Bang & Olufsen Audio Explained on HP Envy x360 & Speaker Test!

- In years past, HP has partnered with Beats by Dre to put Beats Audio into HP's computers but after the acquisition of Beats by Apple, HP was forced to find a new audio partner. And they went with a small Danish brand by the name of Bang and Olufsen.
Personally I think the speakers sound amazing with Bang & Olufsen audio turned as well as music and live modes enables which is my favorite preset for the best sound.

B & O is NOT small. They're one of the oldest audio makers in the world.
They are also always on the cutting edge of technology. They were one of, if not the first with thin home speakers. I am not a B&O owner but years of friends owning their stuff, I know they deserve their well earned reputation as a HIGH END audio company
B&O are well regarded by both audiophiles and regular music listeners. They have pioneered several audio technologies - most recently the ice amplifier. I have owned several B&O systems throughout the years and they look as pretty as they sound.
Richie Chou and Jbl is one of the company who made a speaker.
Really? How 'bout Audiophile though?
Because of the bang & olufsen driver included in this one, when you connect the laptop to real speakers that sound quality is OVER THE TOP AMAZING!!! Imo its genuinely bar-none the BEST I have ever seen in ANY computer right out the box. I had to return the laptop because it was making some weird hard drive-like sounds(it was like a static noise that exactly imitated a hard-working/struggling hard drive sound). But I was REALLY impressed, songs took on a entirely new quality that I had never heard before.
Bang & Olufsen are about as high end as you can get. They make the dream audio speakers people in the know want. No surprise their software follows the B & O reputation. Was the reason I bought this HP.. I use my HDMI out into a high end Onkyo with WRAT powering a Klipsch ( cant afford B&O lol) surround system (1,500 watts total). Sounds better than my gamer with audio optical out.
I like B&O audio turned on with the Club Mode enabled. I like that mode for listening to music, but i'm still trying to find which mode I like better for speech.
Thank you for posting. I was wondering if you can use the mic through stereo mix on B&O Audio. For example, in a chat room, can you speak on the microphone while playing an audio file, and both your voice and the audio file be heard on the end at the same time-- without having to switch back and forth between Stereo Mix and Mic? That was my problem with IDT audio on my HP.
Wow! the laptop I'm hopefully getting plus my favourite songs in one video! thanks for the sound test!
Sounds decent down to the low-mids. Not surprisingly the really low frequencies are just absent but there's not exactly a lot of speaker cone surface area or resonance space for good low-end response.
Under these circumstances the audio from that laptop sounds fine to me. And much better than a model I listened to that had Altec Lansing audio.
No amount of equalization and other trickery will make poor quality speakers sound good.
I dont know about B&O but i have the same Laptop and it has the crappiest noisiest sound i've ever experienced with any other PC. Im so disappointed with HP and this is one of the reasons.
Speakers and the software is the worst I've ever heard. I can't even believe it..
I still remember that my old HP G60-125nr had Altec Lansing speakers.
My 2008s hp G61 is still working with Altec Lansing
B&O are a "small" Danish brand? Wow you don't know about audio
initially their not that big of a company, but their products are known to many audiophiles
Audi has an b&o advanced audio package which cost $5,000 and it is worth every cent
Iván Schulz-Corona *is
Kevin Kochatt sorry, born in the US but raised in Mexico
Eiza Huppenkothen Poniatowska yeah and i have the 2015 bmw x6m and the 2012 bmw 750li they are both equipped with B&O
Great video--very helpful. I own an HP Laptop which had the last generation beatsaudio installed. Everyone dissing beatsaudio here are out of their minds. As a musician and an audiophile I can assure you it's a quality product. No, it is NOT the same as plugging into your home amplifier--but sheez guys this is a laptop computer that costs less than your home amplifier, oh yeah and a computer comes with it. Now that I am ready for another HP Laptop this vid gave me the chance to road test B&O. Thank you--it looks like HP has smartly kept audio at the forefront of their laptop specs. Very smart--and who cares about the speakers, most people listen through headphones for best sound quality anyway.
Here's hoping you have better luck than I. That's why I bought the HP over the Asus, and I have been disappointed. (Admittedly, the settings tinkering hasn't happened yet, but then I never had to tinker my old Beats Pavilion to get sometimes better sound than my desktop setup with the fancypants headphones...) And that's even before the sound apparently hangs altogether and I have to restart Windows.
Does hp laptop with B&O and bang and olufsen have same tuned sound? I think bang and olufsen will be a little better? I know they are the same brand
My HP Envy Bang And Olufsen speakers still pop.
I Have a HP Pavilion 14-AB021TX w/ B&O PLAY not Bang & Olufsen Audio which i think that they only added the EQ on B&O Play models.
Okay my question is do you have to install The equalizer or is it a program that's already on the HP computer or laptop
I'm trying to use the x360 to create a video interview and the sound has a lot of background noise. Any suggestions?
Question.........i have the 2017 model HP Spectre X360 with Bang & Olufsen audio. Is there an audio driver I can download that will improve the audio performance (crisper treble and deeper, clearer bass)? I have googled and searched this on youtube with no clear answer. Thank you!
I do not have an equalizer just volume adjustment, with bass on my brand new Spectre 360 :(
Good video! Also Merry Christmas man!
+ItsFusion - Gaming and More Merry Christmas to you as well!
I've had this laptop for 2 years now.. Not bad
Nice video, saw some posts on other websites regarding dissatisfaction with the speakers, but can't figure why now. Did u have any problem with setup of ur device? Deciding between the envy and Dell inspiron 3530, thx
Merry Christmas muwen360
+Nafeeur Rahman Merry Christmas!
I reinstalled windows on hp omen laptop with bang and olufsen sounds and now it just has normal realtek audio drivers. Is there difference? Any tips to make the sound quality as good as possible for the laptop? ty
Did you ever figure out anything that could make the audio better?
Thanks for this video @muwen360
While I love the speakers sound, I am very frustrated with the sound enhancement that comes on when I plug in headphones. As soon as I plug headphones, the sound is automatically enhancement to a horrible level. Opening the B&O control panel doesn't seem to have any setting that can prevent this enhancement. Do you have a solution to this?
How long does it take for the charging light next to the power jack input on the side to show up once plug in the power jack?
My machine is about 5 seconds.
I've had this laptop for less than a year and since I got it, it's had an issue where anytime the laptop goes to sleep, the sound stops working completely (i think the drivers must be crashing) until I restart it. It happens every single time it goes to sleep. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
My speackers dont work. Only one and sounds like being in a bottle. What test can i do before i send it to service. w10 with drivers. thank you.
umm i used to have it on my hp pavillion 15t but suddenly it dissapeared from my laptop please help!!?? i cant find it anywhere on the laptop!!???
I recently bought an hp pavilion x360 but the audio (B&O) is actually very low compared to my older Pavilion that had Realtek. Should I adjust the settings or something?
can you please send me the link to the unboxing of this laptop. i want to get one. tnx
Hello !
I recently bought a HP laptop with Bang & Olufsen audio, but since I upgraded the pc to Win10, the B&O desktop app disappeared, and I'm unable to find it on the web. Without this app, there are no more bass...where did you get this desktop app ? I'd love to get it :)
There was some kind of B&O enhanced audio codec or something available from the Windows Store a few years ago when I first got the Envy. You had to pay for it, and I was just looking for it again but it seems that it doesn't exist. Any else remember seeing an offer for this when they first got their machine?
Does anyone know if HP still supports Bang & Olufsen audio
hi dude i have an hp laptop with b&o logo in it.but i cant find this equalizer in my system.do u know why?
My issue as well on a 1 week old HP Envy
those speakers sound pretty nice.. Specially with the that BAO Equalizer system my speakers are in the front I have an HP it's about 5 years old...
+Richard Moreno yeah they are pretty good
bro can you please send me b&O software as I have reinstalled windows 10 and I can't find the software anywhere.
Hey I only have the 13" version so i dont have quite all your equalizations. However I have an issue where when i plug in my headphones I cant choose the Bang and Olufsen. The option is completely grayed out and I cant select it to equalize the audio at all :( Do you experience this by chance?
Joshua Guevara same. Any solution?
So who makes the speakers?
i just got the newest hp envy(core) with B&O and honestly i was just looking for the audio manager
Thank you
very helpful video thanks
as im watching a video or listenin to something the volume gets lower and lower until u can no longer hear anything... HELP PLEASE.. so annoyed.
thanks but I want to install bang and olufsen, but i can't find it and any help would be much appreciated
It might be called HP Audio Control
Merry Christmas muwen
+TechTNZ Merry Christmas!
i cannot not find bang and olufsen in my x360...plz help
Okayyy this is weird for weeks i can't get a sound on my pc i click on the video and suddenly i have sound wtf is going on????
Does it give any louder like Htc one & M7?
Please what are the specs of this particular laptop
hi,
does it have a subwoofer along with its two speakers
Unfortunately no.
I have a Spectre x360 13" with Bang & Olufsen. On a laptop this thin, it's impossible to get great audio through on-board speakers. I can confirm that the headphone output sounds clean through a quality set of AKG reference headphones, and has no background noise. I didn't buy the laptop for the B&O, but I definitely wouldn't have bought it if there had been a Beats logo on it!
I have a spectre x360 too! does the sound come up from the speakers right below the screen too?
@@Zattur32 15 2020 for me yes.
I too have a hp notebook with BAO and its cool...😊
Does it give any custom equalizer?
Good explanation!
+Brad Snyder Thank you Brad. Merry Christmas
+muwen360 Merry Christmas to you too!
Just purchased my new HP Pavilion Laptop 2018 model 2 weeks ago. So far, I love this laptop due to the fact that HP redesigned the laptop looking like the Envy range (check out those thin bezels) and it's overall premium build too! The audio quality is the best for a duel-stereo speakers laptop, thanks to B&O! 👍
Glad HP ditched Beats Audio & partnered with a genuine Audio company hehe!🎉
I cannot tick or untick the B&O box! Why? Please read this thread on HP Forum Support: h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Cannot-use-Bang-amp-Olufsen-audio-control/td-p/5685585
Thanks,
This type of sound is better than dolby atmos or less ?
Hey. I have that same laptop. And the audio isnt working. Does anyone have tipes
Nice video!
+Vaquixne YT Thank you!
Know Where i can download the drivers of B&O for this laptop?
you can't...they are exclusive if you buy a new hp notebook/tablet/acessory ect
how to download this app for windows10?
Mine is extremely boomy. Hate it. How can I adjust it? It like a cheap car radio.
How many watts are each speaker? Does anyone know?
Mine sounds like sh*t. Bought it because it promised the best audio and graphics. I'm going to try and find the equalizers you're using, never knew they were there. Hopefully mine has them.
Did you find them? How do they sound? 🙂🌎✨
That equalizer software looks the same as the Beats software. It exaggerates the bass and treble. then when you turn it off the treble actually goes to +4 and the bass at -12. It is a scam. You should look at the Windows audio properties tone box to see what I am talking about.
+survivor030406 Yeah I see
Great review but for me it doesn't work at all when I use Bluetooth headphones. You have to go direct from the headphone jack. No huge deal and probably not a B&O thing...probably more an HP laptop thing. I am on an HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cs0xxx.
Great video. Good to know why my expensive hp laptop sounds bad, and i understand why mac is the only laptop with acceptable speakers.
what if msi gl65 9sek ? better or not ?
have you tested out the speakers on the 12 inch macbook? and if so how would you compare them?
+NOFATCHICK1 About the same in terms of quality and volume
+muwen360 you thought so? I went to best buy this morning & fortunately they had both I thought the macbook were significantly louder, and gave better sound
What is the difference between B&O play audio and Bang & Olufsen. I have a Pavillion 15 with B&O play
I think its the same thing
+Paultwice22 b&o stands for bang& olufsen
Any idea how to increase the volume? Even when I increased to 100% volume, it is still soft.
yes, mine is so quiet! my lenovo beforehand was so much better!
+Amy McCready I think it has something to do with the equaliser. but, i cant find mine using the other tutorials. there is a missing enhancement tab.
Wow those spealers sounds good with B&O turned on. Honestly it beat BEATS audio. I look forward to getting this laptop,
My sound always doesn't work on my HP envy x360
I have an HP x360 11 inch convertible laptop that came out in 2014 with beats audio speakers and the audio interface is literally the exact same as this bang & olufsen one just in black and red color to match the beats logo. The audio adjustment is slightly different though, but I dislike beats audio products with a passion. Turning beats audio off makes everything sound bland so I'm forced to have beats audio enabled ☹
Hi there. I've got my 360, the sound is very tinny and low. I've tryed the link h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Bang-amp-Olufsen-sound-is-very-tiny-and-sound-awlful/td-p/5177819 but I found controller CONEXANT ISST audio and the steps suggested are not available. probably changing 24 bit 48000 Hz to another configuration, solve the low volume problem, but can not change this item. If you have any idea to have a louder sound, please send me a message.
I'm pretty sure B&O would purposely make the sound worse without their enhancements turned on so when you do turn them on it sounds much better.
Fagree
Hi , I recently bought Envy 14 but i feel the sound is not as high as i think it should be , so is there any settings that i have to configure properly
+Bhushan Baskar Is Bang and Olufsen audio turned on? Music mode gives you the highest volume. It could be the sound you are playing too. Some music have louder source audio. Others have softer audio.
i played a movie and tv show , it gave me low intensity sound . am a little confused with the sound settings with b&o
I used to have a Dell XPS which was easier to understand
+Bhushan Baskar you might have a defective laptop because this happen to me. I have the hp envy x360 touchscreen laptop i7 Intel Core. I exchange it for a new one but the same brand and this one alot louder.
ok , good to hear
Glad HP got rid of that Beats crap. Bang and Olufsen are much more better quality and reputation. Although laptop speakers aren't really noticeable in quality of sound wise... but the company itself is a good quality company when compared to Beats.
It doesn't matter if beats or b&o. These companies just allow HP to put their name on a laptop. They will both sound exactly the same (given you use the same speakers/headphones). You can reproduce the same sound with every desktop PC which has a soundcard with an software EQ built in.
Ikr the fact different audio brands are better/worse is more of a psychological thing, they are both pretty good and difference between speaker quality isn't really big if at all.
Bullshit, if it says ICEpower it has an ICEpower class D amplifier build in. And they are VERY VERY good. Above average living room amplifiers.
But be sure it doesn't only have B&O speakers, but that they use the actual ICEpower class D Amp. It's used in many high end Amps for living room amplifiers which are pretty above average Amps.
Disagree. With my old Pavilion/Beats I could hear live voice recordings with crappy "around town" headphones at least as well as, and often better than, with my external sound card and fancypants headphones on the desktop machine. With the new B&O Envy, there come points where I almost have to give up listening 'til I get home to my decent sound equipment. It rankles because the sound is exactly why I picked it over the Zenbook.
the software looks just like a reskin of the old srs and beats audio control panel on older hp laptops
+muwen360 I have the same laptop and I can't use my external microphone with it. It wouldn't recognize it or even show it. Could you help me to solve this problem?
the audio quality is good. But maybe it'll be better with a built in subwoofer like how beatsaudio hp laptop back then.
OK guys, listen up. No speakers in a laptop will ever impress you. What you are buying is a actual preamp software to run your stereo system. Bang & Olsen and Mark Levinson are one of the best to create preamp software. I would like to have you connect your HDMI out to a good sound system and tweek it with your Bang olsen software on this laptop and I would be you would love it.
You are horribly wrong about "No speakers in a laptop will ever impress you"
How do I pull up the equalizer?
The interface in this video is different from how it is today, at the time I'm writing this (6/5/2021).
The way to get to the equalizer right now on an HP laptop with Bang and Olufsen in Windows is:
1. Open your Start menu.
2. Start typing "Bang and Olufsen" and it will turn into a search for these settings.
3. Click the result in the Start menu called "Bang and Olufsen Audio Control".
4. You can browse the controls via different sections currently shown along the top. "Equalizer" is the option you're looking for. (The other sections currently are "Audio Levels", "Noise Cancellation", and "Advanced Settings".)
Thanks, I was looking into this myself at the store. Tested it with both my headphones and speakers and it didn't sound much different than my home desktop with no special audio devices or sound card.
After that I assumed they probably just added the equalizer or something and called it a day. I read that same press release when I was looking into it more today and saw they mentioned the stuff about the motherboard and audio portions being isolated but that meant very little to me since I have no knowledge of audio. It was definitely made to seem like they actually manufactured the speakers but I suppose not. That said, I rarely use the speakers on my laptop so I don't have anything to really compare it to, but it wasn't anything great (my laptops speakers).
+Seraphyx Thanks for sharing!
Dell XP’s 15 Had the best speaker JBL
the best speakers ever on a laptop is the Y50.
speakers make a random clicking noise while the mute button is turned on.
song name? yes im lazy
Where did u get this laptop from
+John Parker hp's official store
You did not know anything about bang and olufsen how good it is
Outdated video. Today the HP Envy X360 does not have ANY Bang & Olufsen drivers, software or audio. They only retain the stick on label. Everything is now done by RealTek and the speaker volume is completely inadequate as a result. They have removed access to the Advanced/Audio Enhancement/ Loudness Equalization. Without that enhancement option the speakers are almost useless. This is also the case on Acer laptops.
Use the Live setting of Bang and Olufsen when you are viewing videos. Mine was set to the default setting since I have been using it, and just today October 15, 2017 I set it to Live and the sound is really great. If you have that on your computer, Try it out with all the equalizer settings and find out the one that you like. I tried several and the Live Equalizer setting was the best and will use that in the future for vocal or music videos. Setting the equalizer properly will make all the difference in the world!
how many speakers?
my hp laptop only 1 speaker
1:21 "These two speakers on both sides are, most likely generic, non-branded parts, correct me if I'm wrong..."
Edit: Forgot to include link - www.bang-olufsen.com/en/solutions/computer-audio
"THE RIGHT HARDWARE
It all starts with the right hardware. HP focuses on making the right hardware choices, then designs audio components within the device to maximize clarity. For example, HP PCs have a dedicated audio island, isolating the sensitive audio circuits from other signals that might cause interference, keeping the sound pure.
Our acoustic engineers custom-tune each speaker - and create preset audio configurations on a range of devices for greater clarity and accuracy in reproduction."
Thanks for the update Jim! 🙂🌎✨
5739G have such a great sound WITHOUT STUPID EQUALIZER CONTROLS
I owned a HP Envy with beats audio, it was really bad. Everytime when I listened with a headphone and there was bass, dynamic compression started to kick in. Really enoying, even when it was turned off it was bad. So I deleted the software and installed something else, and it was a lot better.
first i thought it was an error on my envy, it is freakin' bad.

B&O produces perhaps the finest audio devices. HP Inc. made a contract with B&O according to which B&O would design and manufacture the audio tools, speakers, and microphones used in some of the HP laptops. As far as I know, B&O takes care of audio on HP Pavilion, Envy and Spectre series laptops and also on some of the high end business laptops. But I would like to warn people against one common misconception: the audio devices such as headphones sold and marketed by HP are not manufactured by B&O. Also there are many laptops manufactured by HP which do not use the B&O sound systems in them. If your HP Laptop has a B&O sound system then it is mentioned on your laptop box as well as by a B&O or BANG AND OLUFSEN mark on the body of the laptop.
I can’t for the life of me find the control tab (equalizer menu) or the app for my laptop. It says it has a B&O system but it doesn’t sound like it at all. I’m running windows 11 & the laptop is fairly new (under a year).
@@Jenlenjen same. I bought my pavilion yesterday and it has B&O but the audio is very quiet
WHY DOES MY MUSI SOUND LIKE TRASH WHEN I PLUG IN HEADPHONES' AND THERE REALLY FOOOOD HEADPHONES!
i lost drivers of b&o. if you have then kindly mail me or send me the link. thanks....

+khalid umar hahahahahaha go to hp website u will find support link including drivers, search ur product and get the drivers . u welcome
+blablabla7604 thnx sr
+khalid umar lol yeah go to HP's website
That EQ software is the same as my old HP with Beats had with a B&O brand slapped over it.. I hope the B&O sounds better than Beats did, since Beats sounds awful.
