    If I had to keep one wheel it would be the Mten3. Most use this as a trick wheel, or for the kids, however its true gift is on the pavement at walking speed, you can go into shops, ride in crowds, put it in the locker at the gym, etc. Ride at 3-5mph and you can cover a whole city and still have 30% at least left. Do not underestimate the Mten3.

    Mten3 Absolutely one of my favorite wheels. So maneuverable and fun. I learned to ride backwards and do spins on this wheel. Can take a ton of abuse, but I don’t jump it. Not great for potholes or crappy pavement. Better for smooth pavement and parking lots. Fun on the short track.

    Thank you for the thorough review of the wheel and also for the comparison against the IPS i5! I'm still riding my i5 and have been keeping my eye on the MTen3 for a couple of years now wondering whether it would be a worthy upgrade. The i5 is still going but it is a very slow wheel. In that sense I was happily surprised by this video by how well it fits my situation! After watching this I'm still not 100% convinced on getting an Mten3 but continue keep an eye on it! Highly informative, thanks again!
    I did own a KS16X but sold it away as I found myself commuting more short distances. I kind of wish there was a "maturity upgrade" to the Mten3 or a brand new small wheel made of good materials, had more utilitarian design and decent performance. I really like the i5 but I feel IPS might have sacrificed too much performance (to my taste) by aiming for the slimmest EUC of the world. With the new bigger wheels ditching the RGB lighting and slowly moving away from the plasticky looks, becoming more serious methods of transportation, I'm hoping there will one day be something small, premium and powerful.

I already have an S18 and Master to cover medium and large, but there's literally nothing currently on the market that's super slim and under 20lbs. The 14-in wheel also helps to make it less squirrely than the Mten3. I believe solid state batteries will be helpful in introducing new smaller form factors. Can't wait.

    This is a niche EUC category that could very well convince me to add an EUC to my arsenal. My Onewheel isn't practical to carry everywhere. I wouldn't need high speed or power in the places I would want to take it. The drawbacks of this particular model plus my inexperience are enough to shy me away but I would love to see others if this particular niche gains enough attention to justify further production. Unfortunately, my inexperience with EUC's prevents me from giving any meaningful insight into what could be improved so I'll just have to wait on the good people of the community such as yourself Jimmy to let us all know when such a product exists. This video couldn't come at a better time as I just dusted off my MTen3 and began using it again. Some guys joked I was riding my Playstation 5 so I threw a black cover over it. Sure it's going to put the average Vet Sherman speed demon to sleep at a paltry 25mph, but hey there's a niche for this wheel. Commutes, sidewalk riding, tricks, kids, portability and just plain fun. Where are you going to find a PEV small enough to put into a backpack like that. It's so small and unnoticeable that people think I'm levitating off the ground as I float by them on the sidewalk. As for ride-ability I can't stand the soft setting and always ride with either medium or hard. No need for tilt back either as I will never ride that fast anyway and quite frankly, any sort of tilting really strains the ankles. I suspect this is also what makes it harder for some people to learn to ride. I won’t be going to Connecticut in this thing but I can make maybe a dozen short trips and still have some battery to boot. The downsides really are the very low center of gravity which does make it very tricky and then there’s the wobbliness I frequently get when I go up a bridge. I have no idea why it does that but if anybody knows, feel free to respond.

      Its great for that. And you just have to understand its limits like not torqueing it to accelerate, and it will treat you well. I sold my V8F because it didn't have a place in my collection with my bigger wheels, but the Mten3 definitely does. I think for most people riding it at 10-15mph is really safe and gives you like a 50% safety margin (use EUC World) so even if you hit a pothole or go up a hill you have more than enough there not to be any problem at all. I ride my other gotways at 20% safety margin. 15mph feels great on the mten3. And the wide tire makes it stable basically standing still. There is a lot of hate around here from inexperienced riders who call it wobbly or that it cutout on them because they pushed it too hard.

    I want this wheel for the compactness even though I've seen the warnings that the small tire and short design is harder to handle and not ideal for beginners. But seeing you as an experienced rider crash from a cutout on a nearly invisible divot in the road, I must ask... is that also a function of speed? If you went slow (under 10 mph) and hit the same hole, would you still have crashed? Once I learn to ride I just want a reliable commute, not going fast, and not to crash doing nothing crazy.

  • @RCDevotee

    Thanks for the video! I bought the 67v version and I am glad I went that direction. I have tried the 84v version and I can't really tell the difference aside from top speed. I never want to go above 15MPH on the MTen3 because it is so unstable above that. Consequently I didn't see any reason to opt for a more expensive version just to get more speed you shouldn't be pushing. I used to take the MTen3 to the gym as it fits in the locker easily but I hated how unstable the wheel feels if you are pushing 20MPH. I like just tooting around the park around people going pretty slow like I did with my Onewheel XR. It is a fun wheel but I really didn't enjoy bombing around San Francisco streets with it like I do with my EX.N.

      yes you would never notice the difference at 15mph unless you stepped on the acceleration

    Please tell me the make and model of the helmet you are wearing. A full face motorcycle helmet is too bulky and frankly weird looking, but bike/skateboard helmets have no chin protection. Yours seems like a pretty good compromise. Please tell me what it is.

      @@OWGAC I found it easier to learn on than a Ninebot One S2, as it was more stable at slower speeds. It does get a bit wobbly over 15mph, but once I get used to it (have to relearn after riding bigger wheels!), cruising at 20mph is relatively easy. Just keep your knees loose in case you hit bumps!!

      Sucks for you. The Mten3 is not as mindless to ride so maybe its good you dont get one. If you have an app running with safety margins and understand the power you draw from the motor, there is no reason you should end up on your face. You should understand that hitting a big hill at 20mph is a bad idea for your health. But nahhh lets just blame the small wheels.

    I owned one for a month. Super sketch to ride and mount. I prefer my V8 for a light weight wheel to keep in my truck. For fun I prefer riding my V11 or EX20. Not a trick rider.

    • @CrunchyTire
      @CrunchyTire Před rokem

      It is difficult to mount compared to a bigger wheel, but understand the problem is you and not the wheel. You can mount it smoothly and ride the wheel so its nice and stable. It gets annoying seeing some of the hate toward the wheel when it comes down to rider ability or the fact that they dont monitor power draw and understand its capabilities which lead to cutout. And they blame the wheel.
