    Pickup trucks and station wagons.
    I love 'em both.
I don't know why they ever made anything else.

A good wash job and cleaning is the best way to start it coming back to life, a mechanic once told me he liked to work on my vehicles because I wash my motor almost every time I bathe my cars and trucks. Keep them coming bro !

I had one of these V8 Fairmont wagons in 1978? Same color (light jade glow?) as the car in this video. Was a company car. Ordered it thru local Ford dealer.

Awesome! That was a popular color of the era for Fords. I see it on LTD II's, F series trucks, etc. It really pops even more on the vehicles with a matching jade interior!

I can honestly say, I can't remember the last time I saw one. Definitely an Oddball. Very unusual. Probably pretty rare 2.

My Aunt and Uncle bought one new. White with woodgrain on the side. power everything tilt cruise bought thru Montgomery Ward Discount, My Aunt ordered it with what she wanted on it. Vinyl Seats 6 Cylinder just a Falcon underneath as far as I'm concerned the car they traded in they had bought new also a 71 2 Door Sedan Pinto, given the bad rap the car got it actually was good the 9 years they had it. No idea how many miles on it since the odometer messed up 2 years in. 4 speed, they had it 9 years before they traded it for the Fairmont.

Can tell that Fairmont was made since 1978 as it has the orange turn signal lights on the front. It would be a 1979 to 1981 model.

We bought a '78 Fairmont brand new in '78. At the time, it was a fresh, modern-looking car with good lines, and I still think so today. It was trouble-free for years, until we started having trouble with the myriad of vacuum lines under the hood.

I'm pretty sure that'll buff out! ;-) It will be interesting to see what you do with it. If someone did buy it, I hope they'll do a total rebuild on it and show it here. That 302 will be wheezy, but could be put to good use with a mild rebuild and the suspension could easily be tightened up a notch or two to make it a more modern feeling classic.

The back number plate surround with lights on that beast , where used in the Australian 1979 / 1987 ford xd, xe 's falcons fairmonts ! Must have been left overs from your ford factory ,how many other leftovers where sent to ford Australia to use up on other models ! Just like Mr ford used the packing boxes from the T models ( motor and chassis's) he sent to Australia for floor boards in them .

I used to have a 1980 Fairmont station wagon. That car was haunted. A retired cop had committed suicide in it in the back seat.at a Walmart parking lot. Many times I would see a human figure in my rear view mirror

Nice reference to Malaise..... that was a good reason for the development of the Fairmont/Futura..😆 Things only got worse after Jimmy Carter’s speech in 1979 tried to put things in perspective..... not a positive one.
This was not any answer to the second energy crisis....just a soggy wet blanket.
Love the fact that these had V-8s optional.
I remember these days with very mixed emotions.💸🛢💸🛢

OMG, I didn't know some of these cars had v-8 engines, I've known relatives and friends, and myself, whos owned these types Ford/MERCURY vehicles up to 1982, NONE OF THEM HAD V-8S, ALL OF THEM HAD 4 & 6 BANGERS engines, and BOTH HAD AUTO/ AND MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS.
My 1982 4DR MERCURY COUGAR CAME OUT WITH A 3.8 V-6 ENGINE, w, auto. (IT WAS NOT THE COUGAR XR7) I sure loved the 2 dr MERCURY ZEPHYR, 2 TONED BLACK & SILVER, MY GODMOTHER HAD ONE, it was just gourgous😚😘, TILL HER SON GOT RID OF IT, IT WAS EQUIPT WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION, 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭, F***, I WOULDA BOUGHT IT FROM HER. 😊✌️👍

I drove a 1980 Fairmont in college. It had the 2.3L 4 cylinder. Adequate power for the Pintos they originally were built for, but the Fairmonts were heavier and that was a lot of car for a little 4 cylinder to move around...

The spot welds cracked where the center of the wheel attached to the rim and I had to replace all 4 wheels 78 Futura. Newer wheels are spot welded and welded don't crack.

Thanks for your interest. I have it on Marketplace for $2000. I have had it running. It had a cracked carburetor body from the fuel filter being crossthreaded and overtightened. I would imagine that the rest of the engine and transmission were probably OK when it was parked. Let me know if you want to get together on it
