What can I say :-) This whole trip was just epic. And this trip actually almost didn't happen, so it felt even more special. Ending the year with an adventure and starting the new year with an achievement, WOW. We started on Saturday, December 31, 2021 at 6.30 p.m. from Papine Kingston, from there a 4x4 vehicle picked us up to take us to the Jacobs Ladder and from there we started the night hike to Portland Gab (1st rest stop) at 3 a.m. We continued the hike to the summit, which is 7,402 feet above sea level. The highest point in Jamaica and the sixth highest in the Caribbean. So we reached the summit at 5.30 a.m. and it was very cold 8º to be precise at this time of year (Dec. \ Jan.) is the coldest time, the air is fresh and the wind is cold, but I have prepared myself for it: - ) I was really more afraid of the cold than the hike itself lol
Since the first part of this adventure was at night it is not on the vlog because of bad lightning, the vlog starts with the sunrise on the summit :) Have fun

Your subject, The Blue Mountain Peak, is a UNESCO world heritage site. It's the draw, the main attraction, it's a big deal! Just as much as location, the view is an indispensable feature. I was hoping to see a lot more of the mountain views especially on your descent. Yes, show us flowers and trees because they may be endemic to that area only. Capture everything that moves, just as you did with the clouds. Birds, insects, reptiles, and animals. Mankind you could leave out 😄
I've never had the privilege of visiting The Blue Mountains but you're correct that we weren't seeing what you were. Jess, with every ounce of respect, your camera wasn't doing justice to its beauty, even from where I sat in my home I could imagine the spectacle 😊 I knew that it gets cold up in The Blue Mountains, but 8° on a tropical island is a frigid reality. Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing a piece of your adventure ( the blue mountains ) ,which remain one of the most unique places in Jamaica. I have been to the peak more than 20 times between 1965 and 1985. I am a little disappointed to see that the two little cottage on the peak is no more. I love these mountains more than any other place in Jamaica, and. trust me I've been around. If all goes well, I'll. be back on the peak in the summer of 2023. Stay safe, from Charlotte with love.

I did that night hike years ago when I was a student at the University of the West Indies. It was a lovely experience when we got to the peak and saw the outskirts of Cuba.

If you start in the day it is too hot plus you would see where u walking along precipice. No way you would continue up. When i saw where i had walked the night no way would have done that if i could see the precipice and the height . Scary.
Most people start at about 12 midnight and get to the peak about 4:30am. Hard hike.
We have blue mountains like that. They even called it the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's very cold here even in the lowlands during the winter.

Greetings, the trail starts at jacobs ladder and thats where we came off at 10pm we then hiked to Portland Gab and stayed at the cabins for couple of hours then we continued the hike to the peak.

I think it's the 3rd highest peak in the Caribbean
6th highest in the caribbean. 1 to 5 is shared by DR and Haiti. Highest is Pico Duarte in the DR 🇩🇴⛰️i might try to summit it 😁

It is very cold up in the blue mountains and even colder at the very pinnacle of the peak. Have to carry a warm jacket on that hike.
