    Just did this. Low beam lights both sides. Everything was pretty straightforward but it is not for a beginner mechanic... you need a bit of confidence. Drivers side; remove fuse box cover (I didnt have to remove the entire fuse box compartment, just the cover) NOTE: my new headlights came with the O-Ring already so be sure to remove the other O-Ring from the burnt out bulb or you will never get the light to turn in!
    Passenger side; There are 3 torque screws to remove the Air Filter assembly, and it definitely helps to remove the upper rubber intake foot to access the third torque screw. NOTE: Removing the plastic siding really helped with the removal of the Air Filter assembly... I could not get the filter out without removing the plastic siding...
    Good luck... and I cant believe you have to go through all of this just to remove a headlight bulb.

    If you changed out your bulbs because your low beams were dim(unsafe to drive dim), the bulbs aren’t the problem it is the coating on on the projectors. I changed my mothers 2015 low beams twice before I found out there’s a class action lawsuit for the headlight assembly letting too much moisture in and the coating burning off from high temperature.

    • @Carriedickerson22
      @Carriedickerson22 Před 2 lety +2

      That’s my problem so I’m curious is there a way to clean the actual projector?

    • @6atlantis
      @6atlantis Před 2 lety +1

      @@Carriedickerson22 no, the coating isn’t something fixable, you’d need to buy new housings. If you buy OEM housings switch to LED bulbs as they are cooler and won’t burn the coating all over again, or buy an aftermarket set and you can use any bulb you prefer. If your problem was with moisture there is a chance if the wire harnesses aren’t too corroded etc. that you could clean them up and reseal the housing with silicone.

    Thank You! Your video gave me the confidence to finally replace my 2015 SRX OEM Philips H11's. I had to use a short step ladder for the driver side, plus carefully used pliers to hold the connector while free hand inserted new bulb. Be aware the connector wiring is short. I also stuffed rags into sidewell in case I dropped bulb. I went with Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's. A few months ago I had my headlamp housings clouding buffed out and I was still unhappy with the degradation of output during night driving in Phoenix. After reading several websites, I'm curious what the lifespan will be with this product? I may turn off the headlights while driving during the day to help with longevity. I only drive at night for less than five to six total hours usually. I decided not to use LED's at this time as I was not convinced any product would work in the projector style housing (fan or fanless) without fitting issues or have a decent lifespan (poorly made). I'll update you in a few days(nights) after I get some night driving in.

    Lol u fast forwarded through the ONLY difficult part, removing that housing on passenger side. What is the trick to get it out once bolts are loose??

    • @elibaier
      @elibaier  Před rokem

      First make sure that all three bolts are out! After that it should have wiggle room. I just wiggled it back and forth while pulling up. Its a pain for sure!

    What he didn't know is that it's not the bulb that's the problem on these Cadillac.. he can put a bulb in that's 1,000 watts and will still have poor vision in that vehicle... It's the mirrored glass on the inside that makes the light reflect.. over time the hear from the bulb deteriorates the mirror like coating and this poor vision... Hey but thanks on thinking you were making a video that would solve the Cadillac headlight problem like 50 other ppl.. 🤔

    Cadillac headlights are compleat crap, I have moisture build up, and the regular beams at night look like I'm driving with no headlights at all. I hope Cadillac improves at least for the safety

    The videos that say to take out the whole grille are for replacing the actual headlight housing, not just replacing the bulbs like you are doing. Every video to replace the bulbs are done exactly like your video........ just replacing the bulbs. You are not saving anyone any time as no one is removing the grille to replace bulbs.

    This video is useless if trying to change the turning lightbulb on the driver’s side. It is annoying as *^}% that Cadillac made it so difficult to do it … you literally have to remove the entire front end of the car and the headlight assembly itself to do it. And if you have the car for some years be ready to do it a few times.

    • @elibaier
      @elibaier  Před 8 měsíci +1

      That is true... Unfortunately if you are trying to change those bulbs I do belive that you will have to pull out the entire head light assembly.. I haven't had to do it on my car yet, but probably one day...
