i love seeing any dhmis content about the show because there’s so little of it.
so good to hear that, looking forward to it!!
Episode 2 "death" shows that all main characters (including roy) had died.
"Get away from me, Duncan."
The way you go about this is purely delightful! Oh and the characters are too:)
the strange runic symbol looks like it’s spelling out “Hoes” and i love it
Now I cannot unsee it, that's freaking hilarious.
I love the line "You can be anything you want to do." Just subtly and quickly telling you that your job is you. That's who you are. This is not questioned.
Then both Red and Yellow becoms their jobs. old yellow barely says anhthing
This is great! Please continue this series, I liked and commented.
Thanks for watching, and welcome to the channel.
6:03 what if these emotions represent the main cast?
Their colors correspond with the colors of the respective characters.
Then there's the blue one which i see as Smart Yellow Guy who also has blue hair but it's fancier and more noticable.
The face has what lokks to be a third eye which often is associated with being smart, able to see everything even the unseeable. That's pretty much exactly what's going on with smart Yellow Guy. Plus he's not exactly happy with the new knowledge he learns.
I loved this analysis. The show has surpassed everything I loved about the youtube series!
I was thinking the same thing on first watch. The free vending machine sounds like Salad fingers.
The music and humor in this series is so good, I wish more shows had vibes like this 🥺
These videos are so good! I was looking for someone to go through the details in this crazy show.
this is the first video i’ve seen from you and i absolutely love it
Welcome to the channel cyberspace traveller, we hope you enjoy your stay.
I'm glad you liked the video.
I thought the hot black water was supposed to be a joke about coffe tbh
Thank you Daniel. I needed the laughter.
This was great really funny and a good analysis. You really should do episode 2👍
And hopefully, this shiny new train just keeps on rollin' :) Commenting before I watch, thirsty to learn more about this fascinating new show. (new to me, through Daniel)
YOU’RE IN MY HEAD, I ALSO thought the free vending machine sounded like David Firth lmao
Also the briefcase when he is abandoning the guys is singing "or you could be the one who digs up peapole when they die" or something like that
I just eat hed the second series, and thought to myself, i would love someone to explain and point out all the small things, i maybe didnt notice and like 10 minutes later this pops up 😍 I subbed and are patiently waiting for every video of every episode, amazing job! 😍
yellow guy is giving burnt out former gifted kid. specifically, me.
Notice how in the beginning pictures duck is seen painting something pink.
Hes then later replaced by a pink blob named stain edwards.
yes.. and to add on to that..
noticed yellow guy's scab in this episode as we as the thing that duck makes on the job resembles thing .
(future foreshadowing to a later episode)
I remember in the show duck told red "all you did was pick up a phone any one can fo that"
this is so strange - i clicked on this video from my recommended (because i obviously havent stopped thinking about the new dhmis since it came out) and immediately thought to myself "hey, this person looks oddly familiar".
well, after looking at your linked channels, it turns out that a couple months back i binged a whole bunch of your music reaction videos on dicon dissectional reactions, and i enjoyed them a lot! gonna be sticking around more again now, its awesome to see you finally get more well deserved attention & support on your videos!! :D
(also! love the shirt!!)
i work at a staffing company that fights for better conditions for manufacturing workers, and, man, knowing what i know about the manufacturing industry now this episode hit so close to home. like everything from the cloying instructional video, the disregard for safety, the promotion of quick-fixes for stress instead of taking a worker's mental health in consideration... damn. thank god we're pro-union and wanna stomp that shit out
Honestly, I thought that coin at the end was the Respect coin that Duck invented.
I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who thought the free vending machine sounds like david firth, it was driving me crazy
6:09 makes me wish I could like a video twice😂 You definitely earned my sub
Cutest charachters of dhmis.
The bread
The globe.
UNEMPLOYED BRENDEN
thanks for sharing!
Interesting fact- two of my friends in Middle school saw Dhmis 1 and 2 a while before me, and they'd sing a slightly altered and shortened version of both songs with no context. I'd get quite annoyed whenever they sang about green not being a creative colour (I didn't know DHMIS existed and loved the colour green). I also found myself humming the first few verses of Time every few hours, and one day I found the first episode kicking about on CZcams and watched it.
It traumatized me :)
Tainted water? Thats COFFEE!!!
The lifeblood of the modern worker
Nice to hear someone talk about it
5:04
I agree, That little
Vending Machine guy
does sound like David Firth,
Imagine If it was, Salad Finger’s
voiced vending machine!
2:32 favourite part of the video, that parase is just GORGEOUS
Something I noticed that I haven't seen anyone else mention, there's a post-it note in the talking trash can with one of those mysterious runes on it
"I could be the one who leads a domestic terrorist group!
To NEW YORK!"
People are crazy how can you compare 3min episodes to a full length show then call it dull, no its called pacing. People discredit themselves sometimes.
I imagine that at the end of dhmis 5 duck just stood up, left, and took his organs back
That job was.....pleasurable
Call the below number. Or the above number. Or the diagonal number.
i love this video
I literally just looped the first 10 seconds for a minute and I couldnt stop laughing
I'm glad someone else also thought the free vending machine sounded like David Firth.
I just found your channel through the 2 uploaded DHMIS analysises, and the way you talk kind of reminds me of Jordan Underneath's old content, if you're familiar. I'm eager to see more of your stuff, especially if it's horror themed.
The Elliott Smith reference 🥺, why do u have to tear my heart open
I think this episode, among many things related to work, is in part a critique of cognitive behavioral therapy. While it can be a benefit for some, it is incredibly suspicious that all the help in that therapy goes towards what makes a productive worker over almost anything else.
. . . . .I actually quite enjoyed Duck’s autotuned voice and wish that they had kept it for this series. This was a really great analysis otherwise though, and I particularly liked your interpretation of what the care hound was.
"My thing that I did" is also the only thing to be destroyed completely instead of being recycled like all the other bit and parts. Which is both comments on the little to no impact the workers have and potentially the idea that what duck made, in their eyes, is not even worth using in any form.
I don't know if this is just me miss understanding the wording but the "notice that his hat is now a smile" I think that has less to do with showing duck's happy/complacent nature and more showing that he is now apart of the team and accepted because no one gave him a hat before.
I think the answer to "is he better off this way" for duck personally is no because he didn't enter the job with a happy attitude and when he remembers what happened before his life hadn't been wasted away because he is the same age as he started as and it is his first day. He is also happier when he gets home.
I don't think anyone is actually happy about the accident (but that could just be my inability to identify emotions) but their reactions are more fear for themselves and what will happen to them if they don't act the way the company tells them they are suppose to. i.e. They are the one in the accident (like said) or whatever Carehound will do to them. I also find it interesting that we don't see the wife's reaction to this incident.
This was my favorite too!
Remember what the lamp said in a previous episode "when you recreate something in your life, you get a pound" (or something to that effect) and what does duck get in the end of this episode? 1 GBP
fun fact: when the urinal is smoking outside theres a family pack of chuddle dollops in the garbage can :3
When you said you sadistic viewer when you said you sadistic I got an ad when that happened lol
The duck's creation is immediately destroyed, like Yellow Guy's clown painting....
I wonder if the coin at the end has anything to do with the pound mentioned by the Lamp in episode 2?
3:30 I'm happy to know your a Game Theory fan
I noticed that the old dhmis was so full compared to the new series
I have no idea what in the world is going on here but that was fun lol
Roy peaking through the wall is scary as hell the shading is what makes it worse
The coin thrown at duck is a Roy coin. Of you pause the scene right before it hits his eye you can see a picture of Roy on it with a number 1 next to it.
That job feels like Amazon
great video, very entertaining.
Thank you, love your username.
@@danielprofeta Why thank you very much 😊
I knew I wasn’t the only one who thought of David Firth
Twist, unemployed brendon was the villain of dhmis
the job place is an obvous reference to amazon- like corporations
Although the workplace stuff - sort of relatable
I found it interesting that yellow didn’t need brainwashing by the Care Hound and was just given a yellow hat right away. Maybe to imply that he’s already been adequately brainwashed already?
Not sure if it's been said but the vending machine is Comedian Phil Wang.
Thank you for introducing me to Elliott Smith
I seriously thought that like.
The token given to Duck at the end was gonna be a mainstay thing.
Like every episode, the character that either saves the day or learns the lesson the best at the end of the episode would receive a token.
Don’t ask me why, i just did.
It would have made sense given the lamp's speech in death.
its like in CZcams they have anxiety 24/7
and in the TV show they don't give a fuck anymore lmao
tainted Water? You mean ... coffee?
That was fun!
Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks Red Guy looks good in a business outfit
i liked the duck autotune
This whole show is just under stimulation then over stimulation over and over again with no brake
It's not a printer it's a fax machine
6:02 Digital style!
Welt on yellow guys back be like: yeaeb 😀
"OW MY HAND"
It might be a stretch, but is this supposed to link to yellow guy losing his hand later in the episode? Like what happened to yellow guy is actually what happend to Brendon? The suitcases are the actual petersons?
4:32 well the standards arent arbitrary. They have a product they are delivering and that product does not have a weird monster face on it. They are making bits and parts, not weird monster things.
I saw the fax machine as a kid friendly way to speak about sexual harassment and that it can be targeted by anyone (female/male)
