Tell Mark to give this channel a shout out from his channel or have him drop a link. I watch his videos a lot but I think this is the first video I've seen from you pop up in my feed. Good stuff!
Great to see you posting your own vlogs Rory. YGT should encourage customers to subscribe to the channel by offering incentives like competition draws when holidays are purchased etc. Under Armour freebees etc. YGT deserves more publicity. One of my best vacations was with you guys, in Portugal, January 2018. Keep the vlogs coming!
All good ideas Bernard...it'll be my full time gig form April 1st so I'm sure there will be some developments over the coming months! Watch this space...
(Which courses did you play over in Portugal out of interest??)
I splashed out. Stayed in Vilamoura at the Anantara. Can recommend this hotel to all your clients. I've travelled extensively and I can sincerely say that the staff at this hotel treat you like "a king for a day", every day! 12 days of bliss. Its almost South Africa (Pezula) in terms of service. I played Victoria, Vale do Lobo Ocean, Quinta do Lago, North, South and Laranjal, The Old Course and the Milenium. My two favourites were The Old and Laranjal. Looking forward to seeing more vlogs from you. Good luck in your new role.
Both Saunton courses are something special. for someone who's never played there before, the vista upon arrival is breathtaking. The East course would certainly have to be lengthened and would probably need some additional fairway bunkering. For me Royal Porthcawl just pips it.
Great course - we sponsored Faldo in the day and I had the pleasure of picking him up from Sunningdale after European Open when he came 2nd to Langer. Drove him back to my house, got my clubs and drive to Staunton so with him fir 4 hours in my car, great courses and what a trip 👌
Royal Dornoch. Fantastic course and amazing setting
Great vid, love the vlogs. I would rather watch you four play than most golf on the television, majors excluded. Good fun, cheers.
Wallasey golf club , Wirral. Bobby jones the legend himself said it was his favourite course in England. We are blessed with some of the best links courses here on the Wirral peninsula.
Lee Mac Home of stableford
Yeh you guys have it good up there for sure!
I live in upstate NY. And when I think of a "real links course" this what I imagine. Looks beautiful.
Yep. It's a classic alright...great part of the country to find some old school gems!
Thanks for watching bruh.
Ray
Enjoyed the video Rory.....👍 New UA gear looks class too.....
Cheers brah. I'm loving the new gear too...comfy, top quality and pretty clean and simple IMO.
Thanks for watching!
Ray
Apparently fantastic fish and chips are in the nearby village/ town! Playing there later this year as I reasonably Yocal...
Fun video! Thanks for posting.
Cheers brah!
Seaford Head Golf Course in Sussex - amazing links style course and awesome views...
Royal Dornoch and north Berwick two great courses
Scotland has so many amazing courses eh? I NEED to play more golf up there...
Thanks for watching Darren!
Ray
Good seeing another perspective to the vlogs. Keep it up.
Cheers Jason...will do bruh!
Nice vlog Rory. Royal Porthcawl for me. Fantastic place and definitely worthy.
It's a brilliant course and has proved its ability to host big events with the Senior's Open...The Open on a much larger scale of course but would be good to see Wales get the spotlight at some point!
Thanks for watching brah.
Rory
Matt's Suggestion of Royal Porthcawl is a great one. Seniors did it last year. I went and I had big crowds and it coped well. Easy to get to and park and stuff. Epic venue.
Agreed Callum...brilliant course. I might have had an ace on the 4th there but I don't like to talk about it. ;-)
Your Golf Travel I was a scorer and walked up the 18th on Sunday with Watson and Couples. Easily biggest golf highlight of my life! It was amazing!
WOW! That sounds awesome Callum. Love a bit of Freddie Couples.
Your Golf Travel couldn't believe my luck when the admin tent on the morning said I had Watson and Couples for the day. Was truly amazing! Walking 18 holes in a Senior Major with those two. Unbelievable!
Royal County Down! I fully agree Rory, played it a number of times, it’s terrific!
Can't wait to play it later this year...been high on my bucketlist for ages now!
Bring 2 dozen balls if its windy.
LOL...I never go anywhere without 2 dozen balls Gary! ;-)
Lossiemouth Old Moray , great links ...what a finish
Hmmm...never heard of it...heading to Google now to have a look!
Cheers for watching Iain.
Rory
I played Old Moray years ago (Tain was not bad either) and it is a real beauty, although I would prefer Royal Dornoch
Great little video can't wait to see the vlog
Cheers Timothy...you might have to wait a while...plenty more to come from Turkey first I think! Not that that's a bad thing...
Go to the Netherlands, Noordwijk is one of the best courses on the mainland! Do just like the Tour de France and the Giro:)
Your Golf Travel, you know there is an Old Tom Morris Championship Links course on the Isle of Man. You should go to check it out, IOM is nice place for a golf trip!!!!
Castletown Golf Links
Looks fantastic! Few of the guys in he office have played it and loved the place!
Proper Hidden Gem like, god help you if the wind is up though :)
Great content Rory, keep up theGood work!
Cheers Paul...glad you're enjoying them bruh!
Rory
Nice Vlog Rory! Keep it up!
Thanks bruh...will do!
Good stuff Rory..def adding Saunton to the list this year...looks amaze!
You know where to come if you need some help hooking up the trip brah!
Drop me an email at raymondo@yourgolftravel.com if you need any more info...
Thanks for watching!
Ray
Great stuff mate, theres just so many amazing courses in the UK it would be great if they moved about more.
I agree. I love The Open the way it is, but would be great to #SpreadTheLove with the power of hosting the event benefitting more areas / courses / people.
Thanks for watching Derek,
Ray
Not played Dornoch but from the comments it looks like a winner! Hillside was in very good condition when I played it but for me I would love to see the Open at Royal St David’s - bring a bit of Open magic to North Wales.
good to hear your coming over here later in the year to play royal co down - if youve time you should pop down to Lough Erne as well
Our itinerary is set already brah...RCD our only course in Northern Ireland. Lough Erne definitely on the list though...that place looks stunning!
I agree spread the love...😊
I agree that they should spread the love. I’d suggest North Norfolk. Either Hunstanton or Royal West Norfolk (Brancaster).
All look pretty tasty Mark!
Best course to never host the open + best winter course for me is Goswick. Phenomenal track. Played it last feb, and it was rock hard.
Royal Dornoch a close second, but it doesn’t have much character, especially compared to Goswick. Even though it’s probably a better track.
Honourable mention for best winter courses, Fortrose and Rosemarkie and Seaton Carew.
Would love to play both! Dornoch getting a lot of love in this comments section!
Panmure . Played it in 30mph wind it was a brute . Classic out and back links. A bit overshadowed by Carnoustie next door. Which I also played and is my favourite open venue of the ones I've played.
Really like Saunton, been to their open week a couple of times. Great value for money. Royal Dornoch, inland Sunningdale or Woodhall spa
Sunningdale and Woodhall Spa both world class...not sure how I feel about The Open not being hosted on a classic links course though. Food for thought...
Gutted I live around the corner from saunton I would of liked to come and say hello thanks for mentioning Ilfracombe great blog
Thanks Steve. Glad you enjoyed the video brah!
Ray
Love RND too Rory!!!!
It's bonkers in places but such a fun course and one of the friendliest clubs I've been to from all my experiences there. Can't wait to go back again some day. Love the place.
I will be there for my annual pilgrimage in May..... Hopefully will get to go to Saunton this year too!!!
Lovely video Rory(Ray),keep up the editing brahhh
Cheers brah. Will keep trying to get better. Video will be my full time gig at YGT from April 1st so plenty more to come!
Your Golf Travel absolutely look forward to that! Hope that means that there is going to be more frequent videos! #7
It surely does. I have the green light to say no to anyone asking for help outside of making videos. ;-) (Joking...I'm a team player really.)
I'd like to see some of our great parkland courses given the open
Great vlog
Keep up the good work
Hmmm...not sure how I feel about that. We have some amazing courses inland for sure but I think part of what makes The Open special is a rare foray onto the links for the top boys.
Thanks re the vlog and for watching Charles!
Ray
Your Golf Travel
Yes good.point the top pro's don't play links very much.
Sheringham in Norfolk is a great links also Perranporth is a top links as well.
Any good deals on trips to Turkey 2019??
Dornoch or North Berwick in Scotland, Royal Porthcawl in Wales, Royal county down in N Ireland, if Eire could be in, ( if only) Ballybunion, Killarney Tralee, West Lancs or Ganton in England
Great video Rory, well done.
As I’m from the other side of the world, I’m not sure, but a larger roster of courses would be awesome for us to see more of the most amazing Links courses in the UK & Ireland
Loved the little bit of history in the clubhouse.
Cheers Raymond...if you're ever looking to play some links golf the tour me and Dan chatted about would be right up your street history wise. Saunton West & East + Royal North Devon just down the road...the clubhouse there is like a golfing museum!
Thanks for watching brah.
Rory
As much as I love Rob's comment (Dawlish member). Saunton is wonderful but, and I know Russell's gonna kick me, the best links course in the country, without a doubt, is Royal Dornoch
Such a popular choice!
Ganton and Goswick are class, but I don't think that would test the big boys. But I am looking forward to Devon this July, staying in Woolacombe for 2 weeks.Planning to play Saunton and a few others there so I'll have a better insight on your question Rory. Great vlog, I enjoy your take on things. Any tips for where to play when I visit in July ? Cheers bruh
Festival week at Staunton is great. Think i am right in saying all club comps are Opens too. Superb courses but Royal Dornoch for me.
St Enodoc rocked. If it was pro proof it would be a good open venue.
Agreed, move it around more, start to create new heritage and history. Would also bring new investment into the club's, more golf tourism and create more buzz.
I've only ever played once in the UK, and that was my 1st ever round, but that course you guys played in North Devon/Somerset when you couldn't go to the planned one in South Wales looked great and the links course in Kent you also played (but I think it hosted it once back in the 50's?) recently, looked pretty damn good.
Keep it up Rory, do really like these 'background' vlogs and you, Dan, Mark and Coach have it absolutely sorted- perfect team now, The addition of Dan and his flat cap, Werthers originals and 'Uncle Dan' references completes it.
Oh yeah.....#17chippinggod lol
Cheers Mark...give me a shout at raymondo@yourgolftravel.com if you ever want to pop back for some links golf in the UK!
Any of the courses you mentioned above are well worth a visit and we have so many more amazing layouts too!
Cheers re the vlogs...I see them as a work in progress but glad you enjoy the current fourball. More to come bruh!
Ray
Royal Dornoch
Played it today. WOW.
Wow jealous...seems to be the most popular choice in this comments section. Sounds like I need to go film a vlog there!
Thanks for watching William.
Rory
Def Royal Dornoch awesome course. The second is a monstrous par three. Not long but you can make a huge number if you miss the green.
So much love for Dornoch here...
*Submits request to sales agent to book tee time later this year
**Books annual leave
;-)
If the R&A is responsible to grow the game then they should be changing/expanding where they play The Open. I always see the young children watching the game live and getting excited because it was near them and they can relate to the players on the courses in their area.
#SpreadTheLove
Another great video Rory unfortunately I don’t have much of an opinion being from the states. When can we buy some of that YGT under armour gear? 😁
You'll just need to come over and get some links golf under your belt then bruh! ;-)
Unfortunately we don't have something set up with UA. I do get a lot of requests though so maybe something for the future.
Here's the important question though...would you get the Thin Bullet logo on the sleeve too??? ;-)
I think 🤔 mark is right new courses would be great for the open, I really like the look of the one where you guys did the Xmas vlogs not sure what it is called
Royal Cinque Ports...brilliant course which actually hosted The Open way back in the day. Would be interesting to see it return someday...that course certainly has the teeth to test the big boys!
great vid great ? - no suggestions as I have only played one course in England and it was in London and parkland :)
Need to get you back over for some proper links golf bruh!
Wentworth Burma Road!
Royal porthcawl for me 👌🏽
Brilliant golf courses...got a hole in one there but don't like to talk about it. (Hake goujons in the clubhouse are epic too! ;-) )
Watching your Wales tour some of those courses look great and Wales should hold the Open sometime (not Celtic manor though) ⛳️🏌️
Agreed Chris...there are some pretty stunning courses in Wales for sure!
Did you see these videos? czcams.com/video/C9uQ0_R0vic/video.html&t=
Please ignore my hair...but some cracking shots from some amazing courses!
Here in the States there are some great courses to choose from to play. But id love to play some of the courses you have to choose from. #oneofthesedays
You know where to come brah...drop me an email at raymondo@yourgolftravel.com if you ever want to discuss.
We love having you guys from the States over to try our courses...different ball game on the links courses over here!
Thanks for watching,
Ray
Royal Dornoch. Hands down. Discussion over. If they had the infrastructure, they would no doubt be in the rotation. Played it 3 times and I’m just a guy from Texas who was smart enough to marry a Scottish lass!!
Silloth for me ,great links course in cumbria.
Such an underrated course as most pass it by on the way to Scotland
sorry Rory i dont know many courses in the UK other than the ones you vlog from, but i did notice they are sporting your favorite golf ball of choice.. #Srixon.. cheers bruh. there is still time to meet up after the Augusta trip in Pinehurst... par 3 challenge , just saying.
Dornoch
North Berwick
Dundonald
Dornoch for me, always told its never been a venue simply due to no hotels and tiny town i.e. cant handle the crowds
Yup...that's an issue faced by a lot of outstanding courses. Shame but it is what it is I guess.
Kingsbarns, Hillside, S&A,
Royal st David's, best links course in Britain. Pitty the infrastructure isnt there but its hosted the senior's, best for me its the best and toughest....great lunks course
Agreed...I didn't get to play the hole course when I visited but the bits I saw were brilliant. What a setting.
Sunningdale New
Silloth is such a good course
Hi raymondo are you guys playing any courses in ireland this year great vlogs keep em coming david
Saunton east , Royal Dornoch , Ballybunion
Paul Leary 3 great choices...
Yes, yes and hmmm...not sure The Open will ever head to the Republic of Ireland as much as it would be a huge success. Ballybunion is a truly magical course though you're right on that one...maybe an Irish Open host in the near future??
I would say Royal Dornoch but probably won’t due to the lack of accommodation around it even though it’s only an hour or so from inverness, the other reason it won’t I think I’ve hard lack of spectator space and grandstand space. Or Nairn always ranked in the uk top 10 it’s hosted Walker cup comps so why not the open.
Prince's gets my vote!
hillside pal 👍⛳
I've only played Trevose and St Mellion in the SW but 100% The Open should look there if it's opening the rota. One of the key obligations of the R&A is to encourage new people to the game and the population of the SW doesn't really have access to pro events at all. London and the SE have St George's, Wentworth, The Grove and this year Walton Heath. The Midlands can travel to the NW for Birkdale, Hoylake and Lytham or get to London easily enough and the North and Scotland have the lions share if Open venues. The closest the SW gets is a 4hr drive to The Grove, Wentworth or Walton Heath or a weekend away which is hardly access to the pro game. Tourism is also already in place but maybe sorting those A roads out might help with the traffic! Porthcawl might also tick the boxes geographically as it would again encourage the game in areas without access to seeing events.
And I live on the SE so would be as likely to travel to The Open in the SW as I would in the NE
Thanks for the post Steven...great points and I agree on all fronts. Let's bring this great game and it's best players to as many corners of the UK as possible!
Thanks for watching bruh...
Rory
Your Golf Travel Speaking of golfing in all corners, my club, Hever Castle GC in Kent, might be of interest for YGT. We were a stand alone GC next to the historic Hever Castle but are now part of the Hever Estate so have 27 holes, hotel at the course, hotel at the castle, excellent stand alone restaurant at the course hotel plus the clubhouse catering and castle catering. As there hasn't been much of a relationship before between golf club, hotel/restaurant and castle there is no promotion whatsoever for golf weekends. I'm not sure how these things work but it might fit YGT's criteria as a suitable place to market, maybe even to golf/non golf parties as we seem to get a lot of older couples staying where one spends the day playing golf with the non golfer in the buggy then they spend the following day exploring the castle which is an exceptionally good day out alone.
Thought it might be worth mentioning in case you can explore it before they get their act together or another agent swoops in!
Keep up the great vids and you're editing's getting sharper - love the varied speed flop shot, haven't seen that done on any other golf video!
Cheers brah...trying to get better as I go so glad it's getting noticed!
Royal Dornoch...the par 3s are as good as any on the open rota.
Seems to be a really popular choice...desperate to play there myself!
Thanks for watching brah,
Rory
This country is fixated on the history of a venue rather than developing the history of the event, how many Links courses are there in this country & they use but a few, Mark is right move it around & share the love.
I appreciate both history and the need to create it too. I agree spread the love...that doesn't mean not playing the current Open rota courses moving forward...just perhaps more sparingly?
Thanks for watching Sean!
Ray
I’m not sure but I think a British open should be a links course or it will just become like all the other tournaments during the year. Keep it true British links!
Agreed. It's part of what makes the event so special!
Painswick or Cotswold edge :D
Bombing it 70 miles an hour plus...70 miles an hour tops ✌🏻
Tops bruh. ;-)
Dornoch for me
Great shout...never played it but ALWAYS hear great things about the place...one for the future for sure!
Thanks for watching Russell.
Ray.
GetUpDan has been a fan since the first Open Championship in 1860, so I got to think he would know which course is the best.
Brilliant! ;-) I think he invented The Open now that you come to mention it!
I see your number plate is all ready for when you get your handicap down another shot #6 👍🏻
Hmmm...as you'll see soon in the Turkey vlogs...SERIOUS work required for that to even be a remote possibility.
thanks! if not Spain or Portugal this summer, why not Great Brittain? But then, where? Devon seems to be nice...
Plenty of options Harry! Drop me a line at raymondo@yourgolftravel.com if you ever want to discuss ideas bruh!
Cheers,
Ray
sure Ray! not much experience in GB. played celtic manor and a few courses around Derby, but from Holland getting to the south of England is easier. Looking at your adventures in Hardelot now. playing there in may
You'll love it bruh. Great spot for some golf. Definitely give me a shout if you're heading to the UK...South England has more than its fair share of amazing courses.
Im on the Dornoch bus as well
Seems to be a popular choice!
Will have to check out the course in the future for sure.
Thanks for watching Robin.
Ray
Not sure I agree with Marc on this one, The Open is such a great event because it goes to the courses it goes too... Look at Chambers Bay as an example of a course which was not ready to host a Major!
I live in Belgium, fancy a golf trip here?
Royal Ivybridge
Buggy time questions!
Got to try and be efficient. Between filming the main course vlog, posting on social and trying not to get in the way of paying customers buggy time is the best place to get some opinions off the boys!
royal dornoch played it a couple of years ago cracking course or on a selfish note silloth then I haven't got far to travel.
Haha yes please...roll out of bed and head to The Open...sounds good to me!
I know it’s a technicality but Northern Ireland isn’t in Great Britain (its the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) so how is the ‘British’ Open being played there? On the Best course I’d have to say Rye even if it is way too short.
It is the Open, which is just as well, as Scotland wont be in GB soon either.
MyCharlesgreen If they gave England the vote, Scotland would definitely be out.
I would have to pick Gleneagles GC
Would be interesting to see The Open head to a venue like Gleneagles. Hmmm...I do think that playing links courses is part of what makes The Open special though.
Food for thought...
Getting to Dornoch is a nightmare though
Yeh infrastructure is a big stumbling block for some amazing golf courses re hosting a major event.
Having said that, some on The Open rota aren't exactly easy to get to.
I'm on Mark's train of thought...spread the love!
Thanks for watching Robin,
Ray
I grew up in Devon and played Saunton as a junior so great memories from there. BUT RORY !!!!! YOU NEED TO SQUARE UP YOUR BACK FOOT AT ADDRESS. Seriously - it will reduce your over swing on the way back becuase it will feel more restricted turning back and keep the club much more in front of you so you wont get the club stuck behind you and hit those god alful push cuts. PLEASE TRY IT - you can thank me later brah !
Spey valley in aviemore for sure should host it
They'd never take it to Parkland course
Royal County Down is a better course than Royal Portrush but having been to Irish Opens at both, Portrush is much better for spectators which is probably why it was chosen to host the Open.
Interesting input Peter...certainly something the R&A have to think about when selecting host venues!
Portrush was chosen for the Open because Darren Clarke pushed hard for it when he won at St. Georges
Try using WAZE an sat nav app for your phone
Good idea...Google Maps playing up A LOT for me recently...very annoying.
I wasn't a fan of links courses until we played nefyn
St. Enodoc. Bliss.
Agreed...fantastic golf course!
Pick RND or Burnham and Berrow
Littlestone is a great golf course
Rory off subject but how difficult was trump international?
Extremely...but remember we film all course vlogs off the back tees to keep consistency. If I went back with my mates for a social game there's no way I'd play it from those tees...250 yard carry just to reach the fairway on 18!
I'd be teeing it forward all day long, from where it would be tough, but not in the extreme.
Superb course nonetheless...breathtaking in places!
Cruden Bay or Royal County Down
I agree with Rory, after Portrush, Royal County Down should go on open rota as well !!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait to play the course...granted I'll lose a tonne of balls and embarrass myself off the back tees but excited to play it nonetheless! ;-)
Should always be links
Hillside
St Enodoc
LOVED St Enodoc bruh. What a golf course. Presumably you've seen the Xmas Special we filmed there??
Ganton would be great
One of Lee Westwood's favourites! I need to go check it out...
Thanks for watching brah!
Rory
Your Golf Travel It is a fantastic course and would be great for you and the lads to play! Make sure you avoid the numerous bunkers and bring a few spare balls 😂😂
Keep up the great work Rory, the editing is getting better video by video
Thanks Jonathan appreciate the feedback. Glad you're enjoying the videos bruh!
