LSV's deck list: www.channelfireball.com/videos...
Match 1: 02:07
Match 2: 21:24
Match 3: 36:46 - Hry
*writes an article ranking the basic lands*
*asks not to be judged for having non-matching Wastelands*
You get to pick one, Luis.
The paranoia about Ballista against shops when he had Null Rod on board was pretty hilarious. Looked like PTSD.
LSV back making Vintage CFB videos, today is a great day.
Ronaldinho183 yes we been waiting for non standard stuff from him its here
Totally agree
57:27 Open Fire confirmed Vintage playable
I've never watched an LSV video I didn't love.
Best player by far. Super informative
Just an aside: my favorite flavor text of all time is Phyrexian Negator. But yeah, Null Rod's flavor text is in the hall of fame, for sure. Thanks for the video, LSV!
"Delver of Secrets, the one mana 3/2 flier." Thanks for that LSV.
I was like "why is lsv so paranoid about mentor". then i realized, vid was probably recorded a year ago. FeelsBadMan
Bro, Its probably because Mentor is just absurd. And with so many draw spells like ponder brainstorm ancestral etc. It's not too difficult to find and kill with a 1 of.
LSV playing Magic + Vintage = Great Moments!
That Shops game was so awesome.
Makes me want to play magic again, I love LSV so much :)
THE judger of landbases doesn't want to be judged on off brand Wasteland? Consider yourself judged 😁
the land base of this deck sucks. Apart from what you've mentioned.
"Wow, I'm getting owned."
Now THAT'S a phrase I haven't heard in a very long time
Sweet! More vintage!
Wow, that delver just did not want to flip.
The video can't be that old, it has a By Force in it from Amonkhet. But yeah, one opponent had multiple Mentors.. Got me confused...
NOTE: last opponent had Abrade, that's HOU. So I don't get how in the world one dude had multiple Mentors..
It was recorded after HOU but before the banning. That's all
The banning just feel a lot longer to me :p time flies I guess
That game vs workshops you didn't have to worry about ballista because of null rod.
But if you wasteland academie. He has no mana to activate the factories right? well he can activate only 1.
Love the Video! Thank you sir.
In the third match, the second game I was really biting my nails. I believe you should've used Jace +1 on their delver, because if they flip it with you on three that's kinda bad. You had the ground locked up, but the air was a good way to attack you.
Bonus Question:
This has been bugging me for a while. Is pizza a burrito or a sandwitch?
is a burrito a sandwich?
Pretty insane the amount of games where your only mana is moxes, and you have Null Rod.
Anyone else would've brought in By Force against Paradoxical match one?
4:30 why not misstep instead of fow?
lsv, i never once thought i'd have to say language!
Whatever your doing with LandStill.... PLEASE make that a video :)
At 4:40 Why use Force and not Mistep as the second counter, isn't a second card in hand better than 1 life?
Oh, nvm they targeted the Spell Pierce not you Misstep with their Force.
Had to listen to 45:37 three times to be sure I didn't hear what I thought I heard.
And there is me wonder whyy the opponent can play 2 Monastery Mentor, until I realize the video is from 2017...
"Dack into action" hahah keep your pants on LSV
Galarga?
I like the 2nd game
where he has 1 island the whole game
52:42 You should have targeted Delver with the Jace activation. I'm very surprised you didn't to be honest.
Can someone explain null rods flavor text to me? I just don't get it.
Gerrard: "But it doesn't do anything!"
Hanna: "No-it does nothing."
Infectedstyles do you think I didn't know that was an option available to me? If I asked the comments that means I didn't care enough to Google it. Telling me to Google it is like telling me to drink water when I said I'm thirsty.
"No, you just _do_ not get it."
you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means
Suppose you had a machine that made empty space by removing objects. You might say that machine "does" (makes) nothing.
tfw you have 25 mana on turn two but die to a sulfur elemental
50:00 i am so confused why you didn't play your lotus for tokens???????????
Lotus doesn't make tokens for Young Pyromancer
Funtimes!
He couldn't get Sapphire in the final game with Trinket Mage because you countered it at the very beginning of that game. Still should have gotten Lotus I think.
Do you own a paper vintage deck
Dude, LSV is Vintage.
i have never heard LSV swear before lol.
45:38
"off like a dismember or something" and you still haven't!
LSV Alpha Vintage Delver O Great Denver #FloppyTaco
Because what I think Dack does is... get Mana Drained... lol.
Metal misstep
Come on, LSV! Phyrexian Metamorph copying Delver can’t flip! Copies of double-faced cards aren’t double-faced and ignore any instructions to transform.
lsv
this is a amazing example of why vintage is the best format its more then just a million power 9 that auto win its a powerful and amazing puzzle for you to solve.
can someone tell me why Mentor is restricted and not Young Peezy? Is the prowess *that* good? Is white better than red in vintage? Is the difference between 2 and 3 mana smaller in vintage?
Darien W difference is the moxen, you get tokens off of your mana sources with mentors.
Mentor prowess triggers off of artifact cards like moxen and lotus as well as instant/sorceries meaning you can jam them for free in nearly every blue based vintage deck. Artifact mana also helps you bomb out mentor faster than in other formats, negating its 3 cmc and letting you get it online faster. In comparison to Pyro, base Mentor triggers off everything, where as pyro does not benefit from the vintage artifacts. The monk token also has the same prowess trigger as its creator, allowing it to "fit in" just like the Mentor, with zero deck alteration. Each of these monk tokens is also a much larger threat than a young pyro token because of the added prowess.
Basically, every time you could get a 1/1 from pyro, you could instead get a 1/1 monk that turns into a X/X on the next turn, as well as giving one (or many) of your own creatures +X/X on that turn. To top it off, the mentor also triggered (basically) whenever a non-land card was played in vintage, as opposed to pyro, which received no benefit from artifacts and planes-walkers.
the fact that mentor has prowess and the tokens have it as well, makes it a much better card
EDIT: Also pyro just triggers on instant and sorcery
Yeah, and also if you get 2 or 3 prowess tokens, even without the Mentor they are threats.
Mentor is basically (Young Pyromancer)² that's not even taking into account that Mentor triggers off of all noncreature spells.
When bolt becomes open fire...
@21:23 99% of all magic players hahahahahaha
@30:30 he concedes and lsv says didnt think i was winning that one
I enjoyed this but damn I don't want to hear your tongue clicking and all those other mouth sounds. Can you invest in a pop filter and move the mic away a bit please
You can misstep chalice on 1.
no, the chalice would have mana cost of 2
No you can't
32 people play vintage, why make a video for it?
Aaron Hooker because for all the rest of us that can't afford to play it it can still be interesting to watch from afar, wishing we had the luxury car's worth of money to play the format.
Because vintage is the second best format in magic.
Aaron Hooker 32 is a little generous, don't you think?
Vintage is actually cheaper than Legacy online.
Online this deck costs less than a tier 1 modern deck does in paper.
