What makes this sadder imo is that all the other cybermen who’s programming was never completed were violent to some degree. They all were completely deranged and had no concept of who they were, all except for Yvonne who just wanted to go home and show off her uniform. Spare Parts really shows just how scary the cybermen are, easily the best Big Finish story of all time.
Damn, how scary this is! If you watched the Real Time webcast, the cyber conversion is shown there in a particularly cruel way, and paired with Spare Parts and the World enough and time it fully reveals the potential of the horror of the Cybermen. Great job
The only thing worse than cyber conversion, is retaining all your prior memories despite the emotional conditioning they try to control you through.
This and World Enough and Time are the only instances in recent memory where the Cybermen have truly unsettled me imo. Fantastic work!
I saw that story when it was broadcasted and it scared me. Overall that and the doctor falls is on my top three doctor who stories
