In real life no one would be happy about a play written revolving their own life and their own business without their consent- even if it was a good play.
That's right a relative did something like this and everyone burned her book, banned her from family's events and many people dont speak to her anymore.
Then maybe they shouldnât send their kids to a school who puts on a play like this. Itâs one thing for Lexi to make the script and publish it on her own using the Internet or something. Itâs another for adults and faculty to say âyup sure go ahead and have total creative control, we will see what you come up with opening night - and we will not interfere even if the play is hurtful to studentsâ
What's worse is that this is even normalized lmao. Some people here root for this kind of humiliation, not trying to put their shoes in this kind of situation. What kind of right does Lexi have anyway? Doesnt matter if the writer and character are both very close, it's still VERY disrespectful and disgusting if it's not consented.
the worst part is that it's called "our life" yet we dont see almost anything from what everyone else have done, she just added nate because she knew it would hurt cassie, it was just created to humiliate her sister that has never done anything to her, weird aff
@@pieckfinger7169 thats what ive been thinking ALL THE TIME idgaf what Cassie did, what Lexi did is fucked up either way, and ik for sure if Lexi did it to me id beat the shit out of her, and Cassies reaction was justified.. I meanâŠ.even Kat and Maddy arenât laughing at Cassieâs character in the play, thatâs saying something.
And even Nate felt bad for Cassie.
Maddy didnât mind it later on.
Because they know Cassie more than Lexi does so even when they have beef with her they with her past trauma and also Maddy knows her real karma is being stuck with Nate.
I was waiting for that one , thank you! đđ
It just goes to show how Maddy was so appreciative of Cassie. When you think about it, Maddy is one of the few people who respected Cassie, along with her mom.
The differences between Rueâs description of what Cassie went through during puberty vs Lexiâs in the play was what made me realize that this is Lexiâs revenge. Sure she probably didnât see what it was like for Cassie, but the way she treated that particular moment as a joke sealed the deal. A writer would have pondered the possibilities of what Cassie might have struggled with. Lexi treated Cassieâs uncomfortable feelings as a joke.
Damn youâre literally so right, I was trying to think of why this scene rubbed me the wrong way and now I get it. It was so insensitive.
I mean I would say thatâs true but in the actual scene in season one Cassie wasnât actually upset, she was making a joke too
That shows us that everyone has flaws. Even your most favourite person lol
Lexi is making herself the joke here though? I dont think making a play about people without their knowing is very fair in any circumstance, but she literally explains how she has been jealous of her sister and then plays jokes on her own experiences as Cassies sister... I sincerely felt the sister relationship in this, where Lexi showed all of her feelings towards Cassie- Jealousy, admiration, love etc, it wasnt all revenge, I genuinely think she was sincere when she talked to Fez about people liking her play.
The reason why Cassie didnt like the play was because her own self image is shattered. Where Lexi admires her qualities, Cassie hates those same qualities. Lexi wants to feel and be as liberated as she feels Cassie is, while Cassie wants to be innocent and romantic (like Juliet, Romeo and juliet)
Thats how i feel about it anyway.Lexi sees the positives where Cassie sees the negatives
@@sofie6524 yessss!!! I totally agreee!!!!!! Thank you for this!

This particular part of the play was about blaming Cassie for developing a lot earlier than her and being sexualized for it. This was cruel
Agreed. Lexi resents Cassie for caring too much about herself and her looks and not paying her sister any attention when she needed it, but Lexi herself is too caught up in insecurity and jealousy to see how Cassie suffered for the way she looked. Sheâs not better than Cassie, as far as being a sister goes.
Actually sheâs worse since she write and produced a whole play dragging her sister most of all.
@@malinasworld nahh your trippin. cassie is horrible in all shapes and forms. friend, sister, daughter and girlfriend. cassie always made jabs at lexi for the way she looks and how she acts (being passive and shy), cassie destroyed her relationships around her for a boy who was abusive and psychotic to her ex bf. she always only cared about herself and the male gaze, she will do anything for male validation even if it destroys the people around her. her morals are corrupt and selfish. she deserved it.
@@roro13021 you never actually see her be terrible to her sister, not truly terrible, sheâs mostly just uninvolved, which is completely normal for teenagers, and a horrible daughter? their mother might seem all cool and fun, but cool mums will always look that way, especially the alcoholic one, to everyone but their children at least, the ones who have to deal with cleaning up after them when theyâre too intoxicated, the ones who have to learn how to cook when they should be watching cartoonsâŠ, Cassie and Lexis mum is funny, Iâll give her that, and she clearly cares, but sheâs not so shit hot, wonât even touch on their fathers issues, the only ones whoâs truly hurt by her actions are McKay and Maddy, sheâs really the only person sheâs actively doing wrong by right now too, Lexi was out of line and it wasnât her place to share vulnerable parts of Cassie that way, even if Cassie is acting terrible, if the audience didnât know what Cassie had done, what Lexi did in her play would be seen for what it is, cruel.

As someone who has big breast being sexualized during puberty does not give one a great self image. All it does is make things worse.

No fr, it's you being a kid and people robbing you of your innocence because you develop curves. There's nothing funny about that. Young girls coming of age into teenagehood isn't easy at all. Okay, I'm going to call it. I like Lexi. A lot. But what she did wasn't play writing, it was venting. It was a little bit of a revenge. No imagination was involved just unloading. Some people needed it, others not so much. That's what I think.
Edit- I understand vending can be a form of writing, of course, but what I meant is I donât think of it ethical in her case. Usually people that write and expose real individuals and events take permission to tell the story especially when the individuals are still alive. Legally speaking, those teens (and their parents) have a case if they want to take it to court. The school would be in trouble, too, if any school would ever approve such play. I donât say this because I dislike Lexi or anything, itâs facts. Iâm in the industry and know one or two things about such cases. She may have changed their names however, in every other aspect these characters are the same.
Its her telling her life story honestly some plays are just that. But yes a great deal of it was her putting herself as the main character not the viewer
who cares? she ate them up
Couldn't agree more. Gosh, the acting in this series is really good but the writing is just mediocre and all over the place.
yep. nobody likes cassie which means theyâre gonna completely ignore how disrespectful this was to everyone involved. except her - the star, and only actual âgood guyâ in the play. cassie was right - sheâs never lived her life, has been jealous of cassie, and is taking it out on her by humiliating her in front of all their peers. as well as her friends. lexi is kind of a shit person for that.
She's definitely not as great as people say she is
i really liked lexi's play but i felt like it was more of a revenge fantasy? specifically towards her sister, and you can dismiss cassies feelings because of her actions if you want (most people do this anyways) but idk lexi isn't as great as everyone makes her out to be.
If anything it makes lexi's character even more loveable. I personally love how they show her edges
I like Lexi, but I agree, this whole play was kind of disrespectful of her.
@@user-nd8tb4dd8g Not as disrespectful as Cassie has been.
@@heresqueenie does Cassie's actions matter to define this argument? I'm talking solely about Lexi, also, the play was disrespectful not only to Cassie, but also to Nate and Rue, and yes, they have done their own wrongdoings, but I don't see how a school play (which wouldn't even be suitable for a high school audience in real life) is meant to solve or make it up for them.
Let's face it, Lexi needed this for her character development and growth and she got a chance to finally express herself. People deal with trauma in different ways and since being a child Lexi always had to bottle up her feelings and keep quiet. Cassie on the other hand looks for male attention and validation to the point of destroying all her relationships with her friends and family for a guy who is extremely toxic and abusive in pretty much every way possible. Lexi is constantly treated like sh*t by her sister for really no apparent reason and she's often ignored and dismissed by pretty much everyone in her life. Cassie has proven time and time again that she does not care about her or anyone else's feelings and refused to listen to anyone including her mother about Nate and betraying Maddy. Was this a little shady, yes but if Lexi went to her "friends " or her sister to discuss all this she would have been dismissed yet again. Also why should we care about Cassie's feelings when she doesn't care about anyone else's? It also seems to have worked (I hope) when she confesses that Nate broke with her to Maddy in the bathroom. Cassie deserved everything she got including her a** getting beaten just like Nate.
No amount of hate inside me for Cassie will ever let me convince that Lexi did something G on this play. Whole play was so weird and came off as typical boomer vision.

People who enjoyed Lexi's play and see nothing wrong with it clearly haven't had their personal life aired out for an entire school. Everyone is calling Cassie a pick-me girl (not defending her or denying that), but imagine self-inserting into your own play WITH THE SAME NAME AND SIMILAR PEOPLE. That screams pick me.
As if the school wouldn't have already been calling Cassie a pick me or betrayer before the play while seeing her walk with her bff's ex hand on hand, completely copying Maddy. And let's be honest, through this play she can finally reflect on herself and best part is that abusive Nate broke up with her.
Not really, a pick-me girl is a girl who does EVERYTHING so that people (specificaly boys) will like them, Lexi making the play and self-inserting (as Grace, btw) is the complete opposite of that, she's risking everyone close to her getting mad... and well it seems some of y'all already are lol
@@Emilia-ll3ii There's a reason people close to her are getting mad. It's violating and rude. This isnt the point of Lexi's play. The point of her play was to show the entire shit thats been going on from her point of view. How she feels and how she sees it. It was never to ridicule them, but to express them. as she even said it before, she has good intentions. And you say that cassie has been through more, but lexi has been through just as much as cassie between their dad, her friends and now cassie. Cassie with her abandonment issues due to their dad; Rue with her depression and increased drug use due to her Dadâs death; Maddieâs hidden sweet spirit and vulnerability; and, how the combination of all of these people in her life and how it effected her and how she handles situations.
I just wish someone would make an edit for this episode, and the one before, but strictly just the play scenes.
Um I donât think you quite understand itâŠ..Lexi didnât get permission from any of her friends to make that play about them, and you can tell she didnât because Maddy herself asked âis this fucking play about us?â None of them knew it would be about them. Anyone who has ever written or created a movie, play, musical book, etc whoâs making it about someone elseâs life, would know that they need permission and consent to do so for for legal reasons. Being that theyâre teens in high school aka minors (although the cast in real life are adults) if any of them had gotten offended by the play, legally speaking Lexi and Suze wouldâve been held liable, and wouldâve been sued for emotional damages. Now with Cassie, while she needed to hear how Lexi feltâŠ.Lexi was wrong for how she went about it (she couldâve stayed a home intervention between her, Cassie, and their mom) by portraying Cassie as this self-centered, shallow girl who has this perfect body, but gets insecureâŠ.because Cassie is still a teenager going through understandable insecurities. Lexi attacked Cassie for having gone through puberty much better and faster than her, but thatâs not Cassieâs fault because she never asked to go through puberty that fast or at all, or to even be prettyâŠ..we canât control puberty, and itâs not like Cassie couldâve done anything to help Lexi with her own insecurities other than giving her positive advice. Then Lexi tried to make Cassie seem shallow, and like a horrible sister when from almost all the clips weâve seen of just themâŠ.Cassie was never self-centered and shallow, she was just handling a lot of shut that Lexi wasnât going throughâŠ..but since sheâs older and Lexi is the little sister, of course Lexi would see her that way to be more dramatic.

Cassie's shallow personality? Has everybody forgot about season 1? You all found her super lovable although she had wrong sides. You could reason her acts with her traumas (not only her losing her father but also her sexual traumas.) She doesn't have a shallow personality she needs help and was supposed to spiral this season. Stop seeing everything in black and white. Also Lexi is not a genius or a saint like most people like to view her so. She didn't do anything creative she invaded other people's lives and judged them as she pleased. She was just venting. If broadcasting the lows of people to everyone is the way of her being able to express herself maybe she shouldn't express herself at all. She could've just talk to Cassie about her feelings. But instead of confronting her she chose to humiliate her. Which is not okay and to me it is pretty similar to what Cassie did to Maddy since they both were doing stuff behind others' backs.
100% agree with this! No one sees that Cassie is actually spiraling and having a mental breakdown. Lexi totally took advantage of the situation. I didnt like Lexi this season at all.
Cassie is a shallow personality. The traumas she has have nothing to do with that, ( also she doesnt have sexual traumas, at least i dont remember anything like that). The struggles she has cant excuse her actions because everyone has struggles in life, literally everyone, so the fact that cassie feels bad the 2nd whole season because she feels guilty about fucking her best friends boyfriend, can hardly be considered a real struggle. And yes lexi did offend many people with her play and it was a bit fucked up, but the only reason you complaining about it is because you have double standards. Lexi who hasnt done anything to offend anyone is totally the villain after a play like that, but if cassie had done it, due to the fact she is already fucked up all would be excused as long as she asked for help... Anyway in my opinion portraying your sister exactly how she is, isnt as bad as fucking your best friends boyfriend

"Shallow personality" when it's literally just a teen being body conscious and having average insecurities. Sad
Honestly idgaf what anyone says Cassie deserved everything she got. Throughout this season Cassie has shown her true colours and has shown that sheâs actually a really bad person that will literally ruin every relationship she has just for the validation of men even though time and time again people have shown her that she needs to live for herself. Cassie is the same girl that literally watched her boyfriend get r@ped and then went to go run her mouth about it only to cheat on him soon after even though it was very obvious that he was experiencing extreme trauma and that would be when he needed her the most and then next thing you know sheâs now sleeping with her best friends ex while she knows all the horrible shit Nate has done to maddy and also knows that theyâre constantly on and off so their breakups are never definite. That and Cassie isnât even a good sister to lexi in the first place. Lexi showed very deep and personal moments about everyone including herself in the play and yall are saying that she purposely made Cassie look bad to embarrass her while in actuality that just how Cassie is in real life which we all see when Cassie walks on the stage and decides to fuck up the whole play. Low key might be an unpopular opinion but Lexi was out of line. I understand that this was a way of expressing herself but to air your friends and familys dirty laundry in front of strangers despite it being on good intentions. It annoys me when she begins to tear up, like did you expect your sister who you are humiliating to just sit there and take it. Doesnât matter that Cassie was choosing to make bad choices, she doesnât deserve to have an entire theater of strangers to laugh at her. The carousel scene was out of line too. Because letâs be honest would you want your sibling to do a play about you that portrays the worst of you?
I 100% agree.
I dont see a good intension behind this whole play, especially at the carousel scene. Thereâs nothing positive about that. Lexie is trying sooooo hard to look innocent but it that was just so mean and unessesary.
yeah i like lexi as well but this was not it. the thing that irks me about her play is the way the show tries to make it seem like lexi had good intentions and that lexi is the victim when cassie tries to ruin her play but honestly what did she expect? especially the carousel scene was so humiliating for cassie.
if lexi had done this as a revenge and we can see her not being remorseful about it then i could accept it because every character in this show has done messed up shit. but lexiâs play was made out to be something that was creative and good when it actually was not which is what annoys me most about the play.
i donât like cassie and i absolutely hate nate but lexiâs play was not it. i donât even know how rue was okay with the play either. it was way too obvious who the play was about as well, literally no subtlety as well, and the play didnât add any new perspective to the viewers either, itâs literally what the audience already knows

You don't humble people like that ,and the play was shaming her for wearing make-up and for literally hitting puberty and then for having sex ,it's sexist and lexi is a pick me , cassie is in desperate need of help ,like seriously, and lexi knows this ,we seen her internal thoughts yet the play didn't highlight cassie's mental issues, it was just ,shame ,shame and shame. Cassie compared to other characters isn't terrible, nate and maddy weren't together and she can't control her feelings and she felt guilty so many times ,she even threw up and apologized, that doesn't look like a bad person to me ,all characters are grey so people acting as if everything is black and white is weird đ
Lexi wasnât wrong about Cassie, but she was wrong for what she did. Itâs always been clear that they were not at all close (which is quite sad since they are the only siblings in their family and also so close in age), but to embarrass and humiliate them - and HURT them? Purposely, and for your own benefit? I think thatâs kinda messed up.
@Lenny by only siblings it was meant that cassie and lexi don't have any another sister, or a brother
I mean the only siblings in their family. They have a messed up kind of family life so I would e thought they would be close since their dad left and their mom is a drunk, they mostly have eachother.
What she did was definitely messed up, but I can understand why she did it the way she did. She couldnât find any other outlet for her emotions than writing and putting on this play. In every other way she couldâve expressed her thoughts she wouldâve been ignored or talked down to. At least with a huge spectacle like this no one (but Cassie) would willingly interrupt for fear of exposing themselves. It was still fucked up though. Like I donât blame Cassie for her reaction to it either.
remember what was said tho? some people need to get their feelings hurt. itâs not right, but itâs needed
@Lenny either way she still got her feelings hurt đ
I feel like this okay was all the way wrong. Cassie was feeling insecure at the time and then her mom sexualized her. How is that Cassieâs fault? I donât get it. Lexi took Cassieâs sexualization as something that was putting Lexi down.
lexi is definitely a ânot like other girlsâ
I thought the point of this scene was that Lexi wanted to be like Cassie but then she saw some of the negative aspects that came with her being sexualized so young (as shown with Cassie falling in love and then crying on her bed).
I'm not saying the play was perfect, obviously anyone has a right to be angry in this scenario, but I don't think Lexi was trying to present her sister in a bad light it just came of like that because well Cassie's life has been a mess since their dad left.

when I had an eating disorder and was at my lowest I was frequently rude to my family because guess what? that's one of the main symptoms of that disorder and many other mental illnesses too. I guess I deserve to be publicly humiliated because of behaving like a mentally ill person does.
Cassie is described as having episodes frequently, so if she is having an episode and someone tries to communicate with her it would make sense if she snapped and acted rude, especially at home or with family members because that's usually when people turn off their masking.
Itâs most likely a mental issue that Cassie has thatâs going undetected, and she hasnât gotten help for yet. I had a worse school play in my school and it is considered as elite school. There was like imitation of threesome in it
I think, the only problem with the play was cassie on the carosel. like that's it. everything else didn't seem like it was too invasive. This are all based on real events but it was interesting to see lexi play between the extreme ridiculous behavior and imagination vs the moments bringing humanity back to the same people she was writing about. This is the ay they behaved, both good and bad, and she included a lot of stuff that effected her in ways that her "friends" didn't think that it could. And like for rue it makes people look at them selves in a different light. Like the show case with nates character and the locker room scene also could be pointed out as problematic but the thing is its commenting on toxic masculinity clearly present in the school, especially with Nate who she saw often and heard about because of Maddie. Cassie's carosel thing was wrong in the scene it kind of put her in the same position and light as the rest of the guys in Cassie's life do, with the videos and pictures they would take of her and of them forcing her to do things she was uncomfortable with. But I also don't know what would have happened if we let the scene play out with lexis commentary. We've scene lexi do this with Maddie in the play, showing what the world saw maddie being vs how she saw her irl. I'm gonna be honest, my assumption now is that the carosel scene was supposed to be lexi commenting on how she initially saw her sister as being, especially considering the comments she could have heard in school, from her boyfriends, and possibly knowing about the videos and pictures. And how she knew that wasn't true, it was a warped version. I do wish, that she talked to cassie about it tho for obvious reasons.
I do think it was messed up to include the carousel scene but the thing is is that cassie did that shit publicly. like everyone knew about it so itâs not like she exposed cassie or something. iâm not defending lexi completely bc I definitely think she shouldâve at least told them they were going to be in it but with that specific moment, the whole school already knew. but there were moments lexi didnât need to include at all.

You need to get some of your facts straight.
Why do i feel like Lexi is those authors who self-insert themselves as the main character in every novel.
This title is so misleading. Why are people hating on her? It's a well-produced show with some one-liners that are actually funny. It takes a lot for someone as quiet as her to be on stage, express yourself while the spotlight is on you in front of many people, and actually be able to make them laugh. It's a vulnerable situation, and it brings so much relief when people are actually impressed.
And if your argument is about Cassie's feelings, I think she's been babied enough so far without being called out. People have tried to verbally make her understand, but that obviously doesn't work. I'm not saying the point of this play was to make Cassie realize her mistake. This play is Lexi's story and how people around her affected her, what she saw from her eyes; the bit about Cassie is just a part of it, albeit a big part because that's how Lexi grew up, being overshadowed by her sister. Can't judge the whole play because of the presentation of ONE character.
She can be called out without that happening publicly, nothing you say will make this okay ,the play was misogynistic and sexist, lexi is my favorite character but that doesn't mean i can't be objective, public humiliation leads to suicide and self destruction, it doesn't help at all
But the problem is how "her story" revolved around other people and showing their mistakes, also she didnât have any consent over the play and nobody (maybe rue) knew about it, Iâm not saying people should hate Lexi but writing a play about real people without their consent and showing all the humiliating moments in their lifeâs is so wrong
Also is she wanted to call Cassie out she should have done it at home, not in front of strangers who know nothing about you and are going to be judging you for this
Yâall realize you can love Lexi and still disapprove of the play, right?
Like she didnât even *try* to hide who the people her play was based after were. With the exception of the name changes of every character except her, it wouldnât be hard at all for the student body to figure out who the characters were based off of. And since she made her sister essentially a caricature of herself, itâs only going to be harder for Cassie to be able find a support system to get out of her abusive relationship with Nate.
People (specifically men) already see Cassie as some hyper-concupiscent whore. I doubt the carousel scene in the play will do anything to help that view.
And even though Rue approved of the play as a whole and thought it was beautiful, it doesnât suddenly mean that Lexi wasnât *way* out of line for including the scenes about Rueâs life, specifically the ones about her father and his passing. At the very least, she should have asked for Rueâs permission to include it in the play.

Lexi's play didn't make fun of Cassie shallowness. That just this dull and insecure generations interpretation of it. She's talking about how she wants to be like her. Lexi is admitting to being superficial herself. The meaning of the play was so much deeper than what the Doo Doo brains got from it. đ€Ł
Nah this snowflakes in comments are all just bunch of 14 years old kids with no experience of real life
"the meaning of the play was so much deeper tha what the doo doo brains got from it" đ€âđ»
girl stfu its euphoria, the writer can barely finish a consistent episode i guarantee you theres not a single exclusive intelectual metaphor only certain people can get damn sit down ahahhdiwhđđ
it seems meta in a way that favors her. she calls out how more superficial her sister is then her, so in comparison she will always look less superficial compared to her sister. Also the fact she exposes herself and calls out her bad traits makes her seem less shallow and vain. Also the audience sympathize with her and sees her as relatable because she is the one narrating . Not only does she dirty her sisters reputation but she builds up her own. Clearly she is semi aware of what the audience is going to think, because she refers to the audience during the play. She has the audience perception around her finger and she knows it.
@@ajsan5841 wrong. You're just another doo doo head sadly.
Okay so she roasts I think everyone in her play, especially Cassie and Nat, but does she also go after herself? Befusse even if everything she says is true, if she doesnât also roast herself and puts herself on this pedestal, then thatâs messed up
Actually, she does roast herself đ she admits wanting to be like Cassie but puberty didnt hit her that hard.
@@jeringatai3156 exactly! ppl acting like the WHOLE play she was bashing her or sumn
she did make fun of herself. She was making fun of how unattractive and dull she always seemed to be because puberty didnât hit her as hard as she wished for
Thatâs not even a roast. Itâs a little self derogatory, the acknowledging that she never was conventionally attractive like her sister, but saying so while presenting Cassie as a literal angel who canât see how good she looks is just to poke fun at Cassie for being a self centred dumb blond, not mock herself for wanting to turn pretty too. At best itâs pandering for pity.
@@jeringatai3156 yea while publicly humiliating everyone about their past actions and whole adolescence, I think saying "oh man I didn't have a glow up" isn't as much of a roast as she did with others...
Can we talk about Suze just loving being played as a drunk by a male. đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł she is a mood
The mom is the problem. Sheâs just laughing at her daughter disrespecting peopleâs privacy including someoneâs past drug abuse without their consent (Lexi had no way of knowing that wouldnât trigger Rue) then the mom is confused when Cassie has a breakdown. Did she just expect her to sit there and take it? So messed up.
I think Suze is 100% the reason for why Cassie hasnât learned from her own mistakes. We never went deep into the whole character of Suze, and as a parentâŠ.youâre supposed to teach your kids right from wrong, as well as how to own up to their mistakes and not make them again. Suze never did that with Cassie, matter fact she shamed her for sleeping with Nate. With Lexi, since sheâs the younger sibling, sheâs way more shelteredâŠ.but with Cassie, itâs like Suze stopped caring for her. Maybe part of the reason for why Cassie does what she does, isnât just having been abandoned by her father and being sexualized a young ageâŠ.maybe her mom did some things in her past that Cassie took note of, and started copying and Suze either never fully noticed until it was too late, or she did notice, but didnât care.
It's awful to have Lexi as your sister
Their high school has a huge arts budget
Villains or not, anyone would be pissed to be called out so publicly and obscenely
Yâall hate Cassie so much that yâall are excusing this sick shitđ„Ž Lexi isnât a vibe this isnât cute or funny.
Right, they're all praising Lexi for this play but they know damn well if they were the ones being talked about in the play they'd be embarrassed and mad asf đđ€Ł
Exactly lol
regardless of what cassie did its not lexiâs place to make fun of her like that
SPILLL
Yâall are the same ones who excuse Cassie horrible actions
Suze loving her stage character reminds me of Toph with her stage character. đ
Same lol
omg best comment đ
The way no one thinks Lexy is a horrible sister for this
This whole play gives âIâm not like other girlsâ vibes and WHY ARE YALL JUST NOW REALIZING THIS PLAY WAS WEIRD đ
I empathized with Lexi up until the play. She really shocked me with her lack of insight and disloyalty. She became a total âpick meâ. And âIâm not like other girls.â Just gross.
I think this is such an interesting scene that tells so much about Lexi and how she sees the world around her. She shows Cassie and Suze in the same vein - both as comical figures, caricatures of themselves and their worst behaviors. Lexi is portrayed as the only sane member of her family, because thatâs how she feels in real life. Suze isnât that much of a sloppy drunk and Cassie isnât that much of a bimbo, but sometimes it probably really does feel like it to Lexi who is constantly caught up in their drama. Sheâs grown up in an incredibly dysfunctional household, caught between these two women who are spinning out on their additions - for Suze, itâs alcohol, for Cassie, men. Cassieâs promiscuity has 100% affected the dynamics of the household and Lexi has been dragged in to deal with her emotional turmoil often. Having a sibling with major emotional problems can be an incredibly caustic situation, especially when the adult that should be taking care of everything would rather be a âbest friendâ than a parent. IMO, showing Cassie and Suze both as these comical exaggerations of themselves shows that Lexi is associating their behaviors together in her mind - i.e., Cassieâs perpetual drama and chaos have effected Lexi in the same way as Suzeâs drinking and âcool momâ neglect.
Was the play messy? Yes. But Lexi is sixteen. Sheâs a child who has grown up in a messy, chaotic home, watching every person that she cares about fall apart and chose men/drugs/alcohol over everything else. The play is the first time that she has been able to have give a voice to her pain and her feelings about her family and their dynamic. Iâm not going to vilify her for choosing to create caricatures of the two people who made her feel the most unstable and neglected as a way of dealing with that pain.
Even though her intentions might be good, she still put a play of real people without their consent, and she even made fun of the people there (Cassie being sexualized while growing up)
I get that she wanted to express her feelings but she could done at home or atleast not in a public place, and her being 16 is no excuse, she should know better (and if we are going to be using that then we have to use it for everyone)
as everyone in the comments is focusing on whether lexi or cassie is in the wrong, i think the mom deserves a lot more flack than she gets. She sees her own daughter going to a mental breakdown and instead of helping her says "I don't care I just want to see my show" and "that girl needs an exorcist". Don't remember a lot from the first season but she's never been a great support to her either. Even when she goes to calm the situation on the stage, she doesn't do anything to comfort her daughter nor does she do anything when she's literally being chased by a girl that wants to beat her up. She also let Cal in her house and let him interrogate and intimidate her daughters and threaten to take their phones and read all of their private messages. She's a pretty bad mother and she's probably one of the contributing factors to cassie's behavior.
Really what bother me the most is how simple she sees all her sister problems if you wanna potrait something so traumatizing for your sister you need to know her feelings about it is your life but in overall you are telling other story any of Euphoria caracters are good or bad but she sees the perspective of probadbly 70% of the audience and that's when you know if the play is doing it the right thing or you just simple wanna think Lexi is good and beyond everyone
Gotta be honest, if my sister did this to me, I would be as pissed as Cassie.
Is it Cassie's "shallow personality" or just Cassie's average insecurities?...
ikrr
LiterallyâŠâŠI knew so many girls in high school who were exactly like Cassie but obviously not as dramatic since Euphoria is a show, but I personally knew so many girls just like her who acted out of impulse, dressed up for guys who didnât like or care for them, the whole 9 yardsâŠ..
There was a play at my high school where the writer (female) basically did the same thing Lexi did to her sister and friends literally using actors that look very similar like her sister and her 3 friends and used their real names and didnât get their permission and her drama teacher (female) also had no knowledge of this she thought this whole play was fiction but like Lexi sheâs not creative, all 4 of them were very pissed off when they realized who the characters were and the judgements she made about them and talking about their personal issues to the whole school, so they went to the teacher and told her that she didnât get their permission and is exposing personal secrets, issues and making a fool out of them so she ended the play immediately, the teacher and principal kicked her out of drama class, and all her friends sued her they were so done with her and her sister who was quite good was more upset than pissed that her own sister did that to her. some students felt satisfied about the people she made fun of but still just about everyone and myself felt she did them so wrong and didnât understand why she would do that if they were her friends? just like that time I think Lexi did them wrong especially Cassie by not asking her friends to talk about their personal issues and secrets to the school, if this show were to be real Lexi would not get away that easily she should get some bad karma by whoever and however
Sibling rivalry is something but this was just disgusting, and the worst is that their mother was fully with Lexie to make fun of her other daughter traumatism... Cassie's whole family is a mess, no wonder why she's so messed up inside
Can we all just take a moment and realise that this play isnât about Cassie. Itâs about Lexi, her struggles and how she experienced things through childhood. We get a play about Lexi, and still manage to make it about Cassie. Also if it were Cassie writing the play, she would be ridiculing Lexi for âhaving no lifeâ and you all know it. I feel like weâre proving Lexiâs point, Cassie is still getting more attention than Lexi even when the show isnât about Cassie. We should be talking about Lexiâs struggles and think to ourselves âdamn, Lexiâs such a smart young woman whoâs hurting inside and turning it into comedy. This is a really good play.â And instead weâre talking about Cassie for the one hundredth time, itâs getting repetitive and annoying. This all just proves that Lexi is a severely underrated character.
Thatâs lexisâs own fault for deciding to humiliate her sister in a play. She gives such a huge presence to Cassie in her brain and now itâs in the play. Obviously, the most controversial part and biggest part of the play will be all anybody talks about.
Sweetie half of the play Lexi was shaming CassieâŠ..if Lexi truly made the play about herself, she wouldnât have included those parts about Cassie and her friends at all, or she wouldâve put them in but only as minor parts that were barely there, and just focused on herself. We made it about Cassie? So when Lexi had âHalleâ come down from the ceiling dressed as angel acting as Cassie, and then having her get sexualized by the guy playing SuzeâŠ..that wasnât Lexi making it about Cassie? I think you need to watch it again because if you truly pay attention to it, Lexi mainly focused on her friendsâ issues not her own, and only like 2-3 parts of the play were specifically about her while the rest was about everyone else and then Cassie.
Cassie did some messed up shit. But this was indeed more a petty attempt of getting your frustrations out from Lexi
The problem with Lexi making this play about Cassie is that she pretends she didn't. If you're calling her out, just do it.
