    Your videos and communications skills are excellent; making it easy for non-technical people to understand some of the finer issues. I have one question for you. Because there are some subtle differences between office Ethernet and automotive Ethernet, can “standard Ethernet” test equipment be used to measure performance on Automotive Ethernet networks? Thanks.

    • @IntrepidControlSystems
      @IntrepidControlSystems  Před rokem +1

      Hi Greg,
      I will let Colt know that you liked the video. It depends on the test. There might be tests specific to the "T1" PHYs that would not apply to "standard Ethernet", but things like latency, jitter, packet loss etc. would be measurable. You will need to use a media converter with the test hardware to connect the automotive PHYs and this will introduce latency that will throw off any time measurements of when a packet is sent or received by the test system. If you like to discuss more about this then please reach out to our expert at www.intrepidcs.com/sales

    one question here for 10BASE T1S ,if it is 10mbps and bus network and follows timing slots like flexray,what the advantage of Ethernet ?? same can be achieved by flexray also right??

    Thank you very much for this overview! I have a question: How is the full duplex communication archieved on the physical level?

    • @coltcorrea3075
      @coltcorrea3075 Před rokem +2

      A technical explanation on how Full-Duplex works only 2 wires is very complicated. Here is very brief summary from the Automotive Ethernet - The Definitive Guide book. "Within each device, each wire pair is interfaced with one transmit encoder and one receive decoder. These are connected to a hardware device called a hybrid, which isolates the data being transmitted and keeps it from interfering with the data being received. Additional circuitry is used to implement a technique called echo cancellation, which is necessary to eliminate reflections from transmitted signals that may come back to the source and be interpreted as having been sent by the other device."

      We actually answer this question our on our next video called In-Vehicle Networking Technologies Comparing - Automotive Ethernet, CAN-FD, LIN, FlexRay, SerDes, A2B etc. All this network gets used inside the car for different application. Does 'Automotive Ethernet - The Definitive Guide' contain any information on cybersecurity as it relates to Automotive Ethernet? Or are there any standards that discuss this topic? I've seen the ease of attacking CAN demonstrated many times. Sorry, I'm a novice in this space. Thank you.

    Why not fiber optic most networks instead of the of Ethernet

    • @coltcorrea3075
      @coltcorrea3075 Před rokem +3

      Fiber Optic cabling is significantly more expensive when compared to copper cabling. Additionally, most OEMs find servicing optical cabling at dealerships very difficult.
